  • How many years can you order with this coupon?

    • +3

To answer my own question, coupon appears to work with Triennial packages.

  • I agree, I'm the same, these guys are good

    • They also bought out 9web that has been very popular here.

  • Would these guys be better than NetVirtue?

  • +1

I've been using them for a few years, they're great! Admittedly I've never payed full price :P too bad I can't get 75% off renewals, I'd add an extra few years on!

    • Even renewals, never paid full price?

What do you go for Business account or WHM Multi web hosting?

      • Honestly I just use the web space for me and my friends/University stuff so I just get a new hosting service each time it runs out. Just the economy plus plan usually, I think it works out to be $25ish a year, it's enough for my personal stuff ☺

        • Cool, thanks.

      • Even renewals, never paid full price?

How did you manage to do that ?

  • Ah, these are the guys I'm with now, from when 9web sold me to them. They work alright I guess.

    • Same for me. No issues with VentraIP, not sure if they are going to honour the commitment of 9Web though which was the $1/month hosting for the lifetime of my account. It will be interesting to see what happens when my triennial subscription is up for renewal.

      • Fingers crossed hey!

        • Had a look at my account, the renewal amount is $5/month, and will be under the "Economy Saver" plan*.

So we will be paying the standard prices from Ventral-IP, when our period runs out.

        • @edfrane: Pretty good for $1.24/month how long did you pay in advance for?

  • I manage a few websites for friends and family. At the moment I ve them all hosted on a single 'Business' account with one Cpanel account to rule them all. I was thinking of switching them to a WHM Multi web hosting account. So each website has it's own Cpanel account.

    What do you guys reckon.

    • Mate
I have a business account with them as well, Currently 2 years up and coming up for renewal in 9 months.

Is there anyway to get a good deal for renewal or are we screwed to paying full price for renewal ?

      • Screwed, they suck us in with sweet candy, then when renewal comes round - paying full price for renewal.

I think you'd have to create a new account get 75% off and transfer all your data across. You have 9 months to go, juts keep an eye out they'll have another offer by then. Even on their website they have 50% off first invoice all the time.

      • If it were me, I'd do the following:

Depending on how much you paid for the 2 years.. If the total sum invested including signing up for a new service is less than the cost of the 9 months per unit month, I'd probably pull the trigger and re-initiate a new service, and move the data/hosting all over to the new service, and leave the 9 month service dormant, or wait till it expires and then do the move.

        Algebraically, it goes like this:

Where x is the pro-rata'd "value" of the remaining 9 months,

        ((0.25 * 3 years cost for the new service) + x ) / 36 months = y

If y is significantly less than the cost of the per-month you had paid for the 9 months, then through speculation, I would do it as over 36 months, you amortize the loss which works out to be about 0.25 months loss of subscription time per month.

If y is greater than the cost of the per-month you had paid for the 9 months, then I would continue with the existing service because you did not gain at all from performing the above.

You are gambling on the fact that they won't have any specials in 9 months when you need to renew.

You should also not take financial advise from strangers on the interwebs.

        • So, let's use a working example:

          Business cPanel @ $598.80 bi-annually
Assume you applied 50% discount that seems to be widely available without much need for dealhunting.

          ((0.25 * 898.20) + ((299.40 / 24) * 9)) / 36 = ~$9.35

          So

Cost per month to continue your existing plan = 12.475
Cost per month to continue your existing plan + 2 years 3 months on top = $9.35

Is ~$3/month (or ~$112.50 over 3 years) worth the effort to migrate data over? Your call.

  • Just took them up on their 'Business lite' deal and indeed, the price came to 75% off the marked price. So far, I'm happy.
Funny story - I wanted to take up this offer but I was putting off contacting my current host because she's served me well over the last few years and she's the friend of a friend. When I did, she was pleased and she was wondering how she was going to tellme she was getting out of the hosting game. She thought VentraIP were a good choice.

    • Good work there. Love the funny story too! :)

75% off is hard to pass up.
