          @AG1304x:

          whoooosh

    • He still hasn't noticed.

  • Would feel safer with XP, no Service Packs, and no security….

  • Norton should may me to get it…. few of the previous deal can make profits from using norton

    A stunning 3 months before hitting me up for a ridiculous sum. No deal - can get 6/12 month plans of equivalent (actually better) software for free.

  • +1

    Not even for free.

  • +3

    How is Norton still going? They must make enough trapping non-IT people into buying.

      From what I understand, the core of the business, the security analysts, the engineers etc are absolutely top-notch. And then they have a group of User Interface/Windows programmers who may soon graduate primary school.

  • Why would you want Norton on your computer????

  • I don't even bother to downvote this!

    • The ones that know will steer clear.
      The ones that don't know will learn the hard way.

  • Not sure if the 2015 version works with Windows 8/8.1. In my case, the 2014 version doesn't work due to Window's "fast boot" feature. Norton had requested users to turn off fast boot as a "workaround/fix", which makes your computer boot up really slow. Ridiculous! No longer using Norton!

    • Works with Windows 8.1

    Been using NIS for 15 years, zero problems with intruders in that time (which speaks for itself) and the few problems I've had with transition between licences have been handled quickly and professionally by their online support team. It's probably cost me an average of $10 per system pa (we have multiple) in that time by buying various discount offers, small price to pay for peace of mind. Trolls don't apply .. :-) .. !!

      A lot of hate for Norton it seems, but I'm guessing people haven't used it in years and still attach the stigma that it slows the computer, intrusive, etc. to it. It was rebuilt from the ground up only a few years ago, and has been a real contender for Internet Security. Maybe not the best, but by far it's not the worst.
      Whilst I don't use it, it is nowhere near as bad as people are suggesting, and I'm yet to find a free alternative that comes close. I admit there are better paid lternatives, but everyone is making out like it will destroy your computer and offer no protection lol

      • but by far it's not the worst.

        Sorry, YES it is.

        • How/Why?

        • @obo:
          This has been covered so many times..

          • it hijacks your system
          • It hogs all your ram
          • It leaves crap everywhere on your harddrive
          • It constantly wants you to upgrade
          • It brags when it finds the smallest problem
          • It blocks everything you don't want it too
          • It digs itself in so deep its impossible to remove
            Computer says NO

          @nocure: All of this is true for Norton about 5-6 years ago… especially "It brags when it finds the smallest problem" that used to give me the sh!ts… why have a pop up that tells you that it is protecting your system…

          Anyways, since then it has improved a lot, but all antivirus tools are going to add some load to your system, and Norton is pretty well on par with most others that actually work.

          @nocure: If you say so!!

        • @nocure:
          And when was the last time you used it?

        • @Yongaz: June 2014..tried to clean the registry …checked system event logs and there are still ongoing errors involving Norton software

          @nocure:

          Hrmm interesting… because I've used Norton very recently (i.e right now), and while yes it's not the best of the best, it's certainly one of the better ones that I've tried. What you're saying about stuff being left all over, I suspect that's true of most anti-virus programs.

          And yes I've worked in IT for companies like Coles-Myer (back when they were together), IBM, MYOB etc, so I know what I'm talking about.

          I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree, but I have no problems recommending Norton to anyone. Having said that, imo I don't think this deal is worth it though because 3 months later you'll have to pay a high price…. I would just wait for one of those cashback deals and pay like $10-20 (which is what I did). For that price, it's certainly worth it.

    Free trial a deal?
    As above. This wouldn't be a deal if it were free.
    They've gone on the record to say their software isn't any good.

    I feel sorry for the people that rely on the rather than have a proper way of browsing securely.

  • this would be a good deal if it wasn't a virus!

    I'm always taken aback by the ferocity of Norton-bashing that happens on these forums, and I wonder how much of it is based on fact. I'm not saying it's the best product, but I highly doubt it deserves the amount of hate it gets here.

    As others have mentioned above, the Norton of recent years is no longer the resource-hog it once was. I went back to Norton myself a couple of years ago, and have no complaints. In fact I prefer it over McAfee.

    TomsGuide reviewed Norton Security 2015 in Dec 2014 and gave it 3.5 stars out of 5, calling it "one of the best" antivirus programs:
    http://www.tomsguide.com/us/norton-security,review-2550.html

    PCMag gave it an Editor's Choice award in Dec 2014:
    http://mobile.pcmag.com/reviews/6187-symantec-norton-securit…

    Surely it can't be that bad of a product?

    It's good AV software as you can't use your computer once it's installed which eliminates all threats.
