  • Hmmm…

    MBA 11"
    $1249 RRP
$888 group buy price = approx 29% saving

    MBA 13"
    $1399 RRP
    $1079 sale price = approx 23% saving

Having a really tough time deciding which one to buy.

    • +5

      Dell XPS 13 :P

Having had both an 11 and 13 I would say definitely the 13" Macbook Air

      • +2

hehe I feel as though these offerings with 128GB SSD and only 4 GB ram is kinda setting yourself up for disappointment later, espeically now that you can't replace parts. A refurb model might be a better choice and closer to the industry standard pricing.

    • Where is the link for 13" MBA?

    • I dont know why, but ebay has given me a 10% ebay wide !!

  • $799.20 + $50 ebay voucher. Very tempting.

    • Can you use that deal with this deal ? o.O

      • Not sure, but worked with last ebay promotion.

I have a 10% off coupon on my account.

        • Not for me, it's targeted.

    • How did you get it down to $799.20?

Urgh nvm the above code doesn't work for me.

      • +1

code works got one for 799.2 and click and collect, hopefully can also get that $50 voucher

        • Didn't work for me :(

          Bought the 13" instead.

        • Me too. Not sure whether I will still want it when it comes time to pick it up.

    • why the voucher doesn't work in my account?

      • It's a targeted voucher. Some accounts have it, others don't. I'm not sure how you qualify for these as they just appear randomly time to time in your eBay account.

  • is this the latest model…

    • Yes it has the 5th gen 1.6 ghz processor. Buy the 13" if you can, the extra screen real estate and better keyboard size is worth it.

      • 13 inch is $1074 less 10%, so thats 967 for 2015 model….

        • Technically, it will be $974 with the 10% discount, because there is a max discount of $100 associated with that voucher.

        • But the code CTAKETEN isn't work for this deal 13.3"

      • Keyboard on both units is exactly the same size. Palm rest on 13 is bigger though.

        • No it's not mate. Top row of keys on 11" is smaller. I have owned both.

        • @ShamelessBargains:

Owned both the latest gen mac airs?

        • @MickyH85:
The keyboard and casing haven't changed for like 5 generations. (dual mic I guess..)

The bigger trackpad is much nicer to use though.

        • @Merlict:

Thanks for that. I wasn't clear on the last gen's but as far as I know the keyboards are the same size.

        • @MickyH85: As can be clearly seen in this picture the 11" has a smaller top row of function keys compared to the 13" meaning it has a smaller keyboard.

        • @MickyH85: yep I have owned both models which have identical keyboards to the latest generation.

  • +1

Really wish they had the 256GB SSD version.. :( 128GB is not enough for what I need on dual booting.. :(

    • +1

You can buy bigger SSD's for them - e.g. OWC sells some. But you'd have to organise installation or DIY

      • Do you have a link for that? Most of the sites I've read says the MCA 6,2 models (2015) isnt available. OWC only goes up to MCA 5,1 and 5,2 (2012/13). Thanks..

        • You're probably right. Sorry I was looking at some previous model's upgradeability

  • +3

Screw it just bought the 13"

Longer battery life and larger screen ftw.

    • +2

      size does matter eh ?

      • +2

        That's what she said.

    • Faster SSD too.. by double..

    • How much total you paid? Any discounts for click and collect?

      • no discounts for click and collect

        • So is better for standard delivery?

  • does this 10% deal work with $50 voucher deal? Can anyone confirm?

    • people say it does….

      • That can't get confirmed until August 12th.

        • others say it doesn't..

  • +1

Frustrating that 4GB is still considered acceptable as base RAM. It's not 2010..

    • It is Apple though. They want you to buy the overpriced yet underpowered Macbook 12".

    • +3

4GB seems to be ok for most people… Power users probably choose MBP over MBA anyway. (But of course it'd be nice to have 8GB… Or 12, and 512GB of SSD… And proper non low voltage i7 CPU, but I guess I can't get everything)

    • +2

You are talking about the company that still unable to create proper multitasking. Look at the iPhones. Multitask is literally suspending app and restarts after you tab back into it, you can't even have more than 3 tabs on your browser as the pages will refresh when you tab back into it. Their excuse? iOS is built to support low ram devices. Bloody shit costs a grand and yet can't even have proper hardware.

Most daily tasks really dont use past 4GB since there's still people out there on 32bit OS's. Really the main things that do use more than 4GB are Databases, Virtualisation and maybe some games with high def textures. Realistically Ultrabooks (yes, I do classify the MCA as one since they fit every description bar the Apple logo) are not exactly power machines and more optimised for battery longevity.

      • Mac OS X has been 64 bit only since 10.8.

        • -2

Its not the point. Most people do not use pass 4GB for 99% of the things they do. That includes opening up various MS Office apps, 10 windows of Browsers or other apps etc.

        • +2

@bchliu: That's not correct. Mac OS X will quickly use extra RAM if it's provided, and if you do any kind of multi tasking then it will definitely use more than 4gb (this includes web browsing). It's actually a very RAM hungry OS, unlike Windows which has been much leaner with similar workloads.

Thanks OP, code worked too. God this site keeps me broke LOL.

  • Are Warranties with these Macbooks International warranty or domestic warranty?

    • OP says its Australian stock so I would assume so?

      The code worked for me.

I'm going overseas so I'd assume $80.70 back in GST?

      Total $888.00
      Less GST/TRS ($80.72)
      Less Cash Rew ($17.76)
      Less Coupon ($88.00)
      Less Ebay $50 ($50.00)

      Actual Cost $651.52 ???

      • Whats the ebay $50 deal?

Hopefully Futu IT can supply an Australian tax invoice

        • i mean the $50 ebay cash and collect

      • So this can't be click and collect so $50 voucher doesn't apply.

        • Why can't it? I selected pick up at my local woollies

        • @thanq: Only available in Melbourne, Sydney and Tasmania.

        • @astrodude:

Thanks for the clarification. :) I live in syd :)

      • depends on what the tax invoice says i guess… so tempted.. but i fly on thurs 6th.. i'm guessing wouldnt arrive in TRS

  • good deal though I am more happy if there is deal for 256G.

  • How do you find out if you are entitled to the 10% off code without committing to buy?

    • Add to cart, then "checkout" and apply code there

  • "This redemption code is linked to another eBay account"

  • So this can't be click and collect so $50 voucher doesn't apply. Also tried using coupon but got "This redemption code is linked to another eBay account"

  • Any one has experience of using Unity3D on MacBook Air? Will Ram and CPU be not powerful enough?
I have been looking for a MacBook Pro deal for 2 months, but couldn't find any with more than 20% savings. Very attempting to get this one.

    • 11" is rather small for Unity - I often program on a 13" but even then it's not "amazing".

  • the code does not work. It says it is for another ebay account.

    • It's a targeted offer.

  • Its a silly question but I could not find futu online store on cashreward website to get 2% cash back?

  • Anyone know when this would deliver?
I fly Thursday 6th… I'm guessing it would take a few weeks?

    • Bought it yesterday afternoon, shipped at 5.50pm to Canberra the same day.

If you bought it today you will have it before the 6th (most likely anyway).

      • I received my macbook this morning, purchased on Monday night.

I was told It would have an Australian Tax Invoice included with the delivery…it didn't
Still hoping to get one after contacting them before I leave on the 9th of Aug
        -_-

        • Should be in the shipping email as a pdf document

        • Did you end up getting tax invoice? I'm still waiting on it.

        • @thanq: Yes, few days ago. If came with the email titled "Your Futu Online order has now been dispatched"

        • @unity1:
          Legend!.

          Thanks

  • So crazy that my 2011 MacBook air would cost 700 bucks to fix, aaaand I missed the deal.

  • Awesome deal, picked one up last night with CTAKETEN. I was trying to do "click and collect" and eBay was almost begging me with all their ad banners, but I couldn't find out how - futu only offered free post. Eventually I discovered that "click and collect" is only available in Melbourne, Sydney and Tasmania. So missed that but still a great offer.

Is anyone still waiting for their Macbook to be sent? I'm still waiting on mine.

    • My one should be can pick up on Friday (tomorrow) , how about you !

    • Mine has not been sent yet

      • Hi,ur MacBook is pick up or post?

        • Pick up from Woolies

        • @unity1: what did the website show up on pick up day, my one is on Friday ? I wish can have this week, next week Monday I will go to oversea.T^T

  • Shows up as Monday

    • Mine still shows up as today. I've sent them two messages, one on Tuesday and another one yesterday. Still no response.

      • I'm not too worried. I'm just planning to pass mine on to someone that missed out.

    • Do you know if they will still put the promotion up?

      • The promotion has finished, it wont be the same price

  • Still waiting for "sent" on mine & the guy said through eBay messaging it had been sent!

    • +2

They told me they ran out of stocks and will have more delivered on Monday.

  • Hi guys,

Some of you mentioned that it'd "come back on Monday"… was it Monday the 3rd or Monday the 10th of August?

I tried to contact them through Ebay but no answer… does someone know something about when it's gonna come back?

    • Monday 3rd and dispatched the same day. Arrived yesterday via Fastway Couriers. Keep messaging them, they've been good with replying my messages so far.
