How do you get these deals? Do you make a commission when someone uses your code?

Congratulations on comment 6000. This has been discussed numerous times now. Suggest you perhaps have a read of this. Cheers :)

        Sorry, I never read forums.

I wasn't accusing you of doing anything shady. I'm just curious as to how you manage to do it. Do you ring them up and ask them to lower their prices for a few days? What do they get out of it? What's the negotiation process like?

        • I messaged Mobileciti's OzBargain rep a while back asking if they could match a previous deal on the LG G3 and they didn't even sneeze in my direction. Saw the rep was online and messaged again asking for a follow up but there wasn't even a "No sorry we can't do that price anymore". :x

So TA, how do I get Mobileciti-sempai to notice me? :P (I'm kidding).

Just my (very limited) experience with Mobileciti. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them if a suitable phone/bargain came up since a S6/Edge is overkill for my needs. I just thought their OzBargain rep would be a little more responsive since that's been my experience with other OzBargain reps.

        • @WorkAround: obviously you are not as good as a sweet talker as TA. You may need some coaching lessons from Francisca!

He said he doesn't. And does it even matter if he does ?

      • +1

I wish he did, with the amount of effort he puts in these deals.

        Would be a waste.

        • if you said so…

  • I've used both the S6 and S6 Edge extensively and have found the S6 to perform noticeably smoother. Which is odd because they largely have the same specs.

    • +31

Is it because they didn't cut corners on the S6? Sorry, 'Dad joke'… and I'm not even a Dad! Sheesh ;)

      • +11

Very good dad joke. You should be ashamed of yourself.

    • +10

You could say that the S6 has the edge…..

      Sorry

  • In my opinion it is worth waiting a couple weeks for the price cut to come into effect, then there will be bargains to be had!

    • On what basis will the prices come down? Using the force?

      • or you know, the fact samsung just announced a $100 price cut on the S6….

      • IPhone 7 coming out soon.
Chinese phone companies are becoming a threat (in China at least)

      • Price cut announced overseas due to poor sales, the impending iPhone and the new Samsung devices that are being announced on the 13th August.

  • great get tightarse, I shopped around a month or so ago and purchased 2 for the family (SO and I), it was around this kind of price BUT that was for 64GB. Well done on another one. :-) For anyone wondering - thinking about taking the plunge, all I can tell you it is an awesome phone.
I basically upgraded from an 80's brick, had no idea they were so good. Never bothered with any iPhone, Samsung or anything until now - think I can see what the fuss is about. Really enjoying it.

    • +1

out of curiosity, what phone were you upgrading from?

      • I kind of got by mainly with non smart phones (it was workplace issued) so it was the easiest option. I got a Ideos by Huawei a couple of years back for private use. But as I always had my iPad, I felt I had everything i needed. So didn't feel like that big of a step up as I always had the latest iOS well within reach, I did not then and still don't use the phone feature itself - not frequently anyway. 5 time a week say (for personal phone)
I cannot keep off the S6 though, the iPad is relegated to the drawer of shame.

    I am impressed.

Let's challenge TA to make deals with the big retailers like HN, TGG or DS.

Like, HarveyArse, GoodArse or DickArse …

I'm looking forward to apply your Arse code to bring down the price of the LG G4 too.

    Thanks T.A.

    • Looking forward to DICKARSE.

since when did Kogan start selling Aussie stock?? (genuine question)

  • -4

Last time I ordered from MobileCiti, it was a Nexus 5 and it turned out to be NZ stock when they claimed it was Australian Stock. I wouldn't trust this mob again.

    • why did he get neg ? he just telling the truth…

      • you tell me. must be mobileciti staff negging me

        • Hi eXtremist

You have mentioned the NZ stock we have on the Nexus 5 we had on last year, the spec on AU or NZ are same, we did source all our stock locally and paid full GST, we don't grey imported any stock in the past.

We did have few customer had issue when they claim warranty but We had communication with LG service directly and resolved they issues. Please feel free to contact our customer support team if you still have any outstanding issues.

  • Just interested how much better is the s6 or edge over the s5 which is what I have I was disappointed they took the sd card feature away

    • -3

the s6 and the s5 seem to have screen issues where the screen dies out of no where, samsung dont care, they will blame it on you.

      • +1

Just out of curiousity, you seem to bs about what you don't have. You've talked about how everything is glued together on S5 or S6, when there are no glues used on those two products (other than the back plate on the S6). I cannot be bothered to bring up all the examples, just read the entire comments, if you want more examples. I was always curious, what do you gain from it? If what you have is as good as you believe it is, you would not need to lie about other products to convince others, let alone try to convince others.

I personally use an Android phone because it has better hardware (resolution, SoC, RAM etc) and OS that offers more possibility for tweaking (yes I've rooted my phone and have been tweaking around for awhile for fun) at the price point that I could afford. I don't try to shove that down other people's throat, because everyone makes choice based on what they know and what they think is correct. I am content with what I have and don't really care what others think. I tend to stay out of these fanboy fights unless someone says something just completely off or untrue, because I see no benefits from doing so. I only try to correct others because someone lying about things that they have no clue about makes me cringe just enough to act. If you want to criticise, that's fine. I could give you actual examples that you could use, that's actually based on facts.

So from this, my conclusion is, either you feel insecure about the product you own or you are looking down upon others thinking that you know everything. I personally don't know which one is more annoying for me.

    • In terms of SoC, huge improvement. 64 bits, smaller FinFET yaddi yadda (basically faster and more efficient).
In terms of storage, faster reading and writing speed (I've seen some people using SSD vs HDD analogy for comparing eMMC and UFS 2.0)
In terms RAM, faster RAM (LPDDR4 vs LPDDR3).

However, Samsung seems to have this mindset that they can ignore software side, since I've heard fair bit of complaints from people on software (lollipop RAM leakage + Samsung's awful optimisation does not lead to anything decent) + they've taken out a lot of features to debloat (that people were actually using).
Also, even though the SoC have improved in efficiency side, you need to also take into account, smaller battery and QHD (I think S5 lasted slightly longer).

That said, in terms of hardware, because of Qualcomm's failure, S6 and S6 Edge has the advantage over other Android phones (mainly on the SoC and storage (UFS 2.0 is not supported by any other SoC at the moment I believe)). That said, wait for a bit when Qualcomm actually brings a working flagship SoC to the table, that way you'd get more options.
