Free Dungeon Defenders 2 Steam Key (Save USD$15) via Alienware Arena

1230

About 7,800 keys left when I last checked.

Simply create an Alienware account and click the "Get" button to receive your free Steam key to the Dungeon Defenders 2 Closed Alpha. You'll be in a queue for about 60 minutes in which case they will email you your key.

Game is currently $15 on Steam and will go free-to-play after releasing fully sometime in the future.

Closed Alpha. So you don't get it forever and game likely is incomplete and or buggy.

It is in Steam Early access, but most of the game is there and I haven't found any bugs in my 25 hours of gameplay. As it will eventually go F2P, you're just getting in a bit earlier. Dungeon Defenders 1 was a pretty solid game and this is too.

      • Beat me by 43 seconds :D

      • if we get it now, it might be a beta game in our account forever…

I can't delete DOTA 2 test from my account

          Just hide the game…

Simply open your Steam library, then right-click on the game you want to hide and select Set Categories. In the pop-up menu that appears, check the box next to "Hide this game in my library," then click OK. Boom! That's it. The game is now banished from your Steam Library.

I have done this with so many games, really clears up your library from all the crap acquired through humble bundles and other irresistible gaming bargains.

        • @lordezekiel:

Yeap, I got a lot of free games on ozbargain that is not all that great.

          how would u unhide it?

    • Isn't it going to be free to play at full release anyway? Pretty sure it's written in the early access Q&A.

    • Anyone know how to get rid of beta of games?

So… What's the point? If this game is going free to play. Does anyone know if your progress on alpha gets carried on to the full game?

Because this Closed Alpha which Alienware is giving away is the same as the current Starter Pack release which is currently $14.99 on Steam. It will include some stuff (you could say straight out of the box) that the free to play release won't have. Besides you can play this now instead of waiting possibly months for the final release to come out (no current set release date except estimated in 2015 some time).

      Starter Pack (New $14.99 Version):
Access to Alpha (and all of the delicious Alpha ants!)
      2000 Gems
      Four Steam-exclusive Hero Accessories

      • Thanks for that. At least you get some stuff.

      • For what it's worth, when I entered my key it specifically said "Dungeon Defenders 2 - Free Edition" not starter pack or anything else. It's entirely possible this code simply removes the access paywall but without any of the perks of the starter pack (the gems, exclusive heroes etc). Perhaps someone else can confirm this, otherwise once my download is done I can let you know for sure!

        • Yeah unfortunately it must be just the base game seems it doesn't include the extras from the starter pack after all.

Early Access is a business model, whereby you pay a fee to access the game which funds continued development of said game. In the case of a "free to play" game, you are usually compensated with loot that costs real world money to buy. Free-to-play and Free games are two different things. A free game is usually funded by barraging you with advertising. A Free-to-play game is supported by micro-transactions. In this case you get micro-transaction items in the bundle, hence the "deal". Any real money transaction items are usually returned to your account or credits given to thier value in in-game currency in the case of a server reset, there is a high chance of the game being reset at some point, although this may not happen at all. It is a take it or leave it situation, with full-disclosure, so whether you take up the offer or not, the keys will be taken, and if you don't want to play the game, then please leave them for the people who do, and appreciate the opportunity.

Can't confirm, but if they are charging for it now and it eventually becomes free….. early adapters might be getting some perks or extra's that F2P players will not get!?! might be worth the effort no?

    • +2

Wasn't much effort for me. One press of the Get Key button and a Steam key was supplied through email a few minutes later.

title should read dungeon defenders 2 alpha free.

    • Why? If you have the alpha you get the release free aswell.

      Maybe it should read:

'Dungeon defenders 2 free alpha access and full release access which is free anyway but you get the game now with bonus stuff that the free release version doesn't'

Also thanks OP. Wanted to try this game with a few mates so cheers! Can't beat free.

      • currently its free alpha. you might get the free game down the track.

  • Thanks for this

  • Thanks OP!
