  • What makes this better than a $60 fan? They both move air, right?

    • If that's a discounted price, I'd hate to know what the RRP on it is…

      • AUD 469.00

        • Haha, yeah, i was just editing my post as you posted it. Next time I'll take a proper look.

There's quite a lot of difference between ceiling fans including air moving efficiency, noise both from the moving air and the motor, the overall cosmetic design plus if they're remote controlled or not and all this can greatly affect the price. Ironically though, I purchased a couple of these HunterPacifics when they were first released 15+ years ago as they were the first ceiling fan available that didn't look like it came from the 1950s. They cost a bomb back then but they had the sleeker look I was after and as they cost so much I bought some cheapie replacements so I could take the good ones to our next house… however at the next house the motors started producing the 1050hz Energex power signals and they kept us awake at night! I complained to HunterPacific but of course it wasn't their problem so I complained to Energex who helped out by fitting a notch filter to our power feed. It helped but we could still hear the noise however purposely replacing the one in the master bedroom with a $50 cheapie resulted in a far less efficient fan BUT it was 100% silent. You sometimes just don't know until you try.

If it had a inbuilt light in the middle then it's a good deal, but the 6 speed is awesome!

  • seems expensive just for a fan. The remote is nice but a light would be good.

    • A decent DC fan will cost a fair bit more than a standard AC… but I don't know if this is a DC or not. And if it isn't, I can't see it being worth the price.
