MOG officially out of Australia August 31st (Unmetered Apple Music on Telstra to come????)

Hi all,

(Finally..)Got an email today confirming the death of MOG here in Oz.
For those unaware here's the rundown:

MOG's entire streaming library was 320kbps.
Telstra provided unmetered use of MOG on their network for Telstra subcribers.
Beats Music Bought MOG
Apple bought Beats
Apple Music is using MOG's library as it's base.
It was rumoured that Telstra was going to offer free Apple Music for 1 year in June (see this thread https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/201918)
The current rumour is that an announcement will be made on August 4th.
We don't know if Apple Music will be unmetered (I hope so)

Soooo…for those like me who have been waiting to see what Telstra looks like we'll finally know by August 31st at the latest.

Anyone hear anything yet???

Does Apple Music even have a web interface? Is it possible to use it without iOS device & iTunes?

    • Oooh….valid point Scotty.
I'm back to an iPhone at the moment due to issues testing some native work apps.

Never used the web interface on MOG to be honest but could see this as an issue for other non iOS subscribers.
You CAN use w/o iTunes if you have an iOS device.

I'm on a work issued 5c now and am enjoying the 3 month trial without touching iTunes (which I refuse to use).

  • i am thinking it will be for existing MOG subscribers (the 1 year free)

    • Me too. This is one of the reasons I haven't killed my subscription during the free trial.

I love MOG. Best thing since sliced bread. Didn't have any music downloaded on my iPhone and just streamed music via the Telstra network depending on the mood. I really hope Telstra replace MOG and if its with Apple Music it will be great. It would make my year if it was free data streaming on the Telstra network as well.

  • How much was mog?
