another officeworks clearance - no stock in Victoria - not sure about other states, so might be worth checking out if you're elsewhere

            @nchc: I think he was just assuming that a lot of retailers do great Christmas deals (especially-so this year), what with many now running events like X days of christmas with a bargain every day.

            It was just an assumption that prices would drop. You'll also see some price drops of Vista lappies when pre-loaded 7 installs start becoming the norm.

        Dell's accidental pricing mistake is just that, an honest mistake. I don't see why they should be punished to the tunes of 100's of thousands of dollars everytime that happens. The whole deal has been blown out of proportion because of people's entitlement issues. In this case, the laptop is obviously end of line and OW might have a few of these floating about in out of the way stores and they are well entitled to list it on their website. Your mileage might vary with some deals but just glad ozbargain is around.

          Mistakes happen once, twice maybe but three times and you want to start firing staff. In Dells case they are up to about 8 of these screw ups anyone that thinks they are anything other then a marketing exercise or bait and switch is blind to the obvious, Dell deserves what they get.

    North Sydney, South Strathfield, Dee Why, North Ryde, Campbelltown are all out, even though the system said they have 1 or 2.

    Great price for the specs, incredible how cheap laptops are getting now. Doesn't deserve a vote down, obviously at this price it's going to go quick so it's no suprise they're OOS.

    I feel it does deserve a vote down because they clearly have NO STOCK! Remember +/- votes are for the bargain, not the op.

    Called OW Jandakot (WA). Rep advised it's online only so OW transfers stock from stores to a wharehouse and then ship direct after online sale. Rep advised that if you can not check-out online in your state then there is no stock at that states wharehouse.

    It is very unlikely that anyone will be able to purchase this item in-store anywhere.

    It's an end of line model they're trying to clear, so it's understandable there aren't many left. They've even put a note on their website saying it might not be available to all states so what's the issue? As some posters have pointed out they are available if you call and track them down, so this deal requires a little effort, so what? Just want to point out the sense of entitlement of some posters here is quite incredible. Chin up OP, I think it's a great deal and thanks for sharing.

      Definitely agree with you here. Whilst I won't vote one way or another (simply because the stock seems non-existent, hence no deal to be had), I think people are seriously clueless when it comes to the notion of "CLEARANCE". Comparing them to Dell, because they've got a clearance product buried in their item listings? Really?

        No, advertising items on the site, then only on checkout telling you they have no stock.

        Or they say there are 7 left, but after you buy 3 there are still seven left.
        And they phone a few days later to cancel the order as they were all sold before, and the online stock numbers are only occasionally manually updated. Worse than Dell.
