      oh the snobbery…

      • +6

lol. let me know how many you buy ;)

      • snobbery combined with a good price = having good taste!

    • +7

I thought the Gage Roads Atomic Pale Ale was pretty good actually, as well as the Hop Thief.

      • +6

And Samuel Adams the month before. That sold like hotcakes!

        • +1

Samuel Adams is too sweet for me, because it US beer?
I prefer the Jamie Squire series

          Ughhh gross..

      • Yes to hop thief and samuel adams, they were both decent enough for the $10/6pack price, but the gage roads pale ale is worse than it use to be when first released..they were not an enjoyable drop

        • +1

Yes, I've heard that it's blander than it was before - and I admit the aftertaste is a little bitter - but I found it a good session beer whereas a beer that's more flavoursome - say Feral Hop Hog (obviously a nicer beer) - is a bit much after 2 or 3. I guess it depends what you're after in a beer. Maybe it's to my own benefit that I don't know how much better it was before they changed the recipe?

          thats blasphemy right there ;)

      • The Sam Adams and Hop Thief were so popular they sold out before I figured out I should start using click & collect :P Atomic was absolutely fantastic, my now go-to beer :)

    • Not a fan of the fruity seasonal ale. Otherwise they do a good drop

  • +3

Bummer it doesn't include the dark ale. Still these are a good beers.

  • Great beer. Very happy.

  • +9

Kind of lame they are combining beer with food. I hope that isn't a trend that continues.

    • +4

Agreed. Hope this isnt the point where they start adding general groceries to the deals - maybe cheap wine, berocca and panadol will be an upcoming combo

      • +2

Cheap wine already comes with a free goon pillow. Some people are never satisfied.

      • +7

Another good combo - tequila, burrito kit and toilet paper

  • Great beers. Thanks OP :)

  • I went to this brewery on holidays earlier this year - the beer is good. I'll bet that this stuff goes quickly.

  • +1

These deals are the best since the Hop Thief a few months back. That was caned substantially to maximise the 3 cartons a day.

3 Southern Pales and 3 Standard Pales ordered and will be ready for collection in 2 hours.

    Thanks Uncle Dan!

  • I've created an account but when I add to cart it's the full price. How do I get a 6-pack for $10?

  • +2

    which one taste better?

    • +2

Pale ale. "Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, my opinion, man." :)

  • Which is "hoppier"?

  • Dan's in Kirwan informed us they had Gage Roads Narrow Neck Session Ale for $10 a 6-pack, doesn't seem to be on their website though.

    • +1

"Session ale" is basically the new light beer

  • I got the email but they didn't have the Pointers pale at my dan murphys.

  • I tried Monteiths Southern while in NZ…not too bad….not too good either but rather OK. Good Price though.

  • Thanks grabbed a six pack of both the Monteith's and a bottle each of the Krondorf and Kilikanoon shirazes ($20 for the pair).

  • I can't wait for the return of the Summer Ale.

Possibly my favourite easy-drinking beer in the world.

    • That's the reddish-labelled one with the rata honey in it, right? It really is too easy to drink…

      • Yeah! The honey is very subtle, an amazing brew.

  • Free delivery?

  • Reviews aren't too good for the Southern Pale Ale?? Anyone tried either of the Monteith's and care to comment?

    • The Southern PA is quite bitter. I've just tried both and I prefer the Pointers PA. I'll be buying a slab or two now.

    • +1

For me the Southern Pale Ale doesn't taste like a pale ale. Quite boring and bitter. I will not be buying another 6 pack. Hopefully the other pale ale is better (my DM's didn't have it in stock).

      • have to second your assessment here. Really has some strange off-notes and generally a weird, unsatisfying drinking experience. Also found the Pointers Pale Ale out of stock :(.

  • +1

I bought the Pointers Ale, not alot of flavour but still a nice drop and will be great for the warmer weather. 5% off wish gift cards and extra cashback for Dan Murphy's with click and collect is really great and convenient too.

  • +1

Golden ale is $1 now too

    • Yeah, saw that. Worth jumping on if you can.

    • My tastebuds like the Golden Lager. Good value at $1.66 per bottle.

  • +1

I regret my enthusiasm for this beer. Never had a bad experience with Montheith's until I tried these two. The pointer's ale is bland and inoffensive but has nothing about it at all. The Southern ale is just weird.. tastes like they mixed a batch of the pointer's ale up with a radler or something. Won't buy either again.

The moral of this: never listen to a word I say (Mrs Chickentaste has been banging that drum for over a decade now).

  • Let's hope next months MyDanMurphy's offers has some Oktoberfest-worthy beers!
