PSN Sale - Square Enix & Devil May Cry (Requires NA PSN Account)

120

PSN Flash Sale for North American accounts only - including half priced classic Final Fantasy games and Devil May Cry series. Remember, many PS1 games are compatible with PS3, Vita, and PSP.

Adding NA credit to your account requires a US account and purchasing gift cards off Amazon or another service - unfortunately in $10 increments only. Offgamers.com has also been suggested but appears to currently be slightly more expensive than exchange rate.

Ends Monday in NA.

Screw you! Making it impossible for any of us mere mortals to ever post a PSN sale which will be anywhere near this standard.
I hope you're proud and not planning on going anywhere, you are now the official Ozbargain PSN sale poster. Somebody give this person a flair!

  • what is best way of buying from PSN US site?
Using CC or buy voucher through ebay/other?

    • +3

      Buy codes from Amazon

      • Can vouch for that. Instant codes. Works flawlessly.

    • Amazon code or AMEX card. I prefer AMEX because I don't like buying more credit than I need. Using up all of your credit is hard with a prepaid card.

      • It's too bad they don't accept Mastercard else 28degrees is better without conversion fee.

Our dollar is too low atm so all these games on promotion only in US PSN doesn't help.

Some discounts on AU PSN have recently caught up with US but not all and less titles. Still disappointing

Any games over $20 might as buy them on discs

        • Don't know if you can get them on discs for these prices though.

  • +1

for some reason they listed Xenogears as on sale but it's full price.

  • What about using something like entropay to buy from NA PSN? Has anyone tried? The extra fees might make it not worthwhile but at least you won't be left with unspent credit. Any experience?

    • I like the way you are thinking but after a brief look I'm not sure how I feel about the effort involved. I've also heard some Australia Post prepaid cards are usable, but these will command a few more fees.

Personally I already have a Travel Money Card with Commonwealth already which I may look into using if it's easy enough. The exchange rate is about 6% off what I'd like, but as you say, I wouldn't be left with unspent credit. There may be better options using these kinds of cards.

edit: actually, this likely won't work, since the PSN store apparently verifies address. I'll give it a shot later this week and let you know.

      • Follow up: the PSN Store would not accept my Travel Money Card, but I was able to create a US Paypal account and verify the account using the card. I can now shoot exact money to from my AU paypal to US rather than having to buy in $10 increments, which is nice.

        • And a few hours later, Paypal have frozen my account, wanting ID to show my address :) I guess that party is over.

        • @Snakey Chook: Thanks for running the experiment for our benefit :)

  • Exchange rate makes this a non bargain

    • +1

AUD price for the Final Fantasy games is $14.95 each. This sale = $6.87. Discount of approx 50%.

AUD price for Devil May Cry Definitive Edition is $54.95. This sale = $33.02. Discount of approx 40%.

AUD price for Lightning Returns is $89.95. This sale = $20.63. Discount of approx 80%.

Not a bargain? Some people are hard to please.

I appreciate your comparison and providing examples of games which are discounted. Even sorted the entire table which is impressive.

Since AUD plunged, buying US PSN credit via Amazon with AMEX card isn't viable anymore.

Yes they are discounted, and you posted a potential bargain. But the Exchange rate is causing this to be not really favourable. Does that sound better?

If the same item on AU PSN goes on sale, perhaps the comparison can be done more fairly

And yes I did give you a +

        • I don't quite understand your point, because the exchange rate is factored in the figures I've provided and is still a very large saving over the native AU prices.

Next time what I will do is use the 28 Degrees exchange rate to be more precise than the XE.com exchange rate.

        • I actually agree.

If you think back a few months when there were several cheap US PSN codes around ($10 AUD for $10 USN credit) and compared to even favourable exchange rates now (Amazon is at about $1.41 at the moment!), waiting for some of these games to go on sale again locally is a better choice.

I picked up FFX/X-2 on sale for about $20 a few weeks ago, and DMC Collection was $12 or $15 AUD.

There are actually some games that the AUS PSN doesn't even stock, and in that case they are a bargain (mostly older PSX/PS2 games).
