Cheaper at our local school fete… No deal…

    • for an audiophile, where is this at ?

    • +1

TA seems have a mystery deal every day.

      For 1c to $1.

      no deal Kogan

      • +3

What would be TA's mystery deal tomorrow? $0.01 Finger puppets with coupon ARSEPUPPET? $0.05 poster of a random zebra with coupon ZEBRARSE?

  • +3

Please post back with what it is.
It's gonna be worth way less than $3, probably a Kogan sticker :P

    • +5

      … or a 'Monster Audio' sticker ;)

      • +2

        Or a delivery box…

      • Hehe

    • +6

2 empty baked bean tins connected by a string and paraded as the latest audiophile headphones.

      • +9

Would still sound better than the BEATS By Dr.Dre crap :)

        • +2

          *SNAP :-)

        • +3

Truer words have never been spoken

        • +2

          @ kamban & JayM
I was going to say stamped with their "B" symbol, but what kamban said works too :)

        • +2

          @OrbDaggerZ: &OrbDaggerZ @llama & @JayM
Glad to see that OzB community has seen past the Beats marketing BS :)

    • +11

The biggest mystery will involve 4+ weeks of wondering where the hell the package is.

Followed by inevitable disappointment, and buyers remorse.

  • +19

30c knock off earphones and being added to their spam list.

  • +5

    Probably this

  • +13

Got a Kogan mystery box once. Wasn't worth the price they charged plus it was completely useless.
One of those stupid old style telephone handsets you plug into your mobile. $15 bucks I think it was with a guaranteed refund if you didn't like.
After many hours trying to get the refund and failing, Kogan ripped me off many hours of my life as well as $15.

    • +3

Kogan ripped me off many hours of my life

^^ Made a big chuckle at workplace after reading this — lol :)

    • +3

I would've used that to swing it around above my head to deter intruders and say "get away from meeeeeee"

      • Damn, I just wasn't inventive enough.

      • i enjoy your thought process

  • +10

I think I got a COTD Mystery Box once..
It was a brand spanking new aftermarket set of AV cords for an xbox…..
Assuming this will be about as useless haha

  • +2

For $3 its pretty low risk you would say?

    • +14

$3 is still enough for buyer's remorse.

      • +2

Plus the hassle of trying to find a use for something you don't need. (a hard lesson learned from my time at Ozbargain)

    • +9

Ask yourself this: would you willingly flush $3 down the toilet? In fact that would be better because you wouldn't get plastic junk and Kogan can't get the money.

    • +13

I decided to cut out the middleman, so just threw $3 in the bin.

  • +2

    Pretty sceptical of this.

  • +2

(Link to product page, where it's $10)[https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/mystery-gift/?ref=homepage-tile]. You have to buy it through the app to get it for $3, so really it's a ploy to get you to install the app.

    Also, product page says:

Hint – It may or may not be handy for one of the following: riding elephants, solving mysteries or creating a party in your head.

So I'd bet headphones of some sort.

    • +3

The only item I found with an asking price of $10, or original price of $10, is the mp3 player I posted earlier. Like an 8gb shuffle.

      • +2

The MP3 player is out of stock so more than likely it would be a pair of cheap headphones, nonetheless took the bait and purchased it.

  • +6

    How is this a deal?

  • +4

Looks like Kogan will be getting rid of all their returned underwear stock!

  • +1

    android friendly i wonder

  • +1

"A mystery box with a secret surprise that audiophiles will love – will you find out what’s inside?"

for $3, a box of cotton buds?

  • +5

i bought two for the lolz

    • +1

      report back what you get.

better yet, let's guess what frysie will get!

      1. ear plugs
      2. sticker with headphones picture
      3. Engelbert Humperdinck vinyl bought from opshop
      4. HDMI cable
      5. cable organiser
      • +1

best value for $3 for an audiophile……a note from kogan saying
'we don't have the headphones you are looking for'

      • +1

        Number 1 is correct….

Knock off blue iphone ear plugs

        • Pink for me x 2 :(

  • I'll give it a go and see what I get. Being and Australian company, I'll be sure to unsubscribe to any spam and I'll be happy to report them if they send more.

    • +3

Being and Australian company. It just doesn't sound right with Kogan as being an Australian company any more.

  • +4

I bit the bait and installed the app. Bought the thing. To be honest, I am hoping it is a super cheap and nasty 4-8gb mp3 player with actual buttons. My last (fancy Cowon) broke due to crap buttons being fairly mashed at the gym and I need a dodgy little replacement I can drop on the treadmill and not care about.

Of course, when my phone went off with my default notification tone to spam me about a bluetooth headset on offer I immediately uninstalled the app. Idiots.

  • +4

$3 for overpriced stuffs on kogan is still not worth it. Ebay would be cheaper with similar delivery time

  • +11

How is this a bargain when we don't even know what we are getting? $3 for junk is no bargain!

  • +1

You won't get any warranty with Kogan or any customer service for that matter.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/207477

If it's a Grey Import mystery then it's value is probably a lot less than $3…lol

Will someone please buy it just so you can post your surprise an joy here.

  • +4

    I am hoping for a Schrödinger's cat.

    • +1

How would warranty work with that?

  • +2

mystery box is like gambling thing. i thought this is banned in ozb

  • +2

$3 of junk that they can't sell

  • -4

Past Kogan MYSTERY BOX deal packed a Galaxy Note 5 phone inside !!!! I wish…..

  • Just get the boat, don't bother with the mystery box.

  • +1

Done this before a while back.. It is like 90% rubbish.. they get rid of stuff they literally can't sell..

  • +1

installed app, bought one, uninstalled app

3 bucks is worth seeing my sons eyes light up when he gets mail.

Hopefully its an mp3 player to attach to teh speakers in his car seat to play the wiggles

  • +1

Can people please post what they got? I'm not going to bite this one but interested to see if people's predictions are correct when it comes to mystery items from past deals like Kogan, COTD, etc.

  • +1

    Received my $3 mystery gift.

Was Apple Earpod knock-offs.. They don't sound terrible, but I have nice AKGs I use at work.

These might just live in my work bag for the times I don't want to use full headphones. Meh

    • Thanks for the feedback.

      Glad i didn't bite ;P

      • +2

the "audiophile" and "$3" wasnt enough to make you realise?

        • No ;P
Most 'audiophile' gear is over priced as it is.

    • +1

      Received my $3 mystery gift.

mr kogan is now $2.50 richer …

    • +2

Absolutely waste of money and time. I bought 3, 1 didn't survive the trip- I learnt my lesson :(
