A3 Wide Format Printer/Scanner e-All-in-One

I've been after a A3 printer for a while now, I was thinking of getting that Brother deal that was posted last month (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/197540) but i didn't have the cash at the time. This HP printer is cheaper and gets pretty good reviews.

RRP on these is $299 (http://www8.hp.com/au/en/products/printers/product-detail.ht…)
Harvey Norman have them on sale for $216 (http://www.harveynorman.com.au/computers-tablets/hp-g1x85a-o…)
JB Hifi have them advertised for $90.30

I just picked one up from the Gepps Cross (SA) store, they didn't have them on display but the sales rep said they had them out the back. According to their websites stock levels all stores in SA have them.

JB also have 25% off any print cartridge if you buy it at the same time as the printer
And HP also have a promo on printer cartridges if you buy 2 identical ones they send you a visa eftpos cashback card for $10/$20/$30 depending on the cartridge http://www8.hp.com/au/en/ad/twice-the-prints/promotion.html?…
This HP deal lasts until 07/08/15

I picked up the HP printer, extra 2 year warranty and 2 x XL black cartridges for $229.50, with the HP $20 cashback offer it will be $209.50 total.

A shame it uses ink, not toner. $$$$

  • Was really interested as an occasional A3 printer and backup A4 printer. But not sure if it does auto duplex printing. I suppose shouldn't be asking too much for $129…

    • It does duplexing, not sure if that's the same as 'auto duplexing'

This document applies to the HP Officejet 7610 and 7612 Wide Format e-All-in-One printers.
Printing on both sides of the page (duplex printing) reduces the amount of paper you use. This document shows you how to duplex print using the automatic duplexing accessory or manually if you do not have the accessory.

So, HP says it requires an accessory for automatic duplexing, otherwise you have to manually do it.

Did you get a separate "Two-sided Printing Accessory" in the box?

    • Duplex printing: Automatic (optional)
      From HP website.

      • It is the word 'optional' that concerns me. Does this mean you need to buy an accessory or …

  • Print cartridge prices haven't reduced despite reduced ink inside and discounted printer prices.
I wonder how long this printer ink will last (how many pages) and any chance refilling?

    • The XL cartridges are $49 at JB ($26.75 after the 25% discount & HP promo). According to the packet they are good for 1000 prints

    • I get all my inks and toner refills from InkOwl.com in the USA. Helps the business I work for has a U.S. office and hence no shipping cost to Australia, but these guys do ship to Australia and might be worth a look. Even with shipping, you should come out well in front of local cartridge prices and their inks and toners are good quality. Have used them in HP, Brother, Epson and Samsung printers with no problems. See here for HP 7612 refills - http://www.inkowl.com/index.php?p=product&q=7612&product=587… (No affiliation, just a happy customer). Or if you are really keen - 4 x 500ml Bottles - http://www.inkowl.com/?p=product&product=4383 — Maybe ebay has something more local for cheaper?

  • Anymore aware of a laser A3 printer that doesn't cost an arm + leg?

  • Does anyone local do a CISS for this model ?

    Hi OP,

thank you very much for all your hard work with this great post

I bought the exact same as you (except no extra warranty) and used 6% off JB HIFI via smartdiscounts

    total came to 129 + 67.50 = 196.5 * 0.94 = 184.71 less cash back 20

    = 164.71

    • I haven't heard of smartdiscounts before, cheers for the headsup

  • Good price. A cheap way to get an A3 scanner too.

  • I ordered one and it's now awaiting collection. The price has dropped now to $90.30. I spoke to head office and they will try and give me the updated price. Apparently there's a big sale on. A friend bought it yesterday and he spoke to the store manager and they'll refund him the difference.

    • Saw the special this morning, just updated the post

  • Wheres the JB link to 932XL cartridges? For the life of me I can't find it (a couple came up when I searched, but they are magenta and yellow)

  • Great deal, bought. Thanks.

  • Just a warning that this printer in box is massive. Anyone picking up in a small car may struggle getting it home. I picked mine up this afternoon. Head office has also refunded the difference between yesterday's price and today's.

  • +2

I went back to JB today and they refunded the difference to me, ended up paying $85.78 after the 5% Wicked Wednesday deal

  • glad i checked this thread

    havent picked mine up yet

hope they give me the discount??

otherwise i guess i could ask for a refund then rebuy it?

    • You should be fine as long as you pick it up before Sunday, that's when the sale ends.
You wont get the extra 5% off though, that was only available yesterday

  • Well done!!

They fixed me up for the difference on a gift card so very happy

Only bummer when I got home realised I bought 934xl x 2 which is not compatible lol

  • Thank I have purchased 3 unit!

  • if you are worried about the ink costs, you can install iblock ink system for this model.

    http://www.iblock.co.kr/view.php?pid=37&c2id=1

    • Do you have an aussie website or translation? Would love to know the costs?

      • Yes, sure. www.infiniteink.com.au the website is still under development tho.
I am currently the distributor in Australia. If you are interested I can set up the printer with iblock ink system.
