I have just found that AirChina offers pretty good prices for flights from Sydney to Beijing.

Plenty of dates available between July 16, 2015 to March 26, 2016.

seems like a potentially good deal. and beats a layover.

what price do you put on arriving chipper, restful and cheerful on the first day of a holiday or business trip - entirely up to personal opinion but I'm sure will interest some. you also get lounge access, a big perk with respect to any nasty delays. it is a 12 hour flight.

YMMV so def follow up on its accuracy before you commit.
