    No these are active glasses, powered unlike passive ones used in theatres.
    Also wondering whether this will work with same year Samsungs

  I just received the Samsung glasses. They only work with 2010 model TVs. In the bin they go.

  Or maybe I'll put them on ebay in 5 years time.
