Nice pricing. Is this a better option compared to the new LG G4 at $792 outright from Optus ?

    • From my understanding I think the G4 has a more powerful camera, but I've decided to go with an S6/S6 Edge because of better dev support, custom roms, etc.

    • G4 camera is very good.. LG UI is different than Samsung; Samsung S6 is arguably a better phone not sure I agree they are very similar handsets. Look at some reviews; S6 has a fingerprint sensor, LG does not. G4 has expandable memory and replaceable battery where S6 does not. Depends on what is important to you.

      • I'm all about Samsung. But expandable memory is a must, and $100 cheaper (and not GREEN)… Easy win for LG on this one.

Here's hoping they won't make the same mistake with the Note 5.

  • Low price at the moment.

  • Nice, nice phone. So damn tempted.

Good price but still happy with the Sony Z3C, smaller body, longer battery, still great camera plus water proof for more adventurous photos and videos under water, magnetic charging, etc. Probably wait for another few weeks for bigger price drop when iPhone 6S launched this Sep :)

    • +2

But a completely different class of phone though. (did like my sons z3 before he broke it)

    • Be careful with the glass..

      • -3

S6 and S6 Edge need that extra care than the Sony Z3C indeed :)

        • +1

No way.. Samsung have always had tough glass.. Sony have known issues. No. of times I've dropped my S3… flawless.

        • @CLoSeR:not the case with the S6 Edge, try it yourself :)

    • +1

Any good deals on the Z3C?

      • +1

Probably not until a replacement model is released.. rumoured Z5 compact.

Awesome price. I bought them when they used to be $1288 but still very happy with my decision. And at this price its almost a steal. So unless you are a Apple 'ecosystem?' fanboy, its one of the most powerful and stylish device you can get for your money :)

    • It is THE most powerful phone at the moment, period, by some margin. Samsung's exynos…

$900 for a Samsung phone with lackluster warranty support? No thanks.

    • +1

      …rather than an iPhone?

They are dropping the price because no one buy electronics from them anymore. They are those companies that try to pass all the currency conversion cost to customers. Whan the rate is not good, they have been very quiet compared with Dick, Kogan, etc.

    • Really? No one? That's a hell of a claim.

Yeah JB is an absolute rip off these days and their deals pale in comparison to the coupon and special offers run by e.g. Dick Smith. They were selling the 64gb S6 for $869 about a month ago. Never any genuine deals with JB so you have to price match.

So bloody tempted…. has anyone successfully price matched this at Officeworks? Can we get any other color with the price match?

    • +1

Yes to both, got a white one at office works Osbourne park in WA. $853.10.

      • Great. But I think I am late now. I will try getting a gold one tomorrow.

  • Nice colour! So green it looks like green snake…..

    • I reckon it's the best looking colour available for the s6. What I can't figure out is why every other colour is not discounted and the 32gb models of the edge are still $998.

      • /Can't tell if serious, or…

SD card slot support is one of the strongest point on why people choose android over iOS. No wonder why they're dropping the price so significantly from 1.2k.

Would pick z3c over this any day. Loving the battery (lollipop update worsened it, but still getting a solid one day battery life) and having 128gb SD card on my phone really does come in handy :)

    • On same boat with you, but 5.1 update just rolled out via OTA, keep checking your update :)

    • if the note5 doesn't have SDM card slot I'm out…
      don't need the s-pen
like the larger screen/bigger batt on the note range over the Sx range…

don't buy into Samsung/other ppl's reasoning that we can use cloud storage…
need storage space to put my mp3/videos for long haul flights/roadtrips where data access isn't readily available…

Don't like the green, probably why it's on sale for such a good price.

    • I really need to see this thing in the flesh before committing. I can't imagine green being too dazzling.

  • Is there anywhere you can get cheap (but new) s5's? My s3 is on its last legs but cant afford to go to 800+ for a phone

    • +1

Yes, Mobileciti.com.au selling white Galaxy S5 4G for $558 A-Tick Australian Stock 2 Year Warranty.

  • S6 RRP started out really high.. this price is more in line with RRP to previous releases (S4, S5).. is this really such a good deal then considering the phone already been on market for a good few months

    • Going buy past and current prices then yes. Cheaper than grey imports too. But prices will most likely continue to fall.

  • brought the white 32gb (only other option available is black) @$920 from TGG few weeks ago, wish i should have resisted :(

  • Officeworks changed their price now :(

    • ahah.. so they don't have to beat JB HIFI.. cheeky buggers

  • Right, just bought one. Can anyone recommend a good quality case (not bothered about the price), screen protector and wireless charging dock ( there is wireless charging available?).

    Cheers

    • +1

Don't bother with screen protector. The glass does not scratch and looks a lot better without one. For the case look at Incipio or Spigen, both have good offerings. Wireless charger I use the one which was posted on ozbargain for Galaxy s4 from JBHIFI clearance deals. They all work the same, a cheap one off eBay will be fine.

    • +1

Yeh, don't worry about a screen protector my S3 screen looks flawless after many years. If you want a case Incase make quality gear.

  • Would be careful with this phone. Two of my closest friends have this. Both have complained of lag and upon showing me it took a good 3-4 seconds to simply open facebook. Another mate dropped the phone 1m onto carpet and it cracked his screen.

1 is considering changing to apple and the other 2 regret leaving apple.

    • +1

dear oh dear. The ghost of Steve Jobs is haunting OzB.

    • Haha, the last line in your post gives it away. Clever disguise though.

  • Anyone know how long it takes for the 'ready for collection' email to arrive?

    • Still bloody waiting for it!

      • Doesn't look like I'm getting it today.

        • They needed ID and a utility bill. Just emailed it to them.

If I miss out on another deal because of ID issues, someone is getting a Chinese Burn.

Just bought one from JB Loganholme. I got it on a 6 months interest free deal as well. They received half a dozen yesterday.
Local Officeworks did not have stock to price beat and the guy at The Good Guys said was cheaper than his buying price and had no stock as well. ( I checked the stock on his register screen)
    Thanks go out to OP.

Yay, 64Gb of Green phone goodness :-)

    • Well done. How do you find the colour?

      • +2

Really nice. Its quite dark, almost "not black", sometimes looks like British Racing Green (for us old farts that remember) yet at a low light angle it shows as mid green metallic. I think it's quite classy (but green is my favourite colour) Photographs probably don't show all the variations of shade. I love it.

  • +2

Just got from Officeworks Osbourne Park in WA. Got them to price match JB so go it for $853.10. They didn't have green so the sold me a white one. Thanks OP.

    • Great work, but a bit late now for others because OW have adjusted their price.

  • Spoken to mobilciti on the phone just asked them for a price match for the green if they have it and the guy was trying to convince me this must be a grey import or with no warranty because the price is so cheap. Didn't offer any price match so i will end up buying it from JB Hi-Fi. Thanks OP

    • Sounds like an OW type response. I love how one business tries to put down another business. I'd go JB HiFi any day.

  • My biggest concerns are durability and battery life

  • Loving the green, loving the phone. Glad I've ditched the iPhone at last, next a tablet to replace this iPad.

  • Damn, went to go buy this, this morning and I forgot it ended yesterday :(
