    "Don't pay $259.00" - LOL.

  • +10

    Should be $49.

    • If that's so, how much should the ridiculous motorola g round 2 cost? $20?

      • +1

Yeah I suppose I can take it off their hands if they pay me $20.

        • In all seriousness, I mean it. That flat tire make the LG G Watch look like it's from the far future in comparison.

    • Why? It's still a great watch

    • +1

      @Orpheus
      "Should be $49."

      Any reasoning?

      • -1
        • Older watch, discontinued
        • Given out for free at Google IO
        • Kogan and Google have sold for $120 before
  • Retro is SO in right now. This Casio, I mean, LG watch will be so hipster-esk

    • +1

… no hipster would be caught dead in anything but apple issued items..

  • Love my LG Smartwatch.. battery life kicks ass and almost as good as my Pebble with the latest update (4 days)

    • Yeah they are pretty good for the price.

    • Is your this one? I am lucky to get more than 2 days, and that's with the screen off.

I do have one issue, even when I turn off wrist gestures the screen randomly turns on, anyone experience this?

      • See my comment below.. Dont use Facer or Watchmaker and stick with the more simple stuff. These make a huge difference in the battery life.

        • I use the plainest standard watch face, however I do wear it to sleep for the tracking purposes, I noted the battery lasts longer if I don't. I also haven't ever installed any non standard apps (although a co one installed themselves eg. Sleep as android watch extention

        • @Jackson: Yeah.. wearing it to sleep may use the battery a bit more given most people's arm movements and stuff during the night. I got about a dozen or more 3rd party apps on mine as well and I got standard notifications set up with 3rd party software as well. I even made the comment to my colleague to say that I only used 18% by the end of the work day and about 25% by the next morning.

        • @bchliu: I have a feeling it's the watch face turning on when I move. I have ambient watch face off, so unless I double tap the screen it's just blank, however I do have the issue of it coming on when I move. I noticed it especially happens when I am using my phone for some reason, even relatively subtle movements will turn the screen on. Does this happen on yours?

        • @Jackson: Yes. It use to be very sensitive to that and would drive me a bit nuts. After the last update about a week or so ago, its nowhere near as sensitive and worked a lot better. This update was great but I have found that the Theatre mode on it is broken (at least on mine). You sure you dont have any other app loaded up that may override the default sensitivity or time out period for the screen to come on?

        • @bchliu: only a week? The last one I got was about 4 weeks ago (maybe 3), so there could be another update for me to get.

        • @Jackson: may have been longer. By now if you followed my comments, you would have figured out that I rotate around 4 watches (LG G watch, Moto 360, Pebble and Samsung Gear 1) with a week each on these.. So the update could have come in earlier but I didnt know about it until I started using my watch. Might also be advisable to do a factory reset on your watch and let it automatically reinstall everything back on to see if any of those 3rd party apps were stuck.

  • My one is pretty great. Near 4 day battery life even with a high cpu usage clockface that responds to movement.

The actual device is flawless for the most part. It's the band itself that is hopeless. Had to get it repaired already. I've also lost the loop holder part.

    At $99 it's a steal.

Anna what setting do u have your lg watch on to last 4 days I'm lucky to get 1.5 days on my watch

      • +1

The latest 5.1.1 updates should give you a much better battery life than before. Also ditch any of the DIY watch face app like Facer or Watchmaker. I was doing 2 days on the LG and 20 hours on my Motorola when I had Watchmaker going. Once I went back to normal watch faces, went up to 4 and 2 days respectively. Make sure you dont do Ambient always-on etc etc.

      • Cheffy007: If you can turn a HE into a SHE, I'm sure lasting 4days isn't a problem

      • Brightness on three. Always on to off (Android Wear's Always on is just embarrassing). Wrist Gestures to off (Because touching a screen is harder than flicking your wrist apparently.) All notifications are on, including Reddit Sync, which delivers heaps of content every 30 minutes.

This is my current watch face.

really people think this is a good deal?
hows compare with galaxy gear first?
the gear has camera, can make call and then talk straight to the watch.

    • +2

and is also bulky, and doesn't run Android Wear.

I do wish Android Wear watches would include a speakerphone though.

      • I assumed they did until reading your comment. Is it just specific watches that don't support it, or is it across all AW devices?

        • All AW watches don't have speakers. They have a mic though. I hope they gain a speaker soon.

    • Gear 2 is the camera watch, own one and it is fantastic…not bulky in the slightest.

      • +2

No, the Galaxy Gear has a camera too. I have one and it's definitely bulky compared to newer watches.

        • +2

My mistake, the gear has the camera on the band, which is one reason I went for the gear 2. I wanted to be able to by different bands without being stuck with the exclusive bands from samsung. I find the watch less bulky than my g-shock and it allows me to answer the phone without taking my phone out, perfect in turnout gear ;)

  • +1

Got it from Hardly Normal few months back for $88. Works well. Changed to a black steel strap from aliexpress. Looks neat.

  • +2

its an okay price. mobileciti have this for 115 shipped

    • -1

And now Mobileciti have it for under $100 delivered…

Nothing like a bit of competition ;-)

  • Agreed, this is a pretty good price, but not great. It's an awesome watch as an intro to Android Wear

I have this exact watch, it's a bit bulky; I have trouble fitting my cuff/cufflinks over it in a lot of shirts. No way you get 4d battery, 30-40hr usually, depending on settings/watch face etc. I've had mine since Christmas and the band has shiny and scuffed bits. It supports 22m bands so you can put any 22mm watch strap/band on them. Keep meaning to buy one but I've been slack!

    • I get 2.5days (60hrs) with the watch face always on so 4 days with it off seems possible.

  • I'll stick with my Pebble Time thank you

    • You're welcome!

    • The pebble time is really the only choice worth considering for my usage but it's so expensive. How much did you pay?

      • What does the Pebble Time have that means it's your only choice worth considering? You don't want to be able to read the screen with Sunglasses on?

        • +1

Excellent battery readable under sun, it is super clear under the sun. So many watch faces and apps. Very easy to use.

      • +1

        Including shipping about $300
        US$199 plus US$25 DHL

BTW harp norms sold the LG thingy for $88 at one stage

    • You can stick to your 144x168 with 64KB limited apps and no touch screen. You have access to a GLORIOUS 64 colours! The water resistance isn't even better, so even that isn't a selling point.

All companies are having a hard time in general selling smart watches when Swiss or similar normal watches are so good.

  • +1

My experience with this watch is probably similar to most, in that it's a bit bulky (even compared with a gen 1 pebble), however everything works more or less as expected. The latest update introduced a few new features including translate support, which is quite useful but still a bit buggy in that it would detect what I was saying correctly (as it displays your speech in words on the screen), but with some words it would change the word to something else before trying to translate, the problem was replicable but I can't think of any of Th e words (they were in German).

Apart from that sometimes the watch turns on when I don't want it to, eg. When I roll in bed, however I can't seem to turn that off I have tried turning off wrist gestures but it still happens. A small gripe is having to dig through the settings to see the battery life.

Useful things include see, reject and pick up calls, read messages and respond with reliable voice recognition, control music and YouTube etc, stopwatch and countdown, world time, updates time automatically from your phone when travelling (as long as you log on to a local network), step counter and sleep tracking support, gps direction prompts on the watch.

Not sure what other features people use but would be happy to hear about them.

    • +1

"dig through the settings to see the battery life"? On mine running 5.1.1 just swipe down from the clock face once which shows the mute function. For a couple of seconds the battery percentage is displayed on the same screen.

  • +1

I don't know much about wearable tech but is there a way to control and stream your android phone's camera through the watch and take photos remotely? I really like the idea of being able to use the watch as a viewfinder and take a photo on your phone with a single tap of the watch screen. I have an Samsung s6 if that helps.

  • Anyone tried this watch with an iPhone now that Android Wear is iPhone compatible?

  • -5

Good work Moonchie360 for posting but I will place a Negative vote to warn people, that "The deal is not the cheapest available" since it is now roughly $15 cheaper (including delivery) at Mobileciti

    • +2

Only until the end of today so get in there quick to get it cheaper, if not this one still has a few more days.

      • -2

Yep, good point - the COTD deal may last longer, if they don't pull it early, as they have with a number of deals lately…

        • And as I suspected, COTD ran out of stock of at least one of the colours already ;-)

Which is surprising, given that the other place was cheaper…

Edit : And now this is the cheapest again (so neg removed)
