  • Great deal, is this available at all HN? if so when does the deal start, and how much stock can we expect?

  • availability is a problem

  • Only 12 months warranty.

its a 3.5"? if so, not that great of a deal. If its a 2.5 i'll buy it instantly

    • +1

      Its a 3.5". I don't think there are 1TB 2.5" yet.

    • +1

Of course it's a 3.5" wilddude. 1tb 2.5" external hard drives cost $300-$350. You're out of touch with external hard drive prices, so your opinion "not that great of a deal" holds little merit.

This is the first 1TB External Hard Drive to break the $100 mark. Cheapest 1Tb you can get.

PS Ash: Cheaper 1TB 2.5" drive here: http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Technology/Dat…

      • actually, not the first to break $100 mark. I know I got mine for $99 (+ $10 p&H - $10 discount) a few months ago. Still, for a retail store, it's a good deal. Not great, but good.

  • Seems like a good buy.

    I was in OfficeWorks yesterday.

I didn't notice if they had this drive in stock.

  • this is a good deal as it comes with the external case already.. bare 1tb drives are cheapest around $84-90.. so a case for an extra $10-15 is good value.. and also this same model is $129 @ msy

    what harddrive is it though?

  • Will this work with my Western Digital WD TV Mini HD Media Player?

  • This must be the first time HN has ever had a bargain

    • Nah, they have bargains some times. I remember 1tb WD MyBook for $126 several months ago, which was on here.
They had the Canon MP190 multifunction printer for $38 couple of weeks ago.
They had a big sale (like 50%off) on headphones recently.
I remember some great deals on some microsoft hardware; mice, webcams etc.

I know what you mean though, some of their prices are woeful. Perticularly PC speakers, up to double the price.

  • Will the hard drive turn itself off if we shut down the WDTV or any media player like WD Essential?

  • +1

Price says $199 on HN website….?

    • +1

      Website must have been updated.

  • +1

Are you sure it's $99? It's showing $199 on their website.

  • +1

Agree. This now says $199. Its likely they made a mistake and fixed it up. I've see this happen before. On a realy cheap Tomtom GPS. That later suddenly became more expensive because they initialy must have put the wrong price.

BTW. Anybody know what brand and model of hard drive IOMEGA use in this 1tb product?

  • After 20 minutes on hold, I can confirm that HN@Auburn DO NOT HAVE STOCK.
However, guy recommended the WD as an alternative costing $127.
Was able to get him to sell the WD @ $99.

    • WD 1TB for $99.
      Very Nice Magnus.

its $199… which = wtf? meh.

    neg

    • +1

It was $99, until they realised their pricing error. Get over yourself.

  • it was 99 then now 199.. missing 1 can make a big different lol

  • $199 now.

  • so did anyone manage to pick one up @ 99$ ???

    • Not the iOmega, but an alternate WD one. I got the sales guy to put it aside for me. I have nfi what the model etc etc is… But @ 99$ and a 1yr warranty I couldn't care less :D

      • Will most likely be the WD Elements, the cheapo one. In fact, yes it will be because it's only 1yr warranty. Those are like close to $100 anyway. EDIT ($127 as mentioned above).

        • I have a WD elements 500GB for 2 years now, and it is a great external HDD. Quiet, cool ,and spins itself down after 10 minutes inactivity. If I was in the market that's what I'd be getting again.

  • i saw it yesterday @99 . i can confirm that

    must be a pricing error

  • +1

My friend bought this model a couple months before @ $109 from joyce mayne, so they should be able to do $99 now. How can that be a price error? If there is one, $199 would be an error.

  • I saw it just this morning on an A4-sized sign at HN for $127, even though they no longer had it in stock.

  • -1

    So, the summary is:

    • $199 is a typical Harvey Norman price (in line with Officeworks).
    • $99 is a genuine sale price with the product having been offered for similar prices recently (By the way, Joyce Mayne is a part of the Harvey Norman group.)
    • Why the price went up overnight is anyone's guess.

So, now that this is no longer a bargain, should it be deleted? :)

    • +1

I guess the price went up because it served it's purpose. This is truly free publicity.

      • +1

Free publicity making us all annoyed at Harvey's, and refresh our minds of how overpriced most of their stuff is. >:(

        • the idiots all think any publicity is good publicity

  • bought this from the knox store a couple of weeks ago for $140, so $99 is a great price !

  • went to Harvey Norman chadstone, it must be pricing error they put on the web yesterday. should've printed out in the morning while it's still error
