Plenty of Australian Sparklings that are as good as or better than this for a fraction of the price…

    • but they are sparklings, not champagne :o Although I guess you are right and a lot of the price tag is for the name, you can only try to find out.
I also like Cremant type sparklings, haven't seen many nice ones recently.

      • but they are sparklings, not champagne :o

Because the French won't allow them to call it champagne, even though they are made exactly the same way, but we do it better

        • eh same way as you wouldn't want french marketing their lamb as australian i suppose.

you seem to think i'm taking sides, while i'm only putting things in boxes. Not all french sparkligs are champagne either.

I don't drink enough to drop names or say which is better I merely take an interest in the differences (yeah the fun part of booze you say ^^ )

          @juki:

TBH, I am happy to let the French to market their lamb as Illawarra, Port Macquarie, or whatever. Haha.

The only thing that makes champagne champagne, is they bottle it then let it sit in a chalk cave… as opposed to everywhere else in the world who bottle it, then let it sit in a huge fridge at the same temp and humidity as a chalk cave.

      • Cremant isn't a type, it's a regional thing like Champagne, Crémant d'Alsace. It's made exactly the same way as Champagne, it's just usually cheaper.

        • hmm i have had things called cremant from other places during some trips in europe i believe. I didn't intend on starting a riot, should i delete my post?! different makes, different people, different tastes

        • @juki:

Fair enough. Didn't mean to come across as aggressive, I'm actually wrong anyway (there's more than one Crémant region in France, but it technically should refer to wine made exactly the same way as in Champagne). You'd be hard pressed to find a Crémant wine in Australia that's not from France and isn't just a white bubbly, where you'd be better off getting something local.

        • @freefall101: yes I do believe in supporting local producers anyway. no worries, i didn't want to offend anyone either

    • Absolutely.
NV = nothing much. Mostly goes to the cost of adverting at the races.
Might as well put some cask dry white in the Sodastream.

    • Any bargains on Porphyry Pearl or Sparkling Rhinegold ?

    • Not being much of a champagne kind of guy… For example ?

Can also get this for same price direct on site using codes '20free' and 'ITSONUS', the bonus being a much higher cashback thru cashrewards (10% vs 2.5%, so $29.12 cashback vs $7.28 via ebay).

    • thanks mate, how do you use two codes?

      • +1

My bad english - you can only use one code, but either delivers the same price.

    • The Winemarket 20% says "no champagne". Not sure about the ebay equivalent?

      • 'ITSONUS' took 20% off Veuve when I put in in cart?

        • Stupid Winemarket. Oh well thanks for telling me. They clearly say no champagne in the deal. WTF haha
