$14.40 more than the previous ATL (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/925949) but still good at the moment.

Second listing for $1663.20

Online forums suggest the fan is a bit noisy but tolerance will vary. If you're looking for an RTX 5080 that is a little bit below MSRP, then this is a good time to buy.

Personally, I did not get this one and opted for the MSI Shadow 3X for $1759.20:

This? Or wait for the super refresh? My 3080 is starting to show it's age. Struggling to run BF6 at DQHD res.

    Edit: Currently using a 5600X.

what is your definition of struggling? also BF6 can be very CPU intensive so that may be what your bottleneck is and not the 3080.

    • +2

      Upgrade your CPU

        5800X3D

AMD don't make AM4 X3D parts anymore , so buying them used is kinda the only option and everyone selling them used knows this.. They'd be better off with an aliexpress 7700, moderate AM5 board and RAM for the money tbh.

      • +1

unless he can find an AM4 X3D chip in used market he'll need to go up to AM5 unforunately… all the X3D chips on Ali Exp etc have dried up for the AM4 socket. Still way cheaper than this card… which if Mimik did buy i would suggest a platform upgrade anyway lol.

    • Define struggling? DLSS Quality + medium settings for most (there's a number of reddit posts about optimising visuals vs performance already, as some options only increase 'resolution' rather than density or objects, etc. Shadow ambient occlusion stuff can also kill it - don't use the auto(performance) preset either as it seems to target 60fps? Actually ran poorly when I kept it like that.

You should be able to get away with like medium-high textures, medium mesh, low shadows, low effects, GGAO shading, motion/film/vignette etc all off with DLSS Quality and get probably 70-80+ fps tho may experience some dips…

That said in between beta and now I moved from 3060 ti 5600x to 7800x3d and 9070 non XT and im running a mix of high/ultra etc settings (low for some that dont matter still) and usually 100+fps 3440x1440.

    • I went from an older 3600X to a 5800X3D paired with a 3080 Ti and saw decent jump in FPS, but more importantly, less stutter. Unless you're looking at upgrading your CPU in the near term, the money may be best spent elsewhere

I currently have a 3080/5800X3D build and it does 1440p like a champ. BF6 runs really well with DLSS Balanced and High preset, so if you're doing 'Overkill' then that's when I noticed a little bit of struggle.

I'm slowly moving towards an AM5 build and wanting to more 4K gaming on an LG C3 so the RTX 5080 was the first step there. If you're wanting to do anything more than 1440p then 5080 is a good choice but if you can wait for the SUPER variant, then you should wait.

    • can confirm a 4090 runs it smooth as 4k everything maxed.

      I still suck though.

    • Upgrade your CPU to 5700x3D/5800x3D and buy 5070Ti, much better experience in BF6 with this 5080 card upgrade alone. Might need to update your BIOS though.

    • 3080 smashes bf6 at 1440p with a 5800x

  • Huh?

Online forums suggest the fan is a bit noisy but tolerance will vary

I've been running mine under the desk with the side of the case off and have never noticed the fan.

No RGB and the colours are a little much

The whole thing glows and cycles through colours, and I'm pretty sure you can control it through the Thundermaster software.

    • Oops sorry about the RGB thing, I didn't check it properly - edited now

price is ok but the design is too ugly.

I don't think I have ever looked at my GPU since putting it in the tower and I have a glass side panel

I'm going to get a pc for 4k video editing. I'm using Corelal video studio 2023 pro. What are the cpu and video card to get please?

    • +1

Invest in more CPU than GPU

    • What's your budget?

Your main concerns should be monitor, RAM and CPU

      • -4

Around $1000. Please give me part list. Not for professional. Just my own videos. I'm using Corel video studio 2023 because I'm used to it.

I was waiting for the 5080 Supers as well but they have been delayed until after CES 2026 (feb - march?) apparently . I just bought a 5080 16GB as that is quite a long wait and I have credit card price protection when they drop :)
