[WA] RAC Members Get $0.04/L Off @ Shell Coles Express

570

Doesn't work with a voucher from a supermarket docket, but does double up with the in-store discounts (Spend $20 in-store get 10c off). Handy to know when you don't have a voucher handy.

And sure, you can save 5% at Caltex Woolworths outlets with pre-bought discount gift cards, but sometimes Coles might be closer/cheaper :)

RAC 4c fuel discount terms and conditions: Offer valid from 6 August 2015 to 6 February 2017 when you purchase any fuel type at any Shell Coles Express in Western Australia. To qualify, you must show your current RAC membership card at the time of purchase. 150 litres max fuel purchase per transaction in one vehicle and approved containers only. 4 cents per litre discount must be used in same transaction the qualifying fuel purchase. Excludes Fleet Card, Shell Card, Motorcharge and Motorpass transactions.

Not valid in conjunction with a Coles Supermarket 4c fuel discount docket or any other fuel discount unless specified. May be used in conjunction with the Coles Express “Spend $20 in-store get 10c off per litre” fuel offer. See colesexpress.com.au for terms and conditions of the Coles Express “Spend $20 in-store get 10c off per litre” fuel offer. Either fuel offer may be used on its own or together with the other.

Good find! I was trying to find another use for my RAC card instead of only 10% off at Jus Burgers.

    • Ooh! I didn't know about the Jus burgers one. I've only used it for Hoyts tickets.

yay i can stop searching trolleys for abandoned fuel vouchers :p

  • How much for membership?

    • +1

Free if you have car insurance with them.

      • -1

        And insurance cost?

        • free quotes on the website

  • RAC car insurance counts?

    • I signed up and they posted me a red membership card so yes.

      • -1

I am with RAC and have no membership card. I don't think just have insurance counts.

Special mention to Nick @ Top Bargains for this blatant copy of my deal. The deal I found because I was browsing the RAC Members Benefits page

Nice to see OzBargain still helps you guys out

    • -2

And what? Surely the more people who know about the deal the better. Posting a deal doesn't make it your own intellectual property.
In the same way, deals from other bargain forum sites have been posted to Ozbargain.
      Just get over it.

      • -1

They must have copied from OzBargain. It's not possible they also found it on the RAC wesbite or via the RAC Member Benefits app.

        • Yep my bad, must just be sheer coincidence that someone from the eastern states was browsing the RAC WA members benefits page about an hour after I was.

          Just. Pure. Coincidence.

        • @Spackbace:
I don't see any evidence of where the person is from. Why would someone from the eastern states post about a bargain only available in WA? The text is not even similar.
No disrespect intended, I just thought it was very unlikely they copied you.

      • Refer to:
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/146590

There is a professional courtesy that goes the other way. If a deal on here is found via Top Bargains, Buckscoop etc it's referenced. Consider that a thanks to the original founder.

Apparently manners are something a few people don't fully understand. You know, the ability to thank someone for doing the work for you?

        • Did anyone watch Channel 9 news tonight? There must be an ozbargainer in the production crew.

    Thanks Spackbace.

I know places like Repco they dont check though

oil prices are as low as they have been all year, yet petrol in melbourne is almost a 1.50/litre, go figure..

Deal ends 2017, not 2016 as in the details section. Though itll prob be very much buried by then.

  • Thanks for posting this Spackbace - nice to know RAC are keeping their members informed (not). Hadn't received any notification about this new Member Benefit, and I've had Roadside Assistance with them for years and also have my car insured with them!

  • @SimbaGirl
Do you receive the Horizons magazine from RAC? It lists member benefits, plus references to http://www.rac.com.au/mb for the latest updates.
There's also the RAC Member Benefits App for iOS and Android devices.

    • Yes, I've been getting the Horizon magazine for years - I recently received the August/September issue and there's nothing about this member benefit in that. I also regularly get the RAC newsletters via email and I don't recall seeing any mention in those either. To be honest, I've found the RAC Member Benefits to be of very little use over the years for the most part so I don't bother checking the website much these days in the vain hope that anything actually useful has been added! I don't have a smartphone so don't use the app.

  • ahhh, my free2go membership just expired :(

  • Does the RAC membership belong to the person, or to the car?
If I leave 'my' RAC card in the car, can my partner use it to get the discount - no need for ID?

  • Originally the membership used to belong to the car, but then they changed it some years ago and now it belongs to the person so it's not "transferable" in that you can let someone else use your card, unless it's just a retail purchase that doesn't need a named invoice and the retailer doesn't check/ask for ID. I don't know what the process will be with the Coles Express discount, whether you can just show the card and they have a discount button on the register or a card that they scan themselves to apply the discount, in which case I wouldn't think they'd bother with ID, especially as they're usually pretty busy. The offer doesn't say anything about having to scan or swipe the card itself - I probably won't be trying mine out for a while anyway as the Coles Express near us no longer drops their prices much at all during the week and tends to be one of the most expensive in the area (even allowing for the 4c discount)!

  • Guys if you have a someone inf your family that is 17-19 yrs old you can sign up for free for a year, so if you want i guess you could sign up as a 17yr when ur not (not that im saying you should) but since i am 17 years old, ill just give it to my parents to use when they go to fill up :)

  • I think I'm missing out big time…. Where do I get 5% off gift cards which I can use at Caltex / Woolies?

  • +2

    Just tested this today.

The card needs to be scanned, not just shown.
