It should still serve the purpose. The only difference is that the genuine one has some sort of switch that works with power banks i think
I've got the genuine one too and there's no switch on the light itself, it's just that the button on the powerbank let's you switch it on and off (same for the fan) - hopefully it'll work for this one too, although won't know for certain until it arrives I guess!

@EDIflyer: If you plug the genuine Xiaomi led lamp into Xiaomi power bank, it will light up automatically. The fake led lamp doesn't light up by itself and you have to press the button on the powerbank to switch it on.
@gm3stevens: ah OK - hopefully the button will still switch it on and off. Have got a genuine Xiaomi one too so can compare.
The switch is useful because some power bank still output a small voltage to sense the USB devices. This voltage is not enough to turn ON any devices, but enough to have a dim light on these LED lights. Having a switch will resolve this problem.
