    still sold out.

    • +1

Coburg Vic has plenty. Raincheck it.

    • I saw heaps at Carlingford Woolies tonight. Bought 2 tubs!

  • +4

I tried the ice cream, but wasn't impressed. It's too fluffy and airy for my liking. YMMV though, worth a try I guess!

    • +10

I'm the opposite. Eating this was like getting hit by a train carrying 60 tonnes of SEX

      • That surely would've left you feeling rather "blue"

      • 60 tonnes of Sex in your mouth doesn't sound particularly appetising.

    • I prefer the tub version as it isn't as sweet. The GG on a stick is too sickly sweet.

I do agree about it being airy. It's an old trick to selling less ice cream for more $$$. Ice cream should be sold by weight and not volume to avoid consumers getting cheated.

It's also makes the product less satisfying.

      • I prefer it 'airy'

  • +11

I found that the stick is still better than the tub, is it just me?

    • +3

      The sticks are much better.

      • +2

        the stick rules

    • +5

Dipping the stick in the tub is my fave

      • Mmm yeah in the context of Golden Gaytime these comments are starting to get a bit yeah whoah okay then….

    • agree. Look at the box, it says 'reduced fat icecream'. Pretty sneaky imo, who the hell has icecream this indulgent hoping it to be reduced fat? Ludicrous.

I'll stick to my full fat connisseur i think.

  • +2

Yer i managed to grab a tub when my store had some in, they sold fast though. Sadly, I don't think much of it, not quite as good as i hoped :(.

  • Still waiting for Woolies to stock it here. Too bad they've reduced their ice-cream range to like 2 fridges compared to the 10 or so at Coles.

    • 10 fridges of icecream??
Spread-out so all the fatties can get to it.

Love a bit of sometimes food, but thank god my local doesn't fill the fridges with that much. Catalogues FULL of crap food is bad enough.

Buying bad food on 1/2 price… they know we're trying to eat healthier, so bait us with heavy discounts??

      • Because the only thing "they" want you to do is eat as much as possible so that they can sell you more.

      • No baiting necessary, Colesworth are just giving the majority of customers what they want.

Chips and Coke outsell broccoli + brussel sprouts more than 100:1. Just the way it is.

  • Yeah had it the first week it was launched. Agreed it was pretty good. Paid $6.99. This is a good price.

  • Just discovered last night after scoffing a fair whack of ice-cream I'm very lactose intolerant :( So might have to give it a miss. Great deal though!

  • sif tub

  • +5

Prefer the stick. The balance between ice cream and biscuit bit in the tub is not as good as the stick.

    contains gelatine (beef) and gluten.

    • +6

      yummy

    • +3

      Really?? Yuck!

Is it really THAT hard to make ice cream (or yoghurt) without stuffing it with ground up bones?

Might taste good, but the company is saving a buck by cheating and artificially thickening the stuff.

      • what's wrong with bones?

        • I eat some bones. They're great.

        • calcium

        • Nothing's wrong with bones per se, as long as they don't make their way into products which can and should be made without them.

If the trend continues we might soon see "new, improved" butter made with gelatin.

        • +1

@derekrak: You're acting as though your own opinion is a set of rules that everyone has to follow. Sorry, you aren't that special.

      • artificial bones?

    • Sadly(?) horse gelatine seems to have been retired these days.

  • Really enjoyed the original tub. Going to try the mint next which I don't think I've had previously in the stick form.

    • I had the mint (the only flavour in stock at my local Woolies) and I was VERY disappointed! I am a lover of mint so was excited to try it… to say I won't even look twice at getting it again is saying something… I wish the tub form was just as good as the stick… very disappointed!!

      • Thats a shame…had high expectations for that one. Might still give it a go…chocolate doesn't interest me so much but I guess I should go try the stick version too.

      • Got some and while I don't mind it, it's got nothing on the original flavour tub we got before that. Wasn't particularly minty at all.

        • Yeah I won't be buying it every again. Nothing like the mint flavour that I like!

    • i got it because it was the only thing left in the freezer after my 3rd attempt to get the original. didnt rate it as anything special.

  • +1

Still haven't managed to actually find this in stores.

"Hi, I'm looking for a gaytime"

      • OR… "Hi, I'm looking for gaytimes" - They might not get any if they were just after one gaytime…

    • Ditto.

I tried TH in Sydney, as well as Caringbah and Menai. No spot on the shelves for it to start off with.

  • The woollies at Bondi Westfield had a few there when I checked over the weekend.

  • I love it. On my second tub now

  • Does anyone know if that price is in-store or is it just online? Love Golden Gaytime but was really put off with the 6.99 price tag :(

    • +1

Both. It's in the latest catalogue.

  • -1

I'd be on this deal if it wasn't for my hetro pride.

  • We tried several Woolworths stores around our area and none had any stock for 2 weeks of launch. Ended up getting from Coles for a couple of $ more.

  • +2

tub is disappointing ~ get the sticks!

  • +3

We need an OzBargain exclusive deal on these.
The fun TA could have with the coupon code.

  • +1

Anyone wanna group buy so we can have one big golden gay time? ;)

  • +1

need to find local store that has it… still tryign to track these down =(

    • +1

Go to any store, and get a raincheck.

      • +2

I tried this at Sydney Town Hall store.
Store manager said cant do rainchecks as they dont stock this item.
        Only selected stores stock them.
Not sure if true raincheck policy or just trying to fob me off, but I didnt bother arguing with him.

  • wish uber would do ice cream runs for this, rather than messina

    • I should really neg you for that comment

  • Went to a woollies last week when it was on discount. Could not find any. Must have sold out or the store don't stock any

  • hey guys, i bought this and ate it last week.

Be aware, biscuit in there is soggy and not crunchy.

  • Golden Gaytimes are one of my fave icecreams, but I've tried the choc and mint on sticks and they are not much chop imho.

The tub of mint Golden Gaytime I've had was sensational and do recommend!

  • +1

Just got the Chocolate variety (they had no other flavour).
Wow… Bland-o-rama! Woolies 1 litre Select brand tubs have a better taste.

    Total fail.

  • +1

I really hope the makers of that ice cream are reading this, because 90% of the comments here say it's nothing special.

    More like Golden Failtime.

    • Some say they love it too. Let the sales do the talking

  • +1

Stick with the original on the stick. The new mint and chocolate ones are just horrid. 👎 The cookie crumble just doesn't work just doesn't taste right.

  • +1

Bring back the Polly Waffle as an ice cream. Now there's an idea.

  • -2

Two things, firstly this is how to make icecream

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0dEhwxI69jI

and Gaytimes should be available in rainbow !

    • +1

      Cool, +1

  • I havent tried chocolate tub gaytime yet but the mint has no taste at all. No wonder the fridge is full of them.

  • Disappointed with the chocolate sticks, but then again, it's the caramel center that I like most. Maybe they should leave that and ditch the vanilla part in exchange for the chocolate? To be honest though I really doubt that anything could surpass the original ….

  • I would only maybe try strawberry apart from the original (obviously).

I can't see mint or chocolate working, to be honest.

  • Thanks, just picked up 2 tubs at my local (Reedy Creek, Gold Coast).
They were in a low chiller with the boxed up icecreams, rather than in the tall chillers with the bigger containers. Not many left tho. Had both Chocolate, and Mint Gaytimes tubs.

  • Nice icecream. Lasted one day in my household.

Was on holidays earlier this week and shopped at IGA Tugan Q and they had these http://www.peters.com.au/brands/drumstick/# at 50% off $3.99.
I could not confirm that sale items are still on by checking on line. Also here in Qld sale change over day is Wednesday. Mini Cookies and cream was good from a non iceream eater.

May be worth a visit or a taste. Looking for Dame E. next time.

  • not online anymore? only showing the ice cream for me lol

EDIT: actually its interesting, its after you log in because if you wanted to click and collect then you need to log into your online account. I checked and logged out and its showing the ice cream hahaah wtf

anyone else experiencing this or is it just me? I wanted to buy online so i could pick it up at the store because its always damm sold! damm this is hot and popular lol

  • I really hate paddlepop sticks. If I accidently touch it with my fingers teeth or tonguei feel disgusted by it. So I'm glad they have tubs

    • Say Arrh not yum.

  • Had it last week. Not as good as the stick. Not enough biscuit bit in it.
Its lie the splice ice cream. Not the same without the ice block part.
    Wont buy either again

  • I used to work at Woolies. I never had a gay-time there, but I think a couple of other people did.
