It brings the BLACKVUE DR650GW-2CH down to $467.10. Cheapest I've seen so far.
I want to get a Blackvue, but not sure how to hook it up to battery power? Anyone recommend a mechanic in Sydney's East?
I've got a Blackvue, and it powers straight from the cigarette socket, no mechanic needed. I imagine it's the same for all consumer dashcams.
If you want constant power however, you'll have to get a Powermagic or Vico module to manage your car battery for you - requires some knowledge on car fuses/wiring.
Have been using a couple of basic GW1-C DashCams for a few months (one for front + another for rear) but recently researched the Lukas range of cameras with their OBDII data masking capabilities and already want to upgrade to one of those instead :) Capturing front & rear footage is great but capturing that as well as all the supplemental data of indicators, lights, horn, revs, braking status etc. makes it a proper 'black box' and all for under $500 (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/121579057203?_trksid=p2060353.m14…). Not many reviews on them though so does anyone know if this Korean made stuff is any good?
might want to look into compatibility of vehicles first. not all cars feed all this data through obd2 port.
Ah, really? I didn't know that. I assumed ODB ports were universal. Bugger.
@madmouse58 is right. OBD2 protocol is standard but the information carried inside the protocol is manufacturer dependent.
IT will also further confuses the situation if for example there is a certain delay in reading the speedometer and during that time an accident occur still with the old reading. The same with gps unit too.
I have bought off them in the past and their delivery was very quick and their service was great.
