Cebu Pacific - Return Flights Sydney to Manila $359.95 AUD 1/10/15 to 29/02/16

470

Cebu Pacific is having a sale again. Not as good as some past off season deals but this deal covers quite a large part of peak season and is still reasonable, particularly when you consider the low dollar.

I have flown with them before on this leg a few times and I think that they are one of the better budget airlines.

Prices I found from 15/11 to 06/12
$199.00 AUD - SYD to MNL
$160.95 AUD - MNL to SYD

Plane is usually an Airbus A330 with 9 seats per row (all economy). always has lots of friendly staff. Return flight is a red eye.

This deal is flight only and expect optional extras such as meals and baggage fees to be selected by default through the booking process (but all can be removed).

Flight lands in T3 in Manila. Its a new and modern terminal with better facilities than the Qantas terminal, though it can be a wait for a cab.

There is no discount for pre-booking your meal and while it is cheaper than anything at Syd airport, you may find better options on the onboard menu.

Ticket includes up to 7kg carry on baggage. Expect to have your carry-on weighed if you are not checking in any bags. Baggage costs have increased a fair bit in the past year and expect to pay ~$35-$50 depending on size.

Costs are billed in AUD and there are no credit card surcharges (MC or Visa only)

    Never try this flight company.

I saw the news that the flight staff were trying to steal their passengers money during the flight…
And they were caught by passengers, so they just flush all the money they steal to the toilet…

Flown with them several times, no issues what so ever.

Flown with them many times only 2 wallets 1 laptop 1 cellphone 1 camera gone missing but all good.

      • How's that good?

    • +1

flown with them about 10 times never had a drama other then running late once.

Actually like all these airlines make sure you pay the $10 extra or whatever to get the right baggage weight as they charge around $30 a KG over

Good deal, but be aware the individual seats are like sardines, unless you get a flight that is not at capacity, any guy 5 foot 10 guy or taller should pay for extra legroom.

  • Basically no flights out of sydney between late nov through to mid jan… damn

How safe is it to travel to the Philippines?

    • +1

If you're asking here, then for you, I'd say its unsafe.

      • Huh? What's wrong with asking here?

    • +4

Safe as anywhere with a modicum of commonsense. The only places that you should categorically not go are the Muslim autonomous areas in Mindanao, where you are at some risk of being kidnapped by Abu Sayyef. They are pretty okay with captives though compared to your normal Muslim rebel group.

      • I hope thats 5k PHP! crazy!

        • No au 5k but that's me. I'm a blackbelt in kungfu so they will need a knife or gun but that's possible there lol.

        • @paulaus: your kung fu would be useless with a snatch. It would be foolish to chase them in the back streets

        • @pao2x: Walking down main st in cebu well lit 10.30 at night a kid about 12 ran around in front of me and my gf.Grabbed her necklace put it in his mouth and took off, chased him about 200 metres up the middle of the street but little shit was too fast for me. Thing is i shouted to security guards outside shops to stop him but no one cares, they just laugh at the silly foreigner running up the road.

      • The problem is that yes, you may travel to the Manila and nothing will happen to you on your trip. I've been there around ten times and have been in a few hairy situations where I didn't know how it would go, but nothing ended up happening. The reality is that that's not always the case and I know of people who have had to jump from taxis, who have been stabbed and killed in a jeepney, etc. Unfortunately life is cheap in Manila, and things can turn bad quickly.

    • I carry always about 5k cash in moneybelt under shorts I walk around at midnight around cebu and never had any dramas in 10 trips each year. But I don't drink and visit bars which I think leads to many problems. Think I'm going to cut back in trips AU's dollar is stuffed just got 31 pesos and 3 years ago was get around 45 big difference.

      • Sorry, I can see no reason for carrying 5K in cash in any country.

Of course, it is none of my business… but why carry so much cash?

        • I don't use banks very often I'm a cash man.And the dollar is low enough without extra charges for credit card fees.

Personally I do not feel safe around Metro Manila. Several beggars who are very desperate and whilst I have never had an incident, it can be daunting and these days, I avoid the area entirely.

That said, there are many places that are a relatively short distance from manila that are beautiful and safe. An hour by car, bus or plane in almost any direction and you feel like you are in a different country.

I did feel a little paranoid in some areas of Manila, but a little common sense and confidence go a long way. I've never been mugged or assaulted in my life, and I think it has a lot to do with self-confidence, attitude, and street smarts.

That said, the real beauty of the Philippines lays outside of Manila.

Philippines is safe country but like in Australia don't go walking down some dark alley at night. Don't flash your cash in public, watch out for snatchers and dont wear expensive items. You should be fine I only been pickpocket once when was in cebu lucky I caught them ( bloody street kids). Hint when you arrived dont use the yellow ( airport taxi) they are rip off you want the white ones :)

      Enjoy!

      • Not really like Australia. Don't have to worry about pulling out an iPhone and getting mugged anywhere I know.

In peak hour get a yellow taxi, can wait forever for a white one or spend $2 more and get a yellow one (which all the locals avoid).

        • Thats why i avoid manila at all cost. Cebu no problems with getting a white taxi.

        • Taxis in Manila are a joke. Between running the risk of getting mugged, taken the wrong way, "walang barya" (no change), and just generally being in various states of functionality, I hate riding in them.
