I know it's been available for better prices in the past, but $85 for what is according to most reviews an excellent scotch seems like a good deal to me.

Dan's has it for $89.95 online price, $105 in store, so there is definitely still a modest saving here.

Regarding the liquor itself, one reviewer on Master of Malt said

this is one good whisky to be savoured alone or with a few good friends and you'll find peace on earth even if it's temporary.

High praise indeed; looking forward to cracking this one open.

    This is a peated malt. Its an acquired taste. If you've never tried one before (like laphraoig, ardbeg, caol isla, talisker etc) you may not like it. Definitely not a single malt for a beginner.

    Tasting notes may include words like: asphalt, disinfectant, bandages, smoked dirt, sea kelp, iodine etc..

      Not entirely sure why you got downvoted ??

      Anyway I kind of landed on Ardbeg as my favourite "standard" peated malt and haven't moved in a while. When it's on sale i always get a bottle! I love how when you take a glass outside on a cold night it goes cloudy (fatty acids, esters and proteins precipitating)

        Maybe I should have said I have it with coke :-) even though it is my favourite, I normally have it on special occasions. I tried Ardbeg a few months ago. I'll get it next time I'm buying whiskey

    This is basically the standard price for this whisky as it gets discounted so often. I wouldn't pay more than $80 for it if you like a bargain.

        I did as well yesterday, however the sales clerk said that they now only beat the prices by 50 cents, however still a great deal one of my fav Whiskey. I stocked up and bought 2, but considering to either buy 2 more or wait for another Lagavulin deal.

    It's orgasmic. This is the only Scotch I ever buy. Everything else just tastes rubbish in comparison.

    As a result of my love affair with this expensive bottle I don't drink scotch very often.
