1st Choice have some Highland Parks on special at the moment too. I had a report of the 1990 scanning at $110 at an ACT 1st Choice. This info is hearsay from a mate so take it with a splash of coke.

I can confirm the Philip 1st choice store in Canberra has the 1990 for $110 (labelled) and the Leif Erikssson Release for $140.

Now i just have to research the difference between the 3 although the Leif seems to get poor reviews so could be down to the 18yo and the 1990

      • Thanks for the confirm worthy1. He still had an Oban open so I couldn't convince him to let me taste the 1990.

FWIW, here is a review comparing the two. Note that the 1990 is a 20yo whisky.

        • Thanks for the link. Seems they are both a good drop. The 18yo has a slightly lower RRP than the 1990 (20YO) which i found interesting but seems the better deal at $110

I forgot to mention 1st choice also had the 1994 for $85 (save $35) and next to them a bottle of Glefarclas 15yo for $125 (save $14).

        • @worthy1:
I'm not a fan of Highland usually but the 1990/1994 might be a good collectors buy. Thanks for the info on the others mate.

        • @cymon:
So you feel these could increase in price as time goes on?

Just thinking this means Dan should beat the price at 1st choice so even more of a discount could be had on the above…

        • @worthy1:
I wasn't really thinking in terms of resale, just to have on show in your collection. It's hard to make any good coin on whisky collecting these days, especially on something you buy in a store like 1st Choice; imagine how many bottles are out there! You need to go after the special editions and the cask strength stuff that are hundreds per bottle.

Dan might match depending on the effort of the employee working. It is $145 online for the 1990 so they would have to call a 1st Choice store nearby. Even then they usually only beat by a dollar or so.

I'm trying to find a 1st Choice that has a 1994 as I want one of them too.

        • @cymon: Thanks for the advice.

No worries i wasnt sure of how much Dan usually beats it bye was hoping 10% (too many Bunnings Ads :)

Good luck then, the 1994 must be a popular drop then as it was all out in the Phillip store when i was there

I got a couple bottles of the 21yo from this bargain deal a while back https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/162019

    Haven't open them yet though.

    • Don't be in a rush to open them. While it won't get better with age, the value will certainly increase - I know someone who buys old or rare wisky as a long-term investment.

      I can't believe I missed that deal.

Only special type of alcoholics do that

  • Why is this orange juice so expensive ?

$130 is more than I usually like to pay, but it's probably worth it for an 18 year old. They are often quite smooth and tend to go down easier too, which is always enjoyable.

    • Terrible!

  • Change topic for delivery - it isn't the same per location. I'm being charged $12 for standard and no option for next day (to Tas)

  • Noticed there are some other delivery specials including Glenfiddich 15YO $89.95 + $7 ($96.95), though with this the saving is only a few dollars off regular prices (was $102.99).

  • Enter "MGIFT" to get a mystery gift bonus liqueur, because your purchase will be over $50 here.
