Considering Kogan's normal dispatch/shipping speed plus that presale date, the Galaxy S7 will almost be out by the time you get this. Very good price though!

hmm weird .. i got 2 phones from them last 20% off ebay sale within 4 days … and that would have been seriously busy time for them.

      • +1

Might have changed their shipping? Last phone i got from Kogan was an Xperia Z2 about a year ago, took just under a month to arrive.

        • +1

my mate bought a lens from the same sale and got that on the same day i got the phones… so maybe they are getting better .. but who knows.. :)

        • It depends, if stock items, usually you get it within 4-7 working days based on my past history of buying from them. If presale, then it will be what they say, leave warehouse on 21/10 plus 4-7 working days to get to you.

      • I got my s5 on eBay sale last time, seemed to arrive in about a week ……. was within their predicted delivery times….. was very happy and great price …. Kogan seem to be the benchmark for cheap iPhones and samsung

    1 Year Australian Warranty.

Ahhh… Maybe not really. it is very confusing in the case of phones purchased from Kogan HK Limited.

"This Product is offered and supplied by Kogan HK Limited pursuant to the Terms and Conditions."

"Kogan [HK Limited] is not affiliated with the manufacturer of this product in any way. This Product is an international model imported directly from internationally based distributors. This Product may differ in some respects from other similar products available from local retailers in various countries around the world."

"This product may contain warranty documents on or inside the packaging provided by the manufacturer of the product. Any such warranty documents are not given by Kogan.com, and are separate from the Kogan.com warranty. Some warranty documents provided by manufacturers of imported goods may not apply in Australia. You should contact the manufacturer identified on the warranty document to determine whether or not the warranty applies to the goods in Australia and if so, how you should go about making a claim under such a warranty."

    Further confusion from this:-

    "9. Faulty or damaged goods

Kogan HK will repair, replace or refund faulty or damaged Products in accordance with the Warranty Terms and Conditions and Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

    1. Refunds and returns
      10.1

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes, restricts or modifies the consumer guarantees provided for by statute including under the Australian Consumer Law."

However, Australian Consumer Legislation does not apply to items purchased from an overseas company, and privately imported.

It means the warranty is provided by Kogan themselves under statutory laws to which Kogan operate and not the manufacturer. So people need to understand what they are getting is warranty BUT with a condition that if something happens it needs to be sent back to Kogan to fix or replace. The obvious problem with this is the turn around time and NO back up phone provided. You could potentially be without a phone for 2 or 3 months until Kogan receive the unit, repair it and send it back to you. Its a primary reason why people just pay a little extra and buy local stock.

You don't get the benefit of a handset swap over if the phone carks it. (one of the reason why Apple products are so popular, they handle defective handsets and swap overs quickly and simply)

      • It means the warranty is provided by Kogan [HK Limited] themselves under statutory laws to which Kogan operate and not the manufacturer.

I think it is more than that.

"It is important to note that different Terms and Conditions apply in respect of Orders for KA Products, Kogan HK Products and Kogan Travel Products. Where you place an Order for Kogan HK Products to be delivered outside of Hong Kong, you will be the importer of the Kogan HK Products into Your jurisdiction."

Yes. "It is important to note that Kogan Australia supplies and supports all warranties relating to Products which are noted as being offered and supplied by Kogan Australia ("KA Products"). It means that your so called warranty doesn't exist. I pushed this recently at QCAT and it took 5 months to resolve. Why..because Kogan will deny you have any warranty after you have bought it. Trust me when you think that your covered by Aussie warranty the whole thing of Grey imports, what type of warranty manufacturer and/or retail warranty, consumer law and the fact that Kogan really try to skirt around a legitimate claim all come into play. Even when Kogan were told to refund they still continue to drag it out and not honour any of their obligations. I should publish the full Court transcript for people who are thinking of buying Kogan to read, so they can make up their own mind how completely dodgy Kogan are. Kogan refused to even take the goods back just to check them, let alone repair or refund.

Some people will buy from them because it's a cheap deal but I've certainly learnt cheap can sometimes be way more expensive than the original cheap price. Good luck buying from Kogan. Once bitten twice shy.

Depending upon from which company you purchased, this may be correct. If one buys from Kogan HK, and is a private importer, any warranty claim would have to go to Kogan HK Limited or to the manufacturer.

It does appear very confusing when I try to follow the warranty links for an item supplied by Kogan HK Limited.

Even when Kogan were told to refund they still continue to drag it out and not honour any of their obligations.

It would be helpful if you could make it clear which Kogan Company you are talking about.

          Again, which Kogan company?

If purchasing from an overseas company, such as Kogan HK Limited. One has to take the risk of no worthwhile warranty into account, and balance it up against any saving. It can sometimes be worth the risk.

        • @Cingkongciow:

I've only had good experiences with Kogan since starting to shop with them from 2013 onwards. Once had a product that I changed my mind about, told Australia Post to return it and Kogan settled my case within 3 days.

So, you are referring to Kogan Australia?

From what I can see from various friends and family accounts + online reviews, it looks like their service has vastly improved over the past year.

Whose service? Kogan Australia the Australian company/business, or Kogan HK Limited the overseas based company?

Will definitely shop with them as I don't really care about warranty. Just fix it yourself for most stuff.

          A very strange attitude.

As for real high tech stuff, just get it repaired for $10 and that's always so much quicker and easier.

Even stranger. Where would one get a $1,000+ iPhone or SAMSUMG SmartPhone repaired for $10? Or for that matter, ANY 'high tech' item?

You might get lucky, kogan actually sent me australian note 2 stock a couple of years ago. It died and I took it to samsung australia and played dumb and eventually they fixed it (it was a known faulty ram problem - they should have fixed it regardless of where it came from but that's another issue)

Yes, that is correct. You have not specified if your purchase was from an Australian business (Kogan Pty Ltd) or from an overseas one (Kogan HK Limited). However, some (very few) items sold by Kogan HK Limited turn out to be Australian market models. For example, I believe Kogan HK Limited re-sold some Vodafone AU stock of mobile phones recently.

Kogan HK, ended up being the N7105T varient which is only for the australian marketplace. It was out of kogan 1 year warranty but samsung gave me date of manufacture plus 2 years when I told them it was a gift.

  • As a comparison:

    • dwi $699 (not including postage)
    • t-dimension $728

    Good price

Do you have any info. on 'good' prices for the Australian market model?

I would be interested in comparing the value of the SAMSUNG Australia two year warranty.

    • $664 with 5% discount at dwi

      only blue colour however..

      • anyone here seen the blue colour in person? is it terribly bright and distracting or is it alright?

Allow me to try to fix that for you. So you don't get more neg votes.

I agree with you on that point. Kogan HK Limited have appalling customer service, and slow shipping times. Good Luck getting anything fixed with Kogan HK Limited. Any other seller would be better. Kogan HK Limited, yeah not for me.

Interestingly the same Samsung Galaxy S6 32GB is sold for $699 from Kogan if you want 1-2 weeks "leaving the warehouse". So basically Kogan is expecting S6 to drop the price by $100 in 3-4 weeks.

    • +2

Ruslan is quite the fox these days!

    • and AUD drop or both

      • +1

AUD needs to RISE to have the price drop.

  • Might get screwed over by the aussie dollar, that might drop faster than the phone price. Surely this couldn't get much cheaper until next model early next year? It's not much more at this price than the G4.

  • +1

Bought S5 on Kogan, and the seal is broken when arrived. The back cover of the handset is also open and not put back correctly. Won't buy anything from them any more.

  • Just purchased it, about 100$ off with 1 month waiting. Is that worth?

  • -1

I got my s5 from them and also my Nikon lenses, no problems all work fine……. what is the expected failure rate …… o.001%

read about Motorola six sigma and the expected hardware failure rate …… it's tiny .

  • Not sure if it will needs a separate post, but Kogan is also doing a Presale for the Nexus 6 for $489. Similar conditions to this S6 one, leaves warehouse on 21st Oct.

  • +1

This pre-sale for a phone that's a month from shipping is like playing the sharemarket. You are expecting there to not be a better price within the next 30 days. That's rarely the case once you've given them your money.

    • Great point lostn, however as part of our Price Drop Guarantee if the price drops on a non-Kogan Exclusive Brand item before your purchase has dispatched, we will store credit you the difference. Based on history though, prices usually always go up after the presale date, that's why presales are a great way to get an even better deal!

      • Is that you Ruslan? What are you guys going to do now that Joe Hockey passed the bill to charge import duties on all imports now, removing the $1000 tax free threshold? Gerry Harvey finally got his way. Are you guys SOL?

        • Business as usual, lostn
