cmon now, lets be honest, its not 2000 lumens

    • yeah, i have one of these same flashlights with a Q5, bought from Banggood (i think) and they advertise them as around 400-500 lumens, so no way this is 2000 lumens.

      • Yes, you are right. It only has 500 lumens. Just updated the descriptions.

Even 500 lumens is impossible for a Q5-binned Cree XR-E. In reality it will be somewhere between 100 and 200 (depending on the driver and the battery used), but no more than that.

frankly im sick of these dodgy asian retailers blatantly lying about the specs of the crap they sell, it devalues any legitimate sellers who may not lie. as said above these are probably closer to 100-200 lumens, which is extremely bright for such a small and cheap torch.

i did want some more of these but feel like im being played for a mug by trying to claim an impossible 2000lm so screw it ill wait till s more legitimate deal comes along where they are at least close to the real rating before getting more.

rep, change your web page to also reflect a slightly more believable lumens and quit being so (profanity) dodgy

Yes, you are right. Will ask the seller to change it.

    • HI,
I will check it with the seller to see whether it's 2000 lumens or not.

hahaha… these are decent little torches, especially for under $5… and maybe… in perfect conditions (lucky bin, great solders, fresh hi discharge rate 14500, etc), you MAY get 150+ lumens… (which is very bright!), but you will never get anywhere close to 2000!
I think the theoretical max on these is around 300lm, in perfect conditions & not taking into account an losses through the driver, etc.

        • mine that looks identical does not seem to have a driver at all from memory (it has been a while since I looked though).

Doesn't it have something to do with exchange rate ie 10 Chinese lumens = 1 Australian lumen?

    • 1 AU =4.6966 RMB It's an advantage for Australia to export more to China.

  • The website is really buggy, dunno if my order went through or not, didn't really need it so not that bothered.

Bought about 50 of these for a similar price via a few OzBargain deals mid-late last year At least they look identical so I can't see why they'd be different. Anyway, I loaded them each up with an AA battery and gave most of them away as Christmas presents to friends, neighbours & workmates etc. and to this day I still get people telling me how amazing the torches are! I also have a few left around the house and they're still going strong. Great little torches indeed!

  • I just orded the XML-T6 from ebay last night, I got 2 cheap thanks to OzBargain in the last year.
I'm using the XML's (18650 batteries) because I'm SICK of all my AA crees becoming useless crap.
There's something cheap with the aluminium they're made with and they tend to 'decompose' and or simply stop detecting the power button being pressed.

I have 6 flashlights around my apartment I use regularly, the only consistently working ones which don't seem to break down are the 18650 models.
I think the amount of oxygen in the rubber sealed cree casing, somehow, there's too little air or too much but something causes minor corrosion and the aluminum simply doesn't transfer a signal well enough to consistently work. HAve to "bang" the torch to get it to turn on.

    Nope :/ sorry.

    • I prefer 18650 lights myself, but that's mainly because I predominantly use them on my bike and the battery lasts longer.

Other than that I've never had an AA light fail on me, with the exception of an AA light I bought for $2.50 that looks very much like the light pictured in this deal.

Ensure you are using decent nimh batteries (such as our beloved Eneloops, or similar) and buy decent lights. Cheap, reliable Chinese lights can be had for as little as $15 - $20. But you have to pick the brand and the seller (a lot of sellers are selling fakes).

Oh yeah… http://budgetlightforum.com/ for all your budget flashlight needs. Then there's the big brother Candle Power Forums (CPF) if you have a little more cash to splash.

  • I say spend a couple of bucks more for a real sipik-sk68. I have 6 or more generic copies like this and they all have been doa, failed quickly or the clicky switch plays up intermittently but frequently (as hamwhisperer said above). My 2 sipiks (which I had first back 4 or 5 years now) just keep on going, even when they are used so much the have very little black on them now. I had people say I must have just been unlucky with the generic ones, so I bought more and they did the same thing too. Oh and I hate the 3 mode version, I either want light (switch torch on) or not (switch torch off). None of this strobing non-sense. I'm not Hit Girl trying to save Big Daddy from the flames.

  • Agree with the previous comments about the poor quality of these. Bought six of them last year (Ultrafire ones - they've been posted here several times under various brands), and rather than a bargain, got pretty much what I'd expect for $3-4 - unreliable torches with unimpressive beam.
