Sony Floor Standing MUTEKI MHCV3 $307 @ Dick Smith

20

Anyone got this speaker at home? Any good? I've heard Costco has this speaker with $80 discount, but I don't know how much they sell it for there.

We have one of these at work (long story), it is ok for what it proclaims to be (party box - blaster). Given it is only a single tower speaker it has to be on a relatively loud setting to have a far reach. I'd suggest the market appeal for this kind of device is limited. The main problem we have with it at work is that if the item needs to be used in different locations (as it is a party / gathering sound system) it has to be lugged around. I strapped ours to a sack truck from super cheap to aide mobility of the unit - someone knocked off the sack truck leaving this…not sure what that tells you.

    • That it was too freaking heavy for his quick & stealthy getaway.

    • Hi Jason101. Ok thanks for your reply. lol yeah it must have been to heavy for him/her to run away with… Or maybe they needed the sack for some other more valuable purposes… hihi

why do people keep posting these? is it the 90s?

    • +5

Why do people keep posting in threads they have no interest in?

      • Hey Phreakuency. In my post I wrote "Anyone got this speaker at home? Any good?" I was actually curious about how good this speaker is.. If there were many comments from people that it's good, then I would have bought it.. Therefore I was actually interested in it….

      • I actually an interested.
the styling on the muteki speakers is very 90s.
reminds me of the days of the mini component systems from AIWA, SONY, TEAC, etc that looked very "aggresive" these days, sounds systems are more minimalistic in their design.

Is as if they're trying to make them sound louder by their looks..
        thats my point.

        or like eneloop says below..
fully sick putting nitro and K&M stickers on a camry.

    • Hmmm…. "the 90s". What do you mean? You must be very wealthy if you had a speaker which supported Bluetooth and NFC at that time…

  • Is this fully sik or not really

Hi eneloop. This post it "not really" related to Eneloop batteries nor any Eneloop products..

      • Thanks for that info

I bought this 4 weeks ago from dick for $276 (cheapest price I've seen). We have a fairly big house n this thing sits in the middle. It is loud n bassy. The sound spreads quite well throughout the house. Please ignore all the doubters. For the price it is as loud as it can get!

Oh also I think Costco has the next version of this speaker V5. I had seen it a couple a weeks ago.

Hi arnomic. Thanks for ya positive comments. Anyway, the deal for $307 from DSE has expired. However, wow you managed to got it for "only" $276 earlier. That's nice.. :) I might get one if DSE ever has it for that price again.
Talking about Costco, I was there a little earlier. It was not this model they had on sale. It was the V7 model. $599 I think it cost. Nah, not much for me. However, I scored myself something else from Costco. iPad Air 2 128gb Gold for $799. You can't find anywhere selling cheaper than that at this moment… :)
