my first 'deal'. I am not familiar with the gauge nor the product line but worth a mention.

  • Apparently also comes with the extension rod which you can swap out for the rubber \ flexi hose. 0-180psi, the thumb release button for deflation and best of all has NITTO fitting!

SCA is Supercheap Auto's in house brand

      You mean Blackridge?

      • You mean Blackridge?

which after a quick google… also seems to be an in house brand? i couldnt find anyone else selling it. which these companies do to try and make the brand seem more legit when it is in fact just another home brand

No - separate, I believe. Exclusive distribution in Australia, maybe (I have no idea), but not a 'house brand' as such.

A few months after I noticed the brand selling at SCA, I posed a question to a likely / knowledgeable lass and she said that Supercheap had started selling the gear because so much of the 'Scorpion'-branded stuff was giving grief with reliability issues.

Better and determined quality control in-factory in relation to the Blackridge generators was mentioned and also specific mention that company HQ in Australia were handling any warranty claims that did arise, promptly, and well.

This would be about 4 years ago, I reckon, so all of the above may have changed!

Fun game actually, looking up a bunch of names and seeing who owns them.

  • Nice pickup, thanks

  • Had one but returned it same day. Leaked heavily at the connection to the hose. The O-ring splits if you try to tighten it. Poor design.

    • I had one for a while (looks identical but can't recall 'brand') the tip on the flexi hose broke off, then the hose started to leak at the threaded end. The final straw came when the cheap alloy split at the inlet fitting making it lose air presssure. I went to bunnies and bought a kit of bits on special for $20 that hasn't missed a beat since

  • 0-180psi? maybe for scooters…

  • Had one for a few years… works well.

  • Been wanting one for a while now but the prices were too high to justify.

    Thanks :)

  • I bought one last night and will do a review for the thread later on, when i pick it up.

  • well took it home, unwrapped and plugged it in. works fine.
Nice positive action on the trigger and good strong spring. The hose is thick but flexible enough to reach those pesky motorcycle valves. I noticed the o-ring where the stalk screws in and could understand where it may leak but mine didnt.
However I wrapped the thread with a couple of layers of plumbers tape and that should take care of that. I dont think I'll experience a leak there. The relief button works well. Again positive action and good return rate.

Holds pressure well as I dunked the whole thing in a bucket of water and observed no bubbles. Played with the trigger underwater so it seals very well.

Gauge is accurate with 35psi and within ONE psi at 100psi.

All in all, happy with the gauge for the price. Scores.

    • Just bought one. Connected directly to compressor at 90psi this shows 60psi (off by 30psi), and similarly at 110psi it shows 70psi.

Went to servo and set tyre pressure to 34psi using their digital air: this read lower by about 1.5psi.

I seriously doubt the linearity of the gauge on this - can't trust the reading. Typical Chinese quality control.

Other than the dodgy gauge, the rest seems pretty good, as per previous comment.

Should I bother exchanging for another one and hope its gauge is correct?

      • Sounds like the needle reaches its max at about 70psi. I experienced pretty accurate readings up to 100psi. I compared it to two digital gauges and my $80 analog one. Servo's I don't trust at the best of times.
Even though you'll spend 90% of your time in the 35-40psi range, I would return it.
