McWilliams - Secret Deal 96pt Shiraz 50% off Dozen $160 + $10 Delivery

20

I think this is a pretty good deal for a 96 point wine, it doesn't say it's 96 Halliday points but I can only assume it's rated by him or similar (Huon, Tyson etc).

I don't think it's the 2011 Mount Pleasant Rosehill Shiraz, as that is $30 rrp and it says this secret shiraz is $27 rrp…

Sorry, not sure when the deal ends!

Also another secret deal, 94 pts for $144 a dozen, but I think the $160 dozen is better value with 96 pts.

Mystery brand from a website that sells 4 brands? What are they trying to protect? What are they trying to hide?

Partisan Black Label has the right bottle shape and awards. It has a price of $21.50 but since they advertise "Save up to 30%", the maths checks out. I wouldn't bother as 2011 was a terrible year for the McLaren Vale region (and the rest of Australia really).

The McWilliam's Appellation Hilltops Shiraz is probably your second link if the bottle shape, price and points is anything to go by.

    • haha, yeah agree. I got on the last sale when they had the $50 coupons and it didn't really matter which shiraz you bought for those prices, no need to hide anything.

      I don't think it's Partisan Black Label. It didn't get 96 points?

There are some great 2011 McLaren Vale reds. Just gotta hunt a bit harder. Compared to 2012 vintage there are fewer high-rated ones due to the tough year.

  • I don't think 2011 wines were great, I know there are some exceptions I would rather for them money get something else. There are some much better wine deals IMHO. I suspect the 96 points will be from a wine show - prom sponsored by McWilliams.

  • Yeah agree again, 2012 much better value for money.

I'm gonna bite the bullet, my Google skills can't find me the answer to this one.

I hope it's this old lost dog!

  • FYI this was the 2011 Partisan Black Label Shiraz. Don't mind paying $170 for 12 bottles of this quality.
