Is this a bargain? What is RRP? How does it differ from cheaper models?

    • Sub $500 :
Have very low max speeds (12-14km/h) - walk and slow/medium jog - no running.
      Few or no incline levels.
      Short belt.

      Sub $1000 :
      Better speeds - 20km/h
      More incline levels.
      Programs for warm-up cool-down etc.
      Longer belt.
You have to pocket your iPhone to get health data out of it, or manually input.

      Over $1000 :
Build quality and fanciness. Bigger, sturdier, etc.
Data collecting features for smart phone, built in TV, etc.

Sorry guys. Have updated recommended retail. This is a bargain and there are plenty more in store. Genuine moving sale here. If you don't believe come to our show room. Warehouse here and showroom half empty.

RRP means nothing and is just a number picked out of the ether, The important dollar value is what you were last selling the item for.

      • I put the RRP up because i was suppost to put the RRP in the add. Can you find a retailer here in Sydney who has it cheaper then $3699? If you can find it cheaper then my special price and the retailer has the item in stock i will match the price.

Does anyone still pay $2500 for a treadmill?

Fair enough if there are quality differences, but that's a price from 10 years ago.

'The Ultimate Choice for any serious runner'

    Wouldn't a serious runner - just run?

  • People who are serious about their training and want a proven quality product with a strong warranty will buy this machine. If you want something that will break down and is uncomfortable to run on then this is not the treadmill for you.

    • 'for those that like to run in their sleep'

    • List price was $3099 which was our old special price now it is even cheaper. I put RRP which is different. We as a retail store do not set the RRP.

It is pretty cold outside running in the morning plus is it really that safe to be running outside at night. Also when it rains i would rather be in my nice comfy home running on a treadmill.

    • Haha wtf

  • Got any models which don't cost a fortune?

    • I have one Horizon Adventure 5 left in a box for $1599.
I also have a Horizon Adventure 3 floor model left at $1100

      • I bought one 7 years ago for under $1k and it has lasted to this day. I was hoping to upgrade to one for a reasonable price but I don't see any reason to: same speed ranges, same incline ranges.

I guess treadmill technology doesn't advance very quickly.

        • This machine will be a lot more advanced then this 7 year old treadmill. First most important advancement it has is an orthopedic belt which is a 4.4mm thick belt which helps absorb impact when running. To compound this the suspension systems in these machines will be far more durable and softer then what you would be running on in a 7 year old treadmill. Does your 7 year old treadmill go up to 20km/h? Does it have a 180kg weight rating?

        • @Stuart Wallace: Mine does go to 20km/h and I don't know if it can support 180kg but don't think that's necessary since I weigh less than half of that!

        • Well i can't compare your old treadmill to a new one even if i knew the model because you get much more out of the new one im offering. Along with piece of mind that it is going to last with a very strong warranty.

I think it's a good price for the product but I can't see many ozbargainers buying this when there is a perfectly fine and free alternative which is to just run outside.

    • nor can i see it getting anywhere near this price in the garage sale in 1 years time

    • +2

As mentioned earlier. Running outside at night can be dangerous especially if the area is not lit up. If it is raining you can't really run outside comfortably and it can get pretty cold early morning and night time which is when most people will be training.

not taking anything away from this deal but Gumtree is filled with used treadmills, many sold as hardly used.

  • "The Ultimate Choice for any serious runner" is to run outside

  • +1

Here's the same model on gumtree for $1000.00

    http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/franklin/gym-fitness/horizon-…

Bargain, shows what they sell for 6 months later haha

True that resale value for treadmills is terrible, though I have a feeling that is partly because they are so difficult to transport. They are huge & heavy, and really difficult to get in and out of houses - particularly once constructed. The other reason is people buy them thinking they'll get enthused about exercise and then realise they've lost half their living room, or purchased the most expensive clothes horse money can buy.

FWIW - I have the Horizon T4000 treadmill, I think it's a great machine (the model down from the one offered by the OP). I think it's a great machine, extremely sturdy, not overly loud. I wouldn't have one in Australia though - so much good outside to run in… but I have to get through the long European winter which is cold, snowy and dark! I honestly couldn't justify the cost of the T4000… but got lucky. I'm a fair weather runner so this successfully takes away the excuse.
(oh, and I got lucky… I ordered a lesser model Horizon treadmill and was shipped the T4000 instead!).

The T5000 on the gumtree link is an older model - the one listed by the OP has an updated console. That said, the base treadmill is probably the same.

    • Mate this is not the same thing. Mine on offer is brand new in the box. Buy this $1000 treadmill you get no warranty and a machine that could have problems. I'm offering brand new in a box. This is also an old discontinued model. Mine is the current model. While that may be a good treadmill it is like comparing a 1995 holden commodore to a 2015 model holden commodore.

  • So many people trying to discredit this deal. I'm waiting for someone to find this exact same model and even get a price close to this. This is a bargain that is just waiting to be snapped up. I can't even find one on any other website in Australia for under $3000. The proof is in google go search if you don't believe.
