  • Interesting embargo dates. I will record them for planning future years. Also does anyone know if late June is a 'high season'? I have been trying to get a flight for 2016 out, late June 2016 and the prices jump up a lot. I can't find a 'high demand' reason for it.

    • School holidays? In the northern hemisphere June is when many students have long holidays.

Can't find any nicely priced fares with this discount. Shame a lot of the fare is made up of taxes.

    • +1

Yep. I wonder how much money they make out of cancelled bookings/no shows where the people don't know/don't bother to claim back the taxes.

      • Didn't know you could claim back taxes when no show. How do we do that?

        • http://www.airasia.com/my/en/e-form.page# Case category from drop down list is 'refund'

        • Wish I knew this back few years ago… I did not show up for a quite a few cheap flights bought on impulse buy. Is there a time limit to claim the taxes back? Not holding my breath…

  • Not sure I understand how this works. I tried to book a flight on 5th August 2015 (flight D7 215), but the prices seems normal?

looks pretty simple to me… $339 regular price, $287 special price.

on right side, fare component is $205.60, which is reduced from $257.00 (ie. the 20% off)

The thing is that 2 weeks ago the price was even lower.

        • yep, that's why this deal isn't getting the upvotes.

ONLY good thing about this sale is that prices won't revert within hours of it being announced…. you don't have to pounce on the fares to get them.

  • Need to upgrade to premium to get the 20kg baggage allowance. No where near as cheap as cebu pac (around $400AUD direct flight) for Manila to Saigon (Ho Chi Minh) BUT airasia has more flexibility with time of flights (Cebu Pac has ONE direct flight time).

  • I have been looking for a cheap flight in October from KUL to MEL. Is it possible that there will be another sale for cheaper flights in October? Thanks for the advise!

    • I wouldn't hold my breath. If early October then that seems to be a higher demand period and I avoid planning trips then, in case I can't get a good fare. Late Oct. you 'might' get a good fare.

      • Thanks mate, was looking around the 23rd of October. Might as well bite the bullet and get this flight. Thanks for your advice!

        • Currently $164.91 looks like a pretty good price.

        • @peck: I am getting a better price using websites like Expedia eDreams and Helloworld. Only issue is I can't see how to add baggage and meals with these websites. Is it not possible to do so?

        • @rsharmen: Edreams allows adding baggage at booking stage. Helloworld says that you have to go to airasia website after booking (You would have to trust that you can manage your booking online with Airasia) 'If' you can't add food at 'AirAsia Manage your Booking', then there is always food for sale onboard. If you are only saving a few dollars then I would stick with AirAsia direct. Also if you need to cancel and want a refund of the taxes, then that is very simple through AirAsia, but I don't know how it would be treated if your purchase was through a travel agent.

@peck: The difference is around $80 for four passengers. I think I'll give helloworld a chance. Thanks peck!

        • @rsharmen: Well done. Let us know how you good with adding food and baggage please.
