Samsung Galaxy S6 64GB Blue Mobile Phone $797 @ Officeworks

540

Noticed Office works have the Samsung Galaxy S6 64GB Blue for $797 is available for click and collect or postage.

Seems like a good price for local stock with 64GB memory and 2 years AU warranty if you do not mind Blue.

I noticed Harvey Norman have it for the same price till end of 20/09/15 http://www.harveynorman.com.au/samsung-galaxy-s6-64gb-blue.h…

This colour must be really unpopular…

    • +2

Yet somehow Gold is more popular.

At least gold has the bling factor. This light blue just looks off - not sure why Samsung didn't chose a more attractive darker tone.

        • +2

The 'black' s6 shines a dark blue… love it.

        • I think the colour looks nicer in real life compared to the photo. Depending on the angle you see it, the colours changes (the glass used reflects light, making the colour look different depending on the angle). I frankly think the photo doesn't do the phone justice. I thought the black one looked nicer, but I found a good deal on a blue one (second hand).

Though this is just my personal opinion.

Gold devices are very popular in China..

…so I think there are many CHinese buying gold s6s.

@ms: In the hand it's all glass and metal not plastic. Obviously not gold though.

        • +4

@ms: Exactly which part is plastic in your hand??? The glass or the metal?

      With a case… who care?

Hmmm, is local stock justified the price premium?

  • I like the Blue, but is the Edge more popular?

    • +9

probably. does it matter what's more popular? just get the one you like the most.

I was referring to the pricing here.

Why not add HN to title as well :)

    • +1

Haha ya. I gues OW is just matching HN to prevent beating it.

  • Not sure why mobile with contracts not getting cheaper

    • +1

Because you are not paying upfront cost, instead you paid it in "installment" basis, technically it's like a small personal loan with telco.

    • +1

Vaya + outright phone is always cheaper anyway

      • It probably comes out a bit cheaper, but I personally don't mind paying for my S6, for example, at $69/mo for 4gb data, unlimited everything else with rollover, which will total $1656 over 2 years.

Comparing this to Vaya's $33/mo plan, which only gives 2.5gb data (no rollover) over the same time period + a $600-800 phone is still going to be $1500-1700 in total over the 2 years, with less included..

Of course you can get a cheaper phone like a nexus (I previously used a nexus with a prepaid plan too) and it will be cheaper over 2 years, but I just wanted to point out it's not always a huge saving :)

        • The $18 plan for 1.5GB is fine for my data-heavy phone usage and should be enough for a reasonable person. 18*24=432. Phone=600. Total=$1032 over 24 months. A saving of $624, or $24 a month.

        • @Fobsessive: Ah, well for people who use a lot of data, perhaps it isn't as cheap to go outright + prepaid. I guess it all depends on the deal/plan you get :)

Keeping also in mind that some handsets are $800 outright for the first 6 months+ of being out, so that could be factored in.

    • I think mobile with contracts not getting cheaper faster probably is because of lack of competition.
Mobiles on contract are more likely to be bound to one telco than prepaid ones for longer period of time.
So if they were to fight over market share more, telecommunication companies would do more aggressive pricing on the plans and contracts.
      Just my opinion.

  • For the Pros out there, buying this outright will mean you need a decent BYO plan deal. Does anyone have any recommendations for someone in Melbourne with a $30ish per month budget? Thanks!

    • I'm with lebara, national plan. You get unlimited text and calls to Australian numbers as well as 4.5gb of data each month. I pay $30. Lebara is Voda phone network

      • -1

I don't see any mention of 4G on that plan at all, or for any of Lebara's plans for that matter lol.

TPG have pretty much the same deal except 4G but only 1GB data.

        • I think Amaysim have unlimited talk/text and 2gb of data for 30 a month now, on 4g, optus network.
          I personally pay 45 for 5 gig.

    • Vodafone red plan $40-5=35 per month, unlimited call in Australia. Plus a free phone

      • or I should add a free cheap phone

    • i'm actually in the same boat as you looking for a BYO plan around $30ish per month.

but looking for something a bit more than 2GB Data. The other guys have commented for plans 2GB or less for $30 or less.

Anybody know any plans <$40 a month with more than 2GB of data per month?

Couldn't you save even further money by buying from HN doing this?

The gradient of the price decline of each new Galaxy S phone is decreasing unfortunately.

  • If you are a recent ME Bank customer (still receiving 5% cashback on touch and go) purchase 7x $100 and 1x$97 gift card (might need to do it over a day or two) to save an additional 5% on the price quoted above.

    • +1

They can and do monitor this for "abuse", 7x $100 transactions in 2 minutes looks very suspicious… Also you could apply this to almost any deal in a retail outlet..

  • Its worth $499 even then?
