    Can you only grab the Gold freebies on the console if you have no account credit? (ie not linked a credit card to xbox account)
    If not, what's the cheapest way to get a few dollars in my account just so I can buy from the website? $10 MS credit/code?

    Wonder if GoW3 will be backwards compatible on the XBOne?

    I don't think you can download off the website even if you have credit on your account. I think I tried that but still needed a credit card to be able to download. Attaching a paypal account didn't work either for me, I had to have CC details. If I'm wrong please let me know! I want to remove my CC from xbox too.

      As GoW3 is published by Microsoft, I would definitely expect it to be added to the Backwards Compatibility library.

      I just double checked my account and I've definitely only got my paypal linked to it. I was able to download GoW3 and all the other months Games with Gold without a problem.

        Actually, I now think it's because I've got a Canadian Live account and an AU paypal account. But luckily my AU credit card works, just don't really like my CC details saved online.

    It wont be under the games for gold banner, as PvZ from 1-15th hasnt been updated yet.

    Just do a search under games tab and it'll be free there. Just under 7GB to dload.

    So I'm on the AU website, it says free for Gold members, check. Go to pay.

    Tells me i have no valid payment methods on file. Ok, check my Account settings, Yep, got my Mastercard no problems…

    But the payment for the "free" game is trying to get me to add a US credit card…

      Do you use a VPN or Getflix-style DNS redirector? I had the same trouble then realised my Getflix settings in the router was making it think it was a US store purchase. Can't use an Aussie credit card on the US store so just overrode the DNS on my PC with Google 8.8.8.8 and processed fine.

          in the URL where it says en-US, change it to en-AU. Should be good than. If problem persists, try on a different browser. For some reason browsers have trouble changing regions.

    I just got a new Xbox one in June… Don't currently have Xbox live gold but for some reason have been able to play multiplayer online on titanfall, forza, battlefield 4… Does anyone have any idea why this is the case… I was considering getting gold for gow3 and ac4 but don't want to lose my multiplayer access when gold expire… What should I do?

      You get a free month of multiplayer with every Xbox Account, it's considered a trial for gold but you're not allowed to grab any free games during trials (similar to those 48 hour codes and free weekends) so your free multiplayer will expire soon, it isn't an exploit.

        Just to clarify… My account is not new.. It's an account for my 360.. Just the Xbox one is new… After another search for free online for new account and still can't find any info….

          Maybe you have gold on old account or a more realistic reason is that anyone who has Gold on your Xbox One and has it set to home or is logged in at the time allows other accounts (even if they are non gold) to play online. However you cannot take advantages of gold things like games/deals with gold. That other person on your Xbox One with Gold can take advantage and you will than have access to all the games they own. Catch is they have to either be signed in or have that Xbox One set as home Xbox.

          @Zylam Marex: interesting point…. i definitely don't have an existing gold membership and I'm the only person in the house with an xbox live account (and thus logged in)… however my xbox one is second hand and i had to do a factory reset on it when I got it and it did have someone else account on it initially…. so maybe that account is still set as the home xbox account (no idea how this is possible or how to check as i've logged in since the reset and thought i've set it to the home xbox account)…. all very interesting and strange….

          Wow that is amazing, I suspect its the reason you stated that it's still somehow set as home for the last owner. Maybe it's a glitch in MS servers where the other person hasn't set an other console as home and perhaps to unset this one as home and thus as long as their gold is alive you get online! LOL really interesting.

          If you don't have gold on your account and are getting gold because of the old owners account than getting gold on your account should not affect you as what would usually happen is when your gold finishes the Xbox will see if there's another gold account and let you play.

          The problem you seem to in a glitch and that you don't know when the owners live will expire.

          Have a see what you like, but if it truly is a case of the owners Live account helping you than I suspect it will run out one day if he/she doesn't renew and you maintain the glitch.

          LOL can't argue with that. You could setup another account and see if it has access to online multiplayer for free and if it's does add a 2 day Xbox live trial and see what happens when it expires. Might be interesting. I think eBay has the 2 days trials for like under 5 dollars.

          Also the trials only allow online play, they don't allow the free games or gold deals.

If I use another account which didn't have xbox live gold and it still let me play multiplayer then it must be due to the xbox one and not my existing account .. Will try tonight and see what happens… Thanks for that suggestion ..Almost feel stupid not having tried this

          @wippy: created a newnon gold account last night and logged in and was allowed to play multiplayer online… However I didn't sign out of my original account (a little reluctant to just in case of I log back in it won't let me play online) … Think that's the next step of my test. ..

          Tried my existing account on my xbox360 and it definitely doesn't allow me to play online yet I can on the xbox one.. It's doing my head in :)

    Signing into the marketplace website on my Xbox One and everytime i click on Gear of War 3 i get redirected to the "Find a retailer" page. Anyone else getting this (its only with Gear 3, if i click on any other 360 game, its business as usual)?

      I had the same issue. So I signed into Xbox; opened ozbargain on another tab and clicked on the link through here. it showed me signed in and I went ahead to buy.

    I no longer have a xb360 and I only got gold when I got my xbox1, it has let me get other 360 games (PvZ for example) with no problems.

    Anyone have any ideas short of buying a 360?

      Same problem here. :( you would really think MS would remove this requirement now that back compatibility has been announced. Going to be a lot of Xbone owners that don't own a 360 who want to go back and buy the older games digitally. Can't even "buy" GoW3 in prep for the eventual back compatibility release of it.

      Anyone here trustworthy enough to login on their 360 with my ID so that I can have a 360 associated to my account to be able to buy games.

    How often do they release games for gold? I found I had an old "3 months free Gold" card, which I have now activated and used to get GoW3. :) Do they do this regularly?

      Every month. They are normally announced towards the end of the month, for the next month.
      There are normally two games (one from 1-15th and the other from the 16-31st). The quality of the games on offer can vary considerably.
