Not in reality…In their dreams, of maybe 1mm in front using an external power source. For instance a 7W brand name quality GU10 (so connects direct to 240V) LED lamp as you may put in your house has an output of 450lumens. maybe they meant milli-lumens…..
To be fair, when you get a good one they are actually pretty good (for the money). The trick with these lights is that every 4th or 5th you buy will be a dud. I've got a few lying around (in car gloveboxes for example) that still work as well as when I bought them over the years, and they are good stocking stuffers/gateway lights.
Regarding the brightness, they are likely around 100 lumens on an AA and probably about 150 on a 14500.
1000+ lumens isn't out of the question on something this size from a single 3.7v cell, but you certainly have to pay to play
