Hi

  • Am I considered a member if I'm a Free2go member?

    • If anybody was wondering, yes it's good enough as I've successfully made a $99 Essential Service booking.

  • I just tried to book for 31st July at Wollongong and the cheapest showing is $169 as a member?

    • Did you mention to them there is a deal? I would call Nrma itself and see what they say. I am originally from Wollongong. It is possible it is a Sydney thing. There was no motorserve in Wollongong when i was there. $169 is not cheap. Is that the normal price? They have had like $140 something deals in past.

I have received 2 different deals from them in the last 2 weeks because i had my car serviced last time with them and because another has opened in my area. I am thinking it may be a Sydney deal. This is where the person who posted this deal is from.

    • I just checked the website for Wollongong Motorserve. It said $99 for an essential service(member). You did ask for a essential service? Anything else would be priced differently. On the website it says expires 30/6.

      • I priced it via the website.

I'm an NRMA roadside service member and have a NRMA account. After logging in, I go through the steps of putting in my postcode, selecting the town where I live, selecting the closest NRMA to me (which is Wollongong), then click on 'Make a booking'.

It takes me to a calendar, there's the 31st available, so I select that date and then again click 'Make a booking'.

I then get the list of service options showing up. The cheapest (Essential Service) shows up at members price of $169.

I haven't gone beyond this point, as it seems like this is the last step before your booking is confirmed (as you need to enter your vehicle and personal details).

Is there something I'm not doing to get the reduced price?

Maybe I'd have better luck over the phone.

I ring up to book in. You do need to ask about the offer, to mention it, if it is indeed valid.

        • Ok, cheers. Missed the bit in the T & C's, doh!

Thanks for helping me get to the bottom of it.

Edit: Maybe it's been extended to the end of August, as in the T & C's it states, "Car service must be booked and completed by 31/08/2015"?

  • You need to have a Nrma membership number i am guessing. As in roadside assistance. You are given a card with your details on it.

  • Mind you i don't think i showed mine when i used them once but maybe details come up on their system when you say your name. Just call your local Nrma motorserve or Nrma and ask.

  • I booked mine over the phone yesterday and they gave me $99 quote.

I just provided my rego, name and address and they were able to look at it over their computer.

Had it serviced today no issues so far.

    • How long did the service take for you if I may ask?

      • Did it in Hornsby, and took just 3-4 hours. Dropped it off at 9am and got it close to 12:30+pm.

Didn't mind waiting as walking distance to westfield :-). Spent my time there.

      • Mine was about the same last time. Morning drop off and pick up after lunch time. I was also near a Westfield which meant the service turned into a bit of retail therapy.

  • Was thinking about having my next 6months service at my local NRMA Motorseve Padstow. Does anyone have experience/feedback they can share?

Would i still able to get the discount if i give them my dad's NRMA Gold membership number? I'm the owner of car but dont have nrma membership. but the car is listed under my dad's roadside service.

Car is still under new car warranty and capped price servicing (coming up to 3 years now). Servicing with NRMA wont affect the warranty? but then again its about to end so shouldn't matter i guess.

The whole capped price service model is a joke. "Capped" but basically increased every 6-8months. at the start it was $240 and has increased to now over $300.

    • I have always had the same mechanic pretty much but with moving to Sydney finding someone was difficult and a bit hit n miss. I gave Nrma motorserve a try also because of their deals. Just be careful they may try to get a bit of extra business out of you like anyone. They will talk to you before doing anything of course. They gave me a run down of where the car was at.

I found them organised and effecient and my car was fine. I think they give your car a wash also. One good thing is once you use them you will hear about deals they have and they send me a reminder with a special when the next service is about due.
