OnePlus 2 Smartphone 5.5 Inch 3GB 16GB Snapdragon 810 - US $399 Pre-Sale @ Pandawill

57

so, it's here for pre-order, ships 1 month from now on.

you could probably argue whether this is a deal, but judging from the one and how it'd sold like hotcake with the invite system id count this as one seeing as it guarantees your sale without the marked up price upon release.

and yes, the 2 also sells through invite but will probably be better organised this time.

leaks suggest this has the SD810 revised chip with better thermal control

4gb ram version also on site somewhere for another $70, this is 3GB price.

Got my One on the last eBay 20% deal, hopefully that comes around again :D

    • +1

Not sure why you got down-voted but yeah same here - probably won't upgrade otherwise.

    This or the moto pure…

      • +4

Its about time someone started doing easy to read comparisons of phones that are obviously going to be directly competing.

The stand-outs for me leaning towards the Moto X Style will be: Fast charging (wtf OnePlus); NFC (seriously wtf); and standard microUSB.

Removing NFC is just bizarre as scaled to manufacturing quantities it came out to something like $4 per unit and the fact that the USB-C is not actually wired internally for USB3 speeds is retarded.

I don't care for the screen res wars now that most flagships are around 1080p and cameras around 13-16mp and fine with decent software/apertures. Non-removable batteries are disappointing but sort of expected, and easily remedied with battery packs.

Design of both is a bit meh but who really cares when you are looking at the content/screen and not the design after the first few days.

        • Agreed mate.

The white look of the pure is the only thing putting me off right now. Hopefully it comes in black front too!

The expandable MicroSd is the real plus with this. I can get a 16gb one and then just grab one of TA's SD card deals and I'm done

The only question mark I have is the battery life. It has a smaller battery with a higher pixel density screen.

It has to at LEAST have better battery than my nexus 5!

Any idea when it'll be out in Aus. It says sept but that might be US only

        • @chaifly: Yup looks to be September for both regions (Europe - Moto X Style; US - Moto X Pure).

We can probably look forward to grey-imports within close proximity the september release date.

        • In my circles, gizmag means something totally different.

I would almost be willing to bet my entire life savings that this will not ship 1 month from now.

  • +3

Not sure why you think this is a deal. $399 for the 16gb/3gb RAM version, when from OP it's $329 and $389 for the 64gb/4gb RAM version. Buying an invite off ebay to buy the phone from OP is cheaper than this "deal".

    • +2

You have to include mail forwarding..

      • Mail forwarding isn't that expensive, it's very similar to having something shipped from Amazon.

I bought the OnePlus One through OP using a mail forwarder and it was only about $30 shipping AUD

Also don't forget, that's $70 more than from OP in USD, you'll pay less than half of that for shipping using a mail forwarder.

        • +1

What mail forwarding did you use? Seems like they are really cheap for something with battery.

        • +5

          @MilfHunter:

ComGateway, it's free to setup and use.

    • Is that price including shipping?

      • No, it was about $30 AUD for my OPO that I bought using a mail forwarder.

Also don't forget, that's $70 more than from OP in USD, you'll pay less than half of that for shipping using a mail forwarder.

        • How much was the invite? $65 on ebay right now

        • +1

          @ozhunter:

Of course it is right now, afaik invites haven't even gone out…. the OPO in the first couple days of launch was $10. And this time they're throwing out ALOT more invites.

  • +1

Do we know whether Oneplus will deliver to Aus yet? Didn't with the One and no mention of it in the Keynote the other day…

    • No they won't.

Some Aussie dude on the OP forums made a thread a while back claiming OP is signing a deal with Dicksmith to be the local supplier.

I call bullshit but I damn hope so.

      • +4

DSE sells OPPO (The Oneplus One was a rebranded find7a) so it could be a possibility.

        • DS had signs about having/getting the R7 $ R7 +, but staff had no idea about it or stock or a display.

  • +3

16GB ROM, never run out of space for apps, videos.

  • +2

    Don't forget it unfortunately doesn't support band 28, 700mhz

    • It also doesn't have nfc, which I use pretty often.

      • +1

What do you use it for? Honest question :)

        • +1

mostly for easy transfer of photos between phones, just touch together and the photo is on the other friends phone, full size, not reduced.

  • All Snapdragon 810s in the market are the revised v2.1 version. Manufacturers are just stating it to try to distance themselves from the bad press in the confusion.

    • What was that about?

      • +2

Overheating/melting issues with the older Snapdragon 810s.

  • $70 USD dearer than direct from OP and you think this is a deal?

  • -2

It does not support any Australian 4G bands until there is an official variant for Australia. Moto G 3rd Gen will be much better if 4G is important to you. Really no reason not to be on 4G by now and if you are buying an expensive phone you should have 4G. OnePlus 2 is just not the same hype as the original.

    • For the One the US version worked in Australia, for the Two it will likely be the Euro version that's best here, but I haven't been following availability of the Euro version. I guess won't be the guinea pig with the first one :-)

    • You do realize there are two versions, North American & Global ?

      LTE band 1(2100), 2(1900), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 12(700), 17(700) - North America

      LTE band 1(2100), 3(1800), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 20(800), 38(2600), 40(2300), 41(2500) - Global model

      • +1

edit: Looks like this version will get 1800mhz 4G, but I would expect at least 700mhz 4G for a brand new flagship phone

  • Not really a deal but ok if you cant be bothered battling the invite system

I recall when i bought the one , i was also charged $15 usd for shipping which means the 2 could cost $320+15+20 or 30 for freight forwarding = $355-365USD

if $35-45 more to skip invite system is worth it for you then great . Albeit no guarantee itll be shipped in a month as some have suggested

  • +6

No way I will buy it for two simple reasons. I am not going to buy a phone where I need a invitation like for a kids birthday party and secondly, if we are not good enough in Oz to sell directly to us they can put it where the sun doesn't shine.

  • I wish they kept a more similar design to the OPO, I find the design of the back, and the addition of the home button (finger print reader i think?) makes it look quite ugly, in comparison to the OPO anyways, which I am currently using and love :)

  • +3

Honestly, at ~AUD550, you can do better than this One Plus 2.
Got my OPO at ~430 shipped about 10 months ago, and is the best phone I ever owned. I have dropped it about 3 times a week since. Great screen and camera.

    • Totally agree.
      * Minimum of AUD$550
      * needs an Aus power adapter for the charger
      * no idea on which model variant you receive, so don't know what frequencies it will support
      * only 16GB
      * inflated price over retail
      * possible warranty concerns with no local retailer.

      I can't see this is a deal.
At the very least, I don't think it is a wise purchase.

I love my OnePlus One, and it's running great. But I wouldn't be buying into this at this price. I'd opt to spend an additional $50 and buy an LG G4!

  • +2

I'd take the Zenfone 2 or G3 for a lot less. Honestly phones are to a point that there's not much improvements going on.

  • Is it still using cyanogen?

    • Oxygen, for whatever that's worth.

  • +1

Ugh, trying to pre sale for more than oneplus? That's a neggin

  • +1

Not a deal, for multiple reasons already stated.

  • Nup US$70 more than the OnePlus price….not a deal.
