      Yep something you need. I've got my eye on the jetboil cookers http://www.mountaindesigns.com/search/products?searchTerm=je…

    • these Salamons are great, son has had one pair and hike 100's of km through bush over 2 years and they are now just replaced with another pair ready for more hiking in PNG.

      good price for Aus , we paid $170 recently at wild earth and they were the cheapest then.

      this Camelbak is god to

      we have one, nice size, we paid $110 on sale so this is a good price.

      • I bought a different model Salamon high boot last week, I'm please to hear good things. The boots I got are super grippy. Bought 4 boots in all for the family and some other sundry clothing at the clearance store in Richmond. I was interested in the model you mention, but they did not have them in stock, even though the site said they did. They have a few outlet stores I think.

        Oh the outlet store is not on sale as they are not RRP. Still cheap though.

        • outstore on the gold coast had womens versions for $120, super cheap. But no mens so not for us.

        • make sure you buy really good socks to go with the good shoes. really helps with getting no blisters.

          we got $35 socks, crazy price, but our son has never had blisters with nearly everyone else in the group has.

        • Everyone's different. I've an ex who ran marathons and she just bought standard white socks from Target/K-Mart etc. Ran times like 3hrs 20min so she wasn't slow.

          I was disappointed in the Saloman XT Hornet shoes I got from an OzB deal last year. The sole wore quickly and I needed to superglue the toe box area when the stitching came apart. Maybe I just got a dud pair? Anyway didn't turn me off the brand so I might check out both MD & Wiggle.

      • Cheaper Salomon here http://www.wiggle.com.au/salomon-xa-pro-3d-shoes-ss15/ just bought a pair a month ago.

          Thanks Columbian but they are a different model. PVA was showing the GTX version of the xa 3d pro. Mountain designs had the non GTX model for under $100 last week.

          Wiggle has 2 GTX versions, both more expensive:

        • @ShipShapeRC:
          Thanks, didn't pay attention to that. Can you tell me the difference between them?

        • +1

          @Colombian:

          One is more expensive than the other??? I think the GTX version was waterproof & breathable, some variant of goretx. Looks like Mountain Designs have sold out.

          @Colombian:

          GTX is the goretex lined version. Imagine a gortex sock inbetween the inner and outer of the shoe so that it's waterproof and 'breathable'.

          These are more prone to stinkiness, and if you're trailrunning and step in a puddle that lets water in, the water can't get out either.

        • as long as you know your exact size. I prefer to try them on. (and support a store.) when I looked wiggle were around $25 cheaper so no biggy for me..

        • @Colombian:
          goretex.

        • @wittyusername:
          we have found water to be fine for the goretex one, and stink free over 3 years.

          PNG hike will test them though.

    • I was at the store today and saw up to 70% off on a few items. Some trousers don't have all sizes - only XS OR XL and above

    Anyone tried the merino underwear?

    • Havnt tried. Read bad reviews. i wouldn't.

    • Yes, am wearing a pair right now, not because I like them but for the $20 they cost me I need to get some wear out of them. They fit a little tigher than other brands that I have tried and are not as well made. However I've only (currently) got macpac brand to compare to.

    • Shit compared to icebreaker but much cheaper. You get what you pay for.
