    TA's always on the ball!

    (or behind the balls)

    • +3

Depends on which angle you are looking from.

  • My bad, only android it is.

    • +1

Nope. Works with iPhones. Checked mine :)

      • What can you do with it with your iPhone? Does it show you messages? Can you make a call? Does it work with healthkit?
        thx

        • Works with google now and google voice searches. Shows all your notifications. You can't make calls. It doesn't sync with healthkit.

  • +2

I get the feeling LG has a warehouse full of these 1st gen things and really wants them gone.

    • +1

Yeah. They are surprisingly good considering they are first generation though.

  • +5

    If only I didn't have pebble :/

    • +3

at least our watch lasts 1 week in a full charge.
      food for thought :)

  • +1

    just ugly..

  • +1

I want a smart watch but I can't decide which to get Asus Zenwatch or Sony Smartwatch 3

    • +1

I have a smartwatch 3. The Zenwatch is a fair bit cheaper and in my opinion classier. You're going to be stuck with the rubber band on the Smartwatch 3 unless you're willing to fork out an extra $140-150 on top of the Smartwatch for a metal band or $70 for an adapter that works with aftermarket bands. If you're not going to be using it for running then I'd go with the Zenwatch.

      • +2

hey Tony your post hear makes sense now you have some time on your hands

      • Hey Tony… where did you see the cheaper Zenwatch?

        • +2

The cheapest I saw it on Android-enjoyed just Google it you will see good seller though never had problems with it. I think last night zenwatch was around 173$ free shipping or you can even pay for shipping to get it early. They usually take 3 to 5 days to process the order according to my previous experience with the seller. Hope it helps you.

        • +1

@YousufEDGE: I tried to buy a phone from Android Enjoyed once and they asked me to email them a copy of my driver's license and credit card. I'm not comfortable sending those to companies offshore. I'll have a look around. With Zenwatch 2 out, I guess the price of the original will drop even more.

        • +1

@ranagade: that is weird they never asked me to send them anything but you did the right thing.

  • Just bought one of these from mobicity yesterday evening for $115 !!!

  • +1

Can you make and receive calls with this

    • +1

      nope

      • Wow! I can't believe it doesn't allow calls. I was about to buy one until reading this here. Main thing I want it for is as for handsfree calls and checking incoming sms/notifications. Thanks for taking the time to post. I've checked the manual and LG Web site and it doesn't allow calls and does not have a speaker.

        • +1

i believe even the most expensive and latest smartwatch (and IF they can take calls) will not have good voice quality. the technology is still pretty new

        • Android wear watches doesn't come with built in speakers, for now at least

        • @erwinsie: have used two Chinese smart watches, both sub $100, both had call capability (hadn't realised until today that any other than pebble/fit lacked that). The call quality was excellent and much clearer at both ends than using LG mobile phone handset. Unfortunately I killed one with water and the other was brilliant for a month but now suffers so many drop outs it's not worth using. It's such a shame as the call capability was fantastic.

        • @phantom: oh.. ok then my suggestion would be hunting for second hand galaxy gear 1 or 2 (not 2 neo). spend extra but this is samsung and splash resistants.
basically, find one with Tizen operating system not android wear.

    • -4

      why would you want to?

      • +8

One scenario - your phone is in the living room, you're busy making dinner with your hands all messy, and a call comes in that you have to answer. You'd be able to just hit answer and talk through your watch.

        • +3

Bluetooth headset? Shoe phone? Call them back?

        • I haven't seen anyone cooking wearing a watch.

        • +1

@ms: I've found that's one of the most useful features of a smart watch, ability to receive or place calls while cooking, working in the garden etc.

        • +2

          @phantom:

This watch doesn't allow making calls as has been mentioned above. Anyway, each to their own. My mobile phone use is mostly for browsing, checking mails etc. I receive a call once in a few weeks…

        • @Consumer Sheep: Walking around the house wearing a Bluetooth headset all the time would be silly. At least it's not in public, I suppose! :)

Calling them back is one option, but some calls need to be answered. Maybe it's your kid calling as you're preparing dinner, or the food delivery guy who can't find your house.

To remove confirmation bias, for a whole week, when your phone rings, have a look at it and don't answer because you can call them back later. It probably won't make sense to do so a lot of the time. :)

        • +4

@ms: Maybe you haven't watched a lot of people cook? :)

I only take my watch off when I shower and sleep. It's always on me otherwise.

        • +2

@ms: Haven't been to my house then. Nor my brother's, dads, mums….

In short there are a bucketload of people who wear watches while cooking. I'm aware of no-one that actually takes it off for cooking even among my friends.

        • @eug: Is your cooking so bad that you have a food delivery guy just turn up whenever you're preparing dinner? :)

        • @AngryQLDer: Yes, it's that bad. But the food delivery guy would normally be bringing the other dishes for the party that I'm having. :)

  • Not the best smart watch to buy.

    • +2

why's that? it is first gen android wear, but I guess not much around that price point

    • +1

..But for the price what else is close…?

    • +1

A corolla is not the best car to buy, get a Ferrari.

  • +4

    Wow. Looks hideous.

  • Can't wait to see what the code is for an adult product…..

    • ADULTARSE?

  • Any deals you can get on the Moto 360 Mr. Arse?

  • Please get a deal on Moto 360. I missed out on the last deal

  • Any good deals for moto 360 please

  • +2

I bought this for $88 (Hardley Normal 1-day deal). You can put lipstick on this pig by changing the wrist band to leather!

The watch battery lasts 2 days - I'm impressed so-far.

    • -5

The watch battery lasts 2 days - I'm impressed so-far.

      2 days isn't that impressive.

These watches are a fad. Unless the battery tech improves, the watches will be out of fashion in no time.

      • +4

… And smartphones are also a fad, because the battery doesn't last more than two days..

        • -3

          Lol… Can't compare smartphone to a watch.

          • unlike the watches, you don't wear Smart phones.
        • +3

@ms: What does wearing or not wearing it have to do with the battery life?

You charge your phone every night. It's only one small step to pop your watch on the charging dock at the same time.

      • +1

2 days is impressive for this kind of tech. The others all have 24 hours or less.

  • Grabbed one to try out the tech.
    Thanks

  • +6

Also bought it in $88 deal out if curiosity thinking I would wear it for a week or two then go back to a regular watch. Months later, I have worn it every day and am also impressed and surprised. Works well with the display always on with plenty of battery left at the end of the day, which straight away makes it a better watch than the apple watch.
OK., its not the best looking, but it does look better on the wrist than the pictures imply. Almost everyone who notices it asks if it is an Apple watch - it is basically the same shape and only slightly uglier.
Will probably keep wearing it till a nice looking third generation Wear watch appears in a bargain here.

    • I agree. After being "wear sceptical", I've been wearing a smartwatch daily ever since the June 2014 Google keynote - starting with the Samsung Gear Live.

Depending on what you do, smartwatches actually turn out to be far more useful than you might imagine.

(After 1.5 years of Android + Android Wear though I have switched camps to iPhone + Apple Watch. The utility gained and above all the reliability and nice-to-useness is quite large. I also end the day with > 50% charge, so your Apple diss there is quite incorrect ;)

      • +1

My point was more that the display is always on without impacting the battery

  • -3

Comes up as $118 for me???

    • +2

did you apply GARSE coupon at checkout?

      Thanks TA, just bought.

    • -1

Thanks for the negative vote too. A simple comment like sabaramo's would have sufficed.

In the end on of my chrome add-ons was messing with the code/page. In Edge or IE no add ons it worked fine.

My fault but let's chill on the negs eh? Bit over the top.

  • +2

I'm just waiting for a deal on a barge.

  • One thing that is pretty cool to go with this is the WatchMaker: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=slide.watchFre… … People are making 1000's of watch faces and you can push then straight to your watch or customise them yourself.

    • Some android wear users have gotten pretty bad battery life with WatchMaker or Facer installed

  • +2

I have one. Works well, just outdoors visibility isnt that great. I am thinking of getting one of these for it to reduce the ugly factor:

    https://slickwraps.com/wood-series-skins-wraps-for-lg-g-watc…

  • Damn! I bought one of these last week

    http://www.geekbuying.com/item/Zeblaze-Crystal-1-54-In-LCD-S…

It seemed like a good buy at the time. Ah well.

  • +2

Too bad these Aerios docks are sold out, because they go very well with them.

  • I have an original pebble which is starting to glitch, but still works alright-ish, is it worth upgrading to this? Is it an upgrade?

  • +1

Bought one of these when Harvey Norman had them for 80 something dollars. Brilliant watch.

    • +1

So did I. I wouldn''t say BRILLIANT as I had great issues (not responding, force closing, some apps required newer Google Play code which was not released on our watches), but since the updates last month it has been very cool indeed. Very stable

Also easily get a full day with about 50% remaining.

For $88 I found it more useful than my Pebble. The voice recognition works very well for me so things such as starting navigation to a destination is fantastic.

      • +1

Yeah, I had that initially too. It updated about over 2 days then has worked perfectly since.

  • LG Watch Urbane please!

    • Yes, I've come to the conclusion this is what I want to upgrade to from my Pebble Steel!

  • So this would be the best (features/UI) smart watch under $100 at the moment?, apart from pebble when on sale.
Kinda keen on the idea of having a smartwatch, I do like the pebble steel, but cant recall seeing any recent deals on it, just the std version.
Pebble Time is more than I want to spend.

So AWare is a lot better than Tizen?

  • -1

When can we expect deliveries of these suckers? My first purchase from mobileciti? Are they good with shipping, I haven't received any tracking info yet?

  • Mine just came in today, just in time for the Perth long weekend!

If anyone has issues updating it (play store crashes etc on watch), then follow the directions here: https://www.reddit.com/r/lggwatchr/comments/3lru4m/lg_g_watc…

Basically you need to revert to an older version of the Android Wear app on your Android phone, run the updates, and then let the app update itself.

  • I'm really liking the watch. I almost bought the Sony one last night as a super early upgrade but the LG one is holding its own.

I had to roll back to an earlier version of Facebook on my phone today after it updated then wouldn't stop crashing. Since doing that Messenger posts are actually coming up on my watch, rather than just the notifications.

I think FB has since revert back to the current version.

    Weird!
