Qantas Flash Sale: Sydney/Melbourne/Brisbane to Hong Kong $599 Return

1550

Nice sale to Hong Kong from Qantas. $599 is the cheapest ever I believe, matching a promotion earlier this year around CNY.

Travel dates are: 25/04/16 - 20/06/16
Also a very reasonable $699 for travel dates: 13/07/16 - 31/07/16

Book by 24th August.

Prices might be good, but that time of the year is the worst time to travel to Hong Kong. The climate around that time of year is hot and humid. If you want to travel to Hong Kong for a holiday, avoid that time of the year.

Or save bucket loads in air fare costs and wear shorts and t shirt when over there?

Not sure why Santa was negged because he does have a valid point.
It rains alot as well during June and July, so bring a rain jacket if you're travelling during this time. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Climate_of_Hong_Kong
So it's a good price, but beware that you may not be able to get the best of outdoor activities such as the Peak or Disneyland because it might be washed out.
If you are going there to just shop, drink and eat, then by all means go ahead and lucky you :P

    • Yeah, if you go late April to early May it's bearable, sometimes it's not that humid, after that it's terrible! Hot and humid outside, freezing cold in shopping centres and buses. Just need to stay inside, which is possible as must shopping centres are linked to train system

  • It's CHEAP. maybe time to plan for the next trip…

Has anyone seen this kind of sale before? Does it happen more than once a year? Very tempting but can't plan my schedule one year in advance.

just saw one in Feb this year.

Really cheap. Came back from HK Apr this year and paid over 1100 return. Now planning the next trip! Checked out skyscanner.com and bestjet.com - they are selling the same fares for $563.50 inc all the fees for the cheaper dates. Maybe check them out before booking with qantas direct.

    • I believe it's only if you fly from Melbourne not Sydney to Hong Kong

Direct flight on skyscanner is $699 from Sydney to Hong Kong for the same dates on Qantas direct $599

You can only get $574 for flying Apr returning May not June. It really varies what you do to get the lowest fare. For me $599 an extra $25 works out better with the dates.

      So this deal is fantastic!

Btw $30 credit card fee and $10 eftpos I think that's crazy.

Changing title to Bpay will help!

  • I booked mine for Oct travel in Feb, awesome deal for the time of the year to travel..

  • PER-HND for 949 return in April (During Cherry Blossom season)

I will never fly Qantas again. Just came back from Hong Kong and had 3 flights cancelled in a row trying to get back to Sydney. The only way I could get back was to get on flight to Brisbane then get on another flight to Sydney.

  • Ended up getting six tickets to hong kong. I was going to get them a few days earlier and sky scanner, for the exact same flights, had them for $729. I got them for $599 instead.

  • Hi guys just an FYI. You need to go for flexible dates and its limited to certain for return tickets to be $599 for lowest fare

  • Thanks so much OP. Took the punt and booked a holiday for the family! Does anyone have any recommendations on accommodation in HK? We will be first timers, so any tips and info will help! Cheers

airBnB some guy got held in an airbNb accomodation as a sexual slave too.

    • i could go on forever about where to stay in Hong Kong. But in short, it's either the Kowloon or Hong Kong Island.
Kowloon - more local and authentic and more crowded. e.g. street markets, closer metro lines, more localised food.
Hong Kong Island - more westernised with shopping centres, more touristy, more English Colony architecture, but relatively less crowded.
