  • Great price for one of those. Just remember the Broadwell NUCs have switched to M.2

Cheapest 500GB mSATA in the country is $278.

    Mad deal! And from PCCG?!

  • Not really the cheapest look at http://xprice.com.au/search?key=CT500MX200SSD3%20

    • Your link shows Kogan is the next cheapest at $261 without shipping.

Actual price on Kogan is $168.47 plus $9 shipping cost.

$260 at PCCG is still the cheapest, really.

      • Umm the kogan at $168.47 is 250Gb not 500gb like this deal.

        • Forgot to write that bit. Was using the 250GB to show the shipping cost.

  • Are these units good/reliable?

Crucial (Micron) is one of the largest flash chip manufacturers and they use a non-sandforce controller, both big bonuses in my book. I have a few Crucial SSD's (M550 512GB, MX100 256GB , BX100 250GB) and cannot fault them. The MX range are their entry/mid level but the reviews suggest they are fast enough and you should not have any issues with longevity. I would rate them as good and reliable.

The MX200 series feature power loss protection and a RAID-like redundancy that they call RAIN. Both of these make these drives more reliable. They also have a life expectancy of up to 320TB worth of writes apparently (see link below)

      In a word, yes.

Crucial (Micron), Samsung and Intel. The holy trinity of NAND fabrication that smite all other imitators with brimstone and hellfire.

More seriously; these are enterprise-grade babies. More than adequate for the lowly PC plebs.

Not bad but I noticed Samsung have announced 2tb SSD's the other day. Still a bit expensive ATM ($800 usd) but as with all new releases it should push down the price of current gear when it hits the shelves.

    • +3

Not really? The 2TB are still 850 series (850 Evo and 850 Pro) and are positioned as alternatives to the other size capacities, not as a replacement.
Prices for all computer parts will generally go down over time but the introduction of a larger capacity drive does not spell cheaper prices for smaller ones.

  • PCCG may have great customer support and fast shipping, but they are overpriced. I have been using their site for 10 years to compile lists of PC Parts and I rarely ever see a deal.

    • Agreed, but you're looking at a great one now… No plus vote??
