Rockband Instruments for PS3 and Wii $39.88 at Target

310

Hi all,

Just went into the local Target (Westfield Tea Tree Plaza) and they had marked down all the Rockband instrument kits (Guitar, Drums and Mic… No game) for PS3 and Wii to $39.88

Apparently the manager told them to mark them down immediately rather then post Christmas to compete with the Kmart offer

Awesome, I'm going to quit my job and be a rockstar. So long losers!

    • ROFL!!!!!

U Sir just made my day hahaha!

  • I can't see in any of the brochures… ran out anyway. They don't have that price in Rhodes, or North Ryde! Asking for $119 :(

  • Still $160 at Target Brisbane CBD about 45mins ago :(

  • $109 In Bundy Target :(

  • Just called up, not on sale yet at Target Airport West. :-(

  • no sale in Helensvale, QLD yet :( meant to be around $50 from boxing day the manager there told me…

  • nothing at marion SA, you got my hopes up..

    • oompa, maybe you can pick up a kit for me and i'll drive down :)

  • Pagewood Eastgardens NSW has no sale or even much RB stock left (except for the complete kit).

  • From what I remember last week Ballarat didn't have any, let alone the room to display them. A rack of guitar hero cards to take to the counter, but no rockband kits.

  • Checked Perth City Target, no stock that I could see, and no signs anywhere about this either…

  • Looks like a TTP store deal only for the time being.

    • Sorry definately on at TTP, awesome special went back for a PS3 version at about 5:00. Wii all gone but about 10 boxes for the PS3 still there

  • My local is scanning at $109

  • +2

The rockband instruments for $39.88 will start on boxing day.

    • Is this confirmed?

      • yeah my mate works at Target.

        • is it advertised?

          • @CVonC: no it's a clearance item. So whatever the store has will be it.

  • just to check, is it the whole kit for 39.88? guitar, drums and mic? or 39.88 each?

    • It was the whole kit for 39.88, just no game

  • i just checked and all target stores are apparently closed on saturday (boxing day) for SA, i think somethings wrong with the site

    • Or a public holiday meaning that they won't operate

    • It's possible that they're closed this year — we essentially have two public holidays and smaller stores aren't worth operating (given that a lot of boxing day promos are at lower than cost price) when you have to pay employees penalty rates as well. It just means the deals will be there for you on Sunday.

    • No Adelaide retailers trade on boxing day in SA except for places like Harbour town and markets and what not.

  • Does anyone know whether these are compatible with all the songs on Guitar Hero: World Tour?
The Guitar Hero: World Tour drum sets have 5 pads whereas the Rock Band set has only four pads. I have searched around and supposedly, these are compatible but I've been thinking, what happens with the songs which require the orange pad?

Also, if it is compatible with Guitar Hero: World Tour, will it work with the new Band Hero?

    • The last two buttons merge (or the very last button is removed) automatically in GH.

  • No songs 'require' the orange pad, the difficulty levels do. All it means is expert won't be available to you in guitar hero games while using the rockband drumkit.

    • No, you'll still get expert. It'll merge the blue and orange lanes.

  • Grabbed a set of them at Target Browns plains, they had a few there at opening time.

Can someone confirm what the Wii version Rock band instruments work with from their own experience? I have seen multiple compatibility tables and they seem to contradict one another with respect to which bits work with which games so some first hand feedback would be appreciated.

  • Picked up a set from Target Airport West this morn at 830. They had heaps there then! Better than the Kmart deal coz this one comes with a mic! :-)

    • so its the whole kit for $39.88?

  • Yeh drums, guitar and mic all wireless for $39.88

Does anyone know where i can pick up another wireless guitar for cheap?

  • just bought the set $39.99 exclude the mic from Kmart, how much is the mic normal price ?

  • this doesnt come with a game right?

  • flap! picked up a ps3 kit instead of wii!

anyone want to swap im in perth???

  • That's right, no game.

I wasn't really after a set, and just as well. My local Target didn't have any. Found a set at Big W, it only scanned for $198! lol.

I did see a lonely wii guitar controller at JB. For $10 I had to grab it.

Gee, all that makes it look like I was shopping all day. Ha, only a quick trip downtown before morning tea and the cricket.

    • Might want to ask at Big W about the pricing.. (I work at Big W) We got the managers to drop the price to 50 bucks for the entire instrument pack. (Including Mic)

      • Good call, got a box set with the mic. Well done Big W!

  • Saw the complete PS2/3 kit (wireless guitar, drums and microphone) going for $39 at Target Canberra Centre. I didn't buy it myself but there was only one (empty) box on the shelf.

  • I grabbed the ones from K-Mart… for $49 I got the drums, guitar and AC/DC Live game. The drums and guitar came in separate boxes and it didn't have the mic, but it was still worth it for the game.

They had 100s of them for the PS2/PS3/Wii and 360 at my local store.

    • which store was that?

  • Anyone want to sell me the wii kit? (perth)

  • Managed to pick up the Wii kit at Target Parramatta. Was none on the floor when I arrived, so I searched around for a staff member. When I found and asked the guy, he said he had just brought one out. I went back and there were 5 playstation kits, and 1 Wii kit. Not sure if they had more out the back. Saw a lot of people looking/buying.

Anyway, my question is… where is the best place to get a game cheaply? Any bargains around? I have the instruments but nothing to do with them =)

    Cheers.

  • ahh damn u took the last one :P i went to blacktown and merrylands as well but they all sold out of the wii.. i called up carlingford, castle hill and mt druit.. they were all goneskies too.. i'll check the other stores tomorrow

plenty of ps2/3 ones at parra

as for the kmart deal.. plenty of xbox ones at blacktown, parra and merrylands. absolutely none for the wii.

    • Haha, sorry mate.

I got mine about 4:30pm or so I think. Must have just been in the right place at the right time, as he had just brought it out when I asked. Didn't realise you would have so much trouble finding them in the area. Phew! Hehe.

I live in Homebush Bay, and was going to check Rhodes if I didn't get it at Parra. The target there is new, and I don't imagine many people looking for boxing day sales would bother with Rhodes as there is no Myer or anything else interesting there. Just Ikea. Maybe you will have some luck there?

Still wondering where and how to buy a game for this pack… hmmm…

      • try ebay, you shouldnt have a problem getting a used copy. i picked up my instrument kit today and ive been jamming with the beatles all day. fan-freaking-tastic.

      • after calling almost every single store in sydney.. i found some @ rockdale! they had 6 for the wii when i called at about 4pm.. when i got there 4 was on the floor.. i talked to the chick and she pointed to one of the boxes behind the counter was being taken by one of the staff.. they didn't have any of the game though.. i ended up buying 2.. so there is stil 2 left at rockdale.. they have HEAPS of ps2/3 ones

  • Actually JB HI FI are clearing these out too - I was at JB hifi Chatswood and picked-up a Wii Drum set for $10.00

they also have the instrument pack for $44.00 ~

    • I would assume all retailers are clearing them out.

      1. They did not sell over here (a massive flop, if ever I've seen one).
      2. RB2 is said to be released down under in the first quarter of 2010.

You'll be stretched to find an entire Wii set, as they're the most popular, but Big W are also throwing them out at 50 bucks (the entire instrument bundle).
