Why Neg ??? I said its good deal but i am looking for something else ? so y neg on this ?

        • +4

I didn't neg, but I suspect people don't care for comments about why you aren't going to buy this drive.

If everyone that looked at this deal but didn't buy the drive made the same comment. Our comments section would be full of comments which don't add any value to the discussion.

It's a bit like the annoying comments on torrent site like "I'm waiting for yify"

    • You can also use this FORYOU30 code for the 2.5" Seagate Backup Plus 2TB external drive. Regular price of $149, so now down to $119. No 2.5" 4TB capacity though as I haven't seen one available on the market yet.

  • Thanks, got one as pick up from in store. Been looking out for 4TB deals for my NAS.

Apparently inside is a Seagate HDD.15 ST4000DM000 (5900RPM) according to newegg.

    • +1

Certainly was the case, varied between the ST4000DM000 and ST4000DM001 both good NAS drives, but the ST4000DM000 has a higher operating temperature otherwise similar specs. So the ST4000DM000 is generally preferred in a NAS.
Old case could be opened with a plastic card, without screws or damage.

When you know what drive is in this new case can you let us know, so I can check out in future. Don't need any more now.

PS: ST4000DM000 is a good NAS drive as it has the vibration protection and high operating temperature.

      • I'll post here when I find out, hoping I can pick it up tomorrow.

  • Would this drive be quick enough for HD movie playback?

    • +1

You mean a 1080p mkv? If so yes.

      • Yup that's it.

        • Some videos come with a .nfo file. check the bitrate for the audio and video and add that up.
usually the total bitrate is not even a significant fraction of the capabilities of modern drives.

Your only concern would be plugging this usb 3 drive into a usb2 port, which would severely reduce your speed. However it'll probably still be sufficient

  • that's a great price, a few weeks ago i found the same hdd at OW for $189 in my area, it was the last one. Haven't yet cracked it open.

  • sold out
