Thanks OP, ordered one. Pity they do not support Paypal, but worth the risk I reckon :)

    • Yeah, a few red flags on the checkout procedure had me thinking it could be dodgy too.

    • Don't think there is anything to worry about. Ordered a few things from 1-day over past few years. Site is associated with Torpedo7.

      • Good to know. Thanks.

That 'lol' does no justice to what you said.

I think some of you people need to lighten up and take a joke =)

bad timing on my part. i bought it for $145 last saturday as a gift for a trainee chef. it's an excellent book, well worth the $145.

  • Word of warning - my copy of this book weigh's in at a whopping 6kg, so look out for shipping costs !!!!

    • +2

It's $6.99 for shipping (confirmed price to 3082)…

      • +2

That's an excellent price. Aust Post charge $8 for like a 300g parcel.

  • Nevermind.

  • Argh! Left my wallet at home and they don't accept paypal! If anyone in the ACT is looking at buying this PM me and I'll pay for your postage (so you only have to pay $30 for your copy).

    • +2

Edit nvm lol pretty much gone.

  • +1

That is an exceptional price for this masterpiece. If I didn't already have a copy, I'd buy it.

  • I thought $50 at Costco was an amazing price, but this is even better. Thanks!

  • Fair price, thanks OP
Note that they update these every 5 yrs (approx), so I imagine the newest one is coming out shortly
That being said, will probably cost 4 times the price.

  • Sold out. :(

  • Payment Process did not like my master card for some reason(got rejected)?? but my visa card worked.

  • Sold out. :c

  • sold out

  • Sold out now. Damn

  • must have just got my order through

  • Noooooo!

This is a great book to own if you are a chef, but the best phrase I have found to describe this book is:

'The world needs this book, but you probably don't'

Please be aware that this is a reference book, not a cook book

    • +4

You can substitute "this book" with "more eneloops" and it will still ring true.

  • Maybe try and refreash page, site says : (however if other people don't complete their purchase it will become available again soon)."

    • been trying for 10mins. no luck

      • The baskets time out after 10 mins so i'm guessing that they have all gone

  • Just bought 1!

  • Just bought as well. Remember to keep checking as some more become available.

  • cant believe i missed it

  • Just got one too. Must be some carts timing out after all.

  • Got one!!!

  • Just got one !!

  • Bought mine for 100
    Great book

  • Thanks OP - didn't buy this before because it was over $100 - grabbed one for me, one for a gift.

  • I just got one! Seems carts are still timing out occasionally. Keep trying if you really want one!

    • I don't know why I am still clicking "Try again" as I already bought one but it is coming up with the buy now button occasionally. Doesn't last long though.

  • Its back up again

    • gone again though ;)

  • Bought 1. Thanks OP

  • Must be back because I just got one, Thanks OP

  • I was hitting refresh for about 5 mins before it finally paid off. I managed to grab a couple.

      Are we related?

      • +3

Haha… Think of it as a homage. I'm long time lurker, first time poster. I wanted to sign up to let people know that the bargain is still on after I managed to get one. It was the first username I could think of :)

  • I got one too

  • I really want one! Will keep hitting F5.

  • The refreshing paid off! My first cook book. YAY :)

  • All gone :(

  • +1

If anyone has buyer's regret and would like to resell, please pm me. Thanks

    • +5

On Ozbargain, the only "buyer's regret", is not buying more. ;)

  • +1

Had my purchase pending on the confirmation page about an hour ago, forgot about it. Came home and it let me complete the purchase! Hoping they have stock for me :-)

  • +8

Amazing book, cost $200+ in physical bookstores. Glad I bought one, you'll see me on TV on MasterChef 2016. Instead of wearing the stupid M aprons, I'll wear an [OZ]bargain logo on my apron.

    • +1

Lol. Do some research on how scripted and regimented that show is. Aim for ozb earrings scarf or some other affectation.

  • If anyone has a spare copy they'd like to get rid of, please PM me. Thanks!

  • Darn I missed out, on another note Le Guide Culinaire is a pretty good book, some outdated concepts but still a great classic!

  • Think my wife got one from Costco a few months ago not sure of price think it was in 40s range

  • Darn! Missed this, would of ordered.

  • not trying to be smart, but whats actually so good about this book? (preferably from someone who has actually read it)

    • +1

I'll be honest.. I'm just getting it and leaving it on the bench to seems like I know what I'm doing I the kitchen..

looking at the comments about the book it is pretty clear that it is more a encyclopedic of ingredients than a recipe book, I do hope there is some french basics like how to make a roux or Mayo.

    that site looks dodgy as.

Just got an email reminder that my order is coming in 6-9 working days, but what is strange is the email address @1-day.co.nz. I am positive I bought from the AUS site.

    Cause for concern anyone?

    • no

Just got an email with dispatch details from NZ

    All good

Received mine today and the packaging was terrible….. The book was kept in a bag. The book's display box has a tear with all the corners damaged and the book itself has marks all over… Really poor stuff for such a impressive book.. All wasted because of cheap packaging.. Definitely be complaining.

    • Also received today - was luckier with the packaging - just one minor dent on the display case.

    • I ordered a set if cast iron pans from them . Actually four sets. Three came in a biz that contained them properly. The fourth was in a box with the handle if the latest one or two sticking out and had therefore been mistreated in shipping and the box was quite ripped up. These were the old fashioned cast iron pans though, with no other materials. Just a solid piece if iron so they did not get damaged.

I think anyone who received a damaged box should complain to them and ask for a refund. That really is not good enough.
