Chevron batteries from big W are still cheaper.

    • I just got 100 AAs and 40 AAAs for $26 delivered are Big W cheaper than that for brand name Alkalines?

Yeah you could get 120 AA for $9 and 40 AAA for $6, so total of $15.

        • wow ok batteries have gotten cheap didn't realise thanks

    • Did a check on OZB and saw those. Dick Smith 2min walk, Big W 9km.

    • Are there any left? It's kinda pointless to bring up cheaper past deals.

      • lots left where i am (liverpool) when i went there last friday

  • Great deal there are some limits but even with shipping dirt cheap!

is there some kind of battery benchmark that tests the duration of a bunch of batteries? to get a rough idea at how these stack up!

I read a battery test report on Choice. Of the AA alkalines, The Chevrons took 18.6 hrs to get to 0.7V, the DSEs took 18.2 hrs and the Fujitsus only 16.7 hrs. In other words, of the three batteries, the Fujitsus were the worst. In fact, of all the batteries they tested, the Fujitsus were the worst. So if you did a calculation of $ per hour it takes to get to 0.7V, the Chevrons would be the least expensive of the three batteries I mention.

The time at the reduced output for the DSE, Chevron and Fujitsu respectively was 121 min, 117 min and 60 min. So again, I think the Chevron wins out.

The report had a bunch of other criteria as well which may be more important for some. For me, I generally use them in fairly low demand applications (remote controls, kid's flashy toys, LED torches), so I just want the damn thing to last as long as possible at the reduced voltage. I've got a bunch of the Fujitsu batteries I bought from a COTD deal around Xmas time, I think. I'm going to run that lot down then buy the Chevrons, I think.

Bought 20 of these packs the last round. Seem alright. too soon to tell as they are on low drain devices (remotes, clocks).

Go for the environmental option and get the re-chargeables.

And if buying these or any disposable ones, make sure you dispose of them in special bins found in aldi and officeworks for eg.

    • I will as soon as the eneloops drop to $15 again. Yesterday they were $22 on DSE and now they're $19.98 on DSE.
Until then I will keep buying cheap batteries.

  • I keep falling for this. dick smith's click and collect in perth sucks!

You can only ever click n collect in innaloo if anywhere…and that's nowhere near me.

Cool offer, just doesn't work for me
