Wow that's cheap… if only they were in Melbourne!

    • Just so that it is clear and up the top of the page it has now been price matched in WA, QLD and VIC at Harvey Norman stores.

The stores it has been matched at so far are below:

      Harvey Norman Joondalup (WA)
Harvey Norman Bundall (Gold Coast QLD)
      Harvey Norman Greensborough (VIC)
      Harvey Norman Moorabbin (VIC)

Does anyone know if JB/Myer/DJ's would price match on this?

    • Probably not if you don't have any stores in your state.

  • That is a premium panel at an awesome price ..too bad about price matching for other states

  • rrp on this tv is $2999 on the panasonic website, i think the extra 500 includes the wii
but still a good find none the less, especially it's wa

  • -1

    ad says $80 for delivery?

  • That is one great deal!! Wish they were up in QLD!

  • You can also get this deal at Retravision in WA and delivery is only $35. Its a fantastic price.

    • Agreed, and you know why?? West Coast HiFi is a subsidary of Retravision WA (retravision is divided into Western, Northern and Southern regions, with majority of stores ordering stock through Retravision central warehouses, yet trading under there own names)

…so in other words, call your local Retravision and they should be able to price match hopefullu\y

      • i doubt our local retravisions know that

        • well all Retravision stores are franchise owned under the control of the company head offices.
from my experiences they always price match with much less questions and BS i get from Harveys and Good Guys sometimes…. but i suppose its which salesperson you talk to… ive spoken to some people at Retravision and wanted to rip out their throats :D

never doubt the power of the price match! and how willing salespeople are to do it.
they expect to be asked for a deal or a match.
years ago when i used to work for Clive Peeters id be shocked if someone DIDNT ask for a discount. haha

  • How about retravisions in sydney?

Anywhere I can get this deal in Brisbane?

And I am sorry, but - RING YA LOCAL STORE AND ASK THE ???? YOURSELF - that is REALLY the only way 2 find out!!

THINK ABOUT IT!! OR BELIEVE ALL THAT YOU READ - YES AVAILABLE @ your local Retravision - and less for cash @ ya

    local GOOD GUYS - just mention the add, and they give you da wii on the spot!! Really :}

Safe wishes to all for the new year!!!

      2 words.. dictionary.. decaf..

    • I dont think so…

  • I tried calling Retravision in Brighton (Vic) and was told they couldn't even get close to the price as it was well below cost. The best they could do was $2500. He thinks WA Retravision / West Coast HiFi might have made a special deal with Panasonic to make this happen.

If anyone has any success in Victoria be sure to post and let us all know!

  • +2

I just called Retravision Bundal (Gold Coast QLD) and they said the S10 is an older model and when they checked their computers they said there is zero stock in QLD including the QLD warehouse… and cost price is around $2500.

I will ring WCHF and see if they have stock, can courier to QLD, and what the delivery price would be… I would jump on this deal if I could get it.. but it doesnt look promising in QLD.

    • Keep us updated on how you go… Would be very interesting to see if it is possible to get that price here in QLD… Thanks for the leg run in advance! :)

      • +1

I spoke with WCHF. He said they have sold out of stock in store (probably meant his store only) but they have more on order from Panasonic.. but they wont last long.

He was happy to sell it to me, but I would need to arrange my own freight to QLD. I did an online quote (with and without a tail-lift truck) and the prices came in between $350 and $600.

He confirmed they have arranged a special price with Panasonic that is well below normal cost, so other dealers wont be able to match this unless they are prepared to sell below cost or contact Panasonic and try to arrange the same special pricing.

I might go back to the local Retravision store and ask if they can request this special price through their QLD product buyers, but it depends if the sales guy wants to go to the effort.. if the QLD head office is open at this time of year.. if the product buyer for QLD feels like trying to get this price from Panasonic.. if Panasonic choose to do it for QLD.. so unlikely.

  • at 312W on normal mode, its surprisingly power efficient. though bear in mind that's not the max power rating, which may be 500W or so.

lcd panels are rated by their max. 220W for a 46W sony for example

    • Thats because the majority of the power drawn by an LCD is through it's backlight, and this is constant. Plasma power draw differs depending on what's displayed on the screen, ie a white screen while draw alot more power than a black screen.

      • precisely.

  • this would a great deal if you could find someone who has stock of this mamoth of a tv in nsw
i have a feeling that it's an old model that pana is trying to clear out and let the new neo plasmas enter the market

Thanks, got Harvey Norman Joondalup to price match!

  • Garden City HN quoted $2269 as their best price.

    • That is still a pretty good price.. HN should be able to do this nationwide if they dont have access to the special WCHF/Retravision pricing and are preapred to do this at Garden City.

I might make a trip to my local HN today..

Ideally Id like the Samsung 55" 1080p for $2995 (link below) but if I can save $700+ and get a free WII then Id happily drop an inch and go for this Panasonic..

  • has anyone managed to price match in vic?

  • +2

    WOOOOOP from QLD

I stopped in at JB Hi Fi, saw the price ticket was $2999, and asked what price they could do. They said $2700. I showed them the WCHF brochure and the guy said he couldnt match it as it was way to far below cost, but he could match the HN price of $2269 (still below cost) but did not have stock today.

Drove to my local Harvey Norman, and they also had it on display with a price ticket of $2999.
I asked the sales guy if he could do $1999.
He immediately said Yep he could do exactly that price, so I said Id take one.

Its now sitting here in my lounge… $1999 from Harvey Norman Bundall (Gold Coast QLD).

Be aware its a BIG box… even after taking the TV out of its box it was still too high to stand in the back of my RAV4 SUV with the seats folded flat, and we even tried it across the back seat and the TV (out of box) is wider than the car!
Had to come back with my Dads truck…
And you cant lie them down flat cos the weight of the glass panel can smash itself if you go over a bump hard.

      • Well Done!! Fantastic Work! I hope the TV looks good all set up now :)

By the way, did you manage to get the Wii bundle as well with the Deal??

        • Thats what I was wondering, it sure is a sweetener, bit like cash back really.

I saw the box and it wasnt too bad, its a big TV…. and 42KGs, Ive got a trailer any how :)

        • Absolutely, the Wii is a Panasonic promotion, so has nothing to do with the retailer or the price you pay for the TV. However the guy at HN gave me the Wii promotion flyer that shows how to claim for it.

I submitted my Wii claim online yesterday and today I am posting away the receipt (which they return with the Wii) so it should arrive in the next few weeks.

  • anyone in sydney have any luck?

    • +1

Hopefully HN will do this price nationwide.. the guy said he was aware of the $1999 pricing and was easily able to do it.. even though the price ticket still said $2999.

Have you visited or phoned your nearest Harvey Norman store ? Stock was going fast at my local.. almost 40 units sold in a couple of days.. mine came from the last 10 units left.

I just placed by Panasonic 50" Plasma on ebay for less than 1/3rd what I paid for it.. still under warranty.

      • +1

called 2 harvey norman stores, both guys became really aggressive and rude and told me it was for way under cost price. they were very sarcastic and said they'd never heard of west coast hi-fi and i should find business elsewhere. do you have any ideas about how i could get that price? price match your harvey norman?

        • +1

Ring HN Bundall and ask for Matt.. since its a nationwide chain he MAY be able to process the sale for you with pickup from your local branch..

          • +1

@systmworks: thanks heaps! i'll try it out tomorrow. let you know how it goes.

  • In perth/cannington store just bought one, cheers for this, just what I wanted, none left at the shop but seem to have no trouble getting them in, I got the extra 4 year warranty too (so 5 years), was only $250, I already have a chipped Wii so have no need for another one so ebay.

    • Just in case you don't already know - you don't need to chip the Wii to play "other" games… There is a way around it….

      • Yer I know, but its a heck of a lot easier.

Cant wait for me Big TV my 42" plasma looks small now lol

        • Hahaha - Good job!

    • do you have a copy of the receipt mate? i just went to get one and they quoted me 2 years warranty for $250, 4 years for $330

      • no need anymore mate, snapped one up with 4 years extended warranty for $1999 + $255

  • +1

I went to HN in Melbourne - Greensborough and they price matched with no problem - got the TV yesterday and it is amazing - my old Aldi LCD is going in the bin!

    • +1

hey tmike can you send us a copy of that receipt?

    • +1

Hurray. Finally, someone got the price match from Melbourne. Good job!!! send us receipt please. By the way. Do you paid cash or credit card to get this deal?

      • I know this question was meant for another person, but FYI I paid using my credit card.
The sales guy never asked how I was paying.. he just wrote up the docket and I took it up to the cashier and paid.. so I am sure credit card (at least Visa/Mastercard) will be fine.

        • Thanks for your great great information.

  • was wondering if anyone could answer this question.
if i got this price matched, and i'm going overseas soon, can i get it 10% off as well? tax free?
not really sure how it works so if anyone could help i'd appreciate!

    • +1

If you are planning on showing up to the TRS (Tourist Refund Scheme) counter with your plasma (or proof that you checked it as luggage) then sure!

      • +1

~50kg might be a little over their allowed baggage though ;)

    • Technically yes. But how are you going to carry this giant monster to oversea and coming back. Plus u will be taxed by more than 10% when back to aus. Surely not worth.

  • +3

I just wanted to let everyone know that I also just got this TV at $1,999 from Harvey Norman Moorabbin (Vic) without any trouble. I didn't even show the sales guy a copy of the other deal, just walked up to the TV, he came over, I said I had found this for $1,999 elsewhere and wanted them to price match it. He walked away and came back saying it was below price but he could price match it anyway. Wasn't in stock, so I'll have to wait approx 15 - 20 days for it but I didn't care.

I will scan / photograph my receipt for anyone else shortly.

Just trying to fill in my Panasonic Wii claim now, there is an option on there if you have a backorder too.

REMOVED by MOD by request from OP

    • Good on them for matching a product that's (well) below cost.

    • Another one from Melbourne. Good job;lostsock. Thanks for ur valuable information and scan receipt. Surely I will try tomorrow.

    • Can a mod please delete the link to the receipt in my previous post. I'll expain why later

      • please explain? i was just about to post my receipt up but you have me worried

        • Lets just say that if you do post your receipt, make sure there is no way at all of someone at the store identifying you from it.

          • @lostsock: Why would the retailer or sales guy mind if you share your receipt as proof of a deal ?

I do suggest blanking out your address (if shown) in case some dodgy person tries to score themselves a free TV…

  • TV has "Retra wholesale" on the box so Retravision must be able to do it for same price??

Annoying that it only has one Component input but 4 HDMI inputs, my Topfield TF7100HDPVRt only has component but the Wii is more important so Toppy will have to use RCA as the DVD player will have to use S-video, man all over the place, what can you do…

    • If you have a home theatre "receiver" with upconversion/upscaling (which many do these days) you can input all your devices (using composit/svideo/component/hdmi) into its various sockets, and then just have a single component or HDMI cable running to your TV carrying all the signals..

    • My Topfield 7100 has HDMI output

      • Yer it does :) I just didnt see it and I dont have a cable.

  • anyone in sydney tried to get a price match successfully.

went to a bunch of stores today and most wont go down below $2500 quoting it's below cost price.
but harvey norman at homaker supa center near the city is willing to go down to $2300 for cash ($2388 for finance)

  • sorry double post…. someone delete it?

  • +1

For those in Adelaide, Harvey Norman Marion will go down to $2100

    • Thanks for registered to tell us this…anyone in SA had any luck @ $1999?

      • +1

Yeah i just bought one in Harvey Norman City Cross for $1999, dude said it was below cost but he was happy to match it.
Also discounted extended warranty, 4 years for $255.
I was happy with that as when i went in on my lunch break he told me 2 years was $250.

        • Do you know who you delat with at City Cross? Going there to try and buy one now… Thanks!

    • Got mine price matched at Gepps Cross Harvey Normans in Adelaide for $1999 + $200 for warranty to 5 years and $50 to deliver, arrives Monday and my old tv just got picked up, sold for $300 on ebay sweeeeeet. Didnt even have to bargain with the bloke at HN, showed him the price and hes like wow thats cheap ill go check with the boss and he came back and just said so, cash or credit? So it was a pretty easy deal. They had about 6 other people behind me waiting to speak to him about the same TV. HN had it on special for $2359, so I took another $360 off it. Thanks to the OP

Saw it in David Jones today for $2999 + $480 for the warranty just laughed :)

  • HN in brisbane city $2100 + $179 for 4 yrs extended warranty…not too bad I think

  • -6

Browns plains Harvey Norman wont go below
2100. System works any chance on getting a copy of your
    reciept? Cheers

    • Sorry, my original receipt has been posted away with my Wii claim (they only accept originals) and besides it was a hand written docket cos their computer system was down at the time.

You could try ringing HN Bundall and asking for Matt and see if he can sell you over the phone, but for pickup from your local store ?

    • I reckon you should retract your vote. How ridiculous to vote negative because you could only get within $100 of the original price which was for a store in WA. Sure, others have got a price match at other HN stores around the country, but your negative is a vote for this post not being a bargain, but your effort to get a price match at HN Browns Plains confirms you really do think it's a bargain (or else why would you try to get one?)

Sorry systmworks, I negged your comment accidentally.

  • bought for $2100 after phone conversation. no extended warranty no extra anything
too hot here in Adelaide to stuff around for an extra 5% off

Can't believe I bought one as well.
Went to HarveyNorman @ cannington, Make them beat the price of Westcoast HiFi.
    Bought it for $1950.00 + $195.00 (10% of 1950) for Extended 4 years warranty.
Hired Ute from Bunnings for $20.00 per hour.
Alreasy claimed my Wii Pack.. Now relaxing in fron it with a Chilled Beer in my hand… Happy like a Hippo !!!!

    • Wow, good one mate!
You beat me buy $104, oh well.

  • HN at browns plains won't go below 2100 and
    380 for 4 yrs warrenty

  • HN at Sunshine Vic match the price and $200 for an additional 4 year warranty & $50 for delivery. Thanks for the post - awesome deal

    • Is the additional warranty manufacturers warranty or Harvey Norman warranty?

      • Its Harvey Norman Warranty

  • Hn gepps cross in Adelaide just did mine for $1999 + $200 warranty thanks guys

  • Does anyone know when the West Coast Hi-Fi sale ends? Also has anyone gotten a price match in the Sydney area?

    • It finished on Thursday according to the origional PDF linked to.

Quote "Massive Stock Clearance, Starts today [27/12/09] ends Thursday [31/12/09] … Six days only"

  • im going shopping for one tomorrow… hope HN at loganholme will do it for that price

  • Anyone wanna know why Panasonic has extended the bonus Wii promotion?

    Got the 54S10 for $1650 + $339 4 years extended warranty = $1989 from DJs

You think its worth $85 a year for extended warranty? Can cancel the warranty within 21 days

    • wow, seems to be getting cheaper and cheaper.

    • Which store? How? For that price, I want one as well!

      • Got to be an error or wind up - $1650 for a 54" Viera S10 ?? I don't believe it.

  • Reading around, opinion seems lukewarm on this model. In particular relating to brightness and the fact that it's not really full HD in motion (apparently shown at 900 not 1080 lines, unlike the G10 series). Anyone found any good reviews?

  • And radio rentals in South Aust want $2,698 with no wii advertised ! thats current 30 jan 2010 - 26 feb 2010 think i might see HN at Gepps Cross.
As Usual , we get ripped off in S.Aust , god bless the internet for bargains ! Screw local retailers they can go to hell!

    Cheers
