Existing Foxtel iQ2 Customers Only - FREE (2) NetComm Ethernet Adapters

140

Was just on the Phone to Foxtel's Customer service representatives for a Box refresh - Mentioned about the Netcomm Powerline Adapters, they said they would ship (2) Adapters FREE of charge. I can confirm that it still works.

Full Credit to Tightarse's Thread

It takes matter of minutes. Make sure you that you mention that you are looking to access 'On Demand' on your Foxtel Box, but can't due to being upstairs, etc.

In some cases, it may take two calls, but highly unlikely.

Dupe as the old deal is within six months.

    • Apparently it's a dupe if the previous deal is within a month. I need to go back and read the rules.

      • +2

        Exceptions:

        • The original deal is older than one month, and was expired or sold out between then and now.
        • The original deal is active but older than 6 months.
        • The duplicate gains an excessive amount of positive votes (50+) and reaches the front page.
        • The original deal is a list of multiple items and the item is not contained in the title of the original deal. Related forum discussion.
Note if the expiry date is not specified on a deal post, our system will automatically expire the deal after 45 days (90 days for freebies). It is the posters responsibility to set an expiry date or report the deal to have it not auto expire.

        TAs was expired May 1st

  • My parents received two the other day, I can confirm they no longer ship netcomm adapters but third-party self-branded Foxtel adapters.

    • they are Foxtel labelled Netcomm ones

  • Wonder if they can see if you've accessed it before. I don't have much use for them but free is free.

    • +3

      Why get them then?

      • +1

        for free

      • +1

        In true ozbargainer spirit!

  • I tried to get this just now but was rejected because my box came from Austar and not Foxtel even though they are the same company now :(

    • say the box is faulty - intermittently drops recordings, shuts down randomly etc. They will install a new box, ask the tech attending for the adaptors.

      • +1

And get them to change your box to foxtel iq, not mystar hd. Mystar boxes wont get them unless you change

  • Any recordable Foxtel box will get them , not just IQ2, we have the basic recordable Satellite box (iq1?) and have these extenders . They want you to have them of course so you can spend money on movie rentals etc.

    • +1

Iq1 wont get them, as they dont have ethernet port on them. Iq3 wont get them, because wifi. Only iq1.5 or 2 will get them.
Also afaik basic ent package wont get it for free, i believe its $50 unless you have movie package or drama package. That was the case last i heard.

      • I have a Foxtel IQ box (not IQ2 or 3 it just says Foxtel IQ) and have them , it has Ethernet - this is a Satellite box not cable.

And yes, I have all channels except for sport.

        • Yeah my Cable iq1 has Ethernet

Itll be 1.5 then, if it has hdmi and ethernet ports itll be 1.5. They are the main differences between 1 and 1.5.

        • @tekkrohnz:

that will be it then, we have hdmi, ethernet. like the second link.

        • +1

@PVA: With those boxes id recommend looking in the picture settings to make sure its set to 16:9, as the come default 4:3 unfortunately.

        • @tekkrohnz:
thanks, yeah we have it set up properly. actually the installer was really good and cared about his job.

One thing you might be able to help with - if it is left on for a long time with out touching the remote, or changing channels, say on ch401 and after say 3hours a message pops up saying power saving and it will shut down and we have one minute (timer counting down) to press a button. I cant find any setting to turn that off. Is that the energy saving under the IQ menu (I had it on Medium)

        • +1

@PVA: Should be an off option for energy saver iirc. Which would be that

  • Thanks OP. Got them to ship 2. Girl on phone said they'd cost $10 each but i refused. Played the "I'm sure you can waive the $20 this time" card. =)

  • I just purchased foxtel recently for the first time. IQ2 + second box. The installer asked if I had a fixed internet connection and I told him not at the moment so he didn't give me any adapters (I didn't ask though). Is it a condition you have fixed line at the time of connection?

    • To be honest with you, It really doesn't matter.

99.98% of the time they just hand them out, no questions.

  • friend got told yesterday they were $50 !!

  • Just told they are $50 for customers who are not on Platinum, might try again on monday with retentions team and see if that makes a difference

  • Confirmed that these are still available. Not sure on brand though. I just signed up for Foxtel through Telstra platinum package 3 months for free a few weeks ago.

Phoned Foxtel tonight and was initially told they are $50 for a pair of adaptors but the Foxtel guy went and spoke to a supervisor, then said they would send out 2 our for free.

Theyre still the came netcomm adaptors. Just rebranded with foxtel logo.

      • Sure are
