Nespresso Breville U Red $84 (After $40 Cash Back and $15 off Electrical Code) RRP $199 @ Myer

230
MYHOME15

Credit to this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/209838 for the $15 off orders over $100.

Makes this unit come down to $124, and then there is either $40 cashback or $60 worth of Nespresso credit. This is a basic Nespresso machine, not gonna get into whether it is worth this or worth getting an automated machine, but if you are interested in a Nespresso machine without a milk frother this is good value.

Recently bought one for home as a spare for when people come over or when I don't have time to use my other machine and grinder. Combined the $60 credit with the Nespresso intro offer which meant that 150 pods cost only $40.

  • OP, how is your other coffee compared with this Nespresso pod machine? I have the profit Lavazza Minu machine and a Nespresso Pixie. The Minu built quality is much worse than the Pixie but I find Lavazza coffee tastes slightly better than the Nespresso one.

I have a Breville Precision coffee machine (one that came with a grinder, from memory called the Duo but can't remember), I use that most mornings if I have the time, better quality coffee and more control. But sometimes in a rush and can make a Nespresso while getting ready.

I have had different pod machines in the past (ALDI and Caffitaly), for this reason, personally the quality of the pods are a much of a much, going from a better machine with grounded fresh beans to a pod machine you can notice the difference. The main reasons I went for Nespresso is the recycling program, considering how much waste pods create, and the consistency, often found that other machines would occasionally leak or just shoot out grounds.

      If any of that helps

      • Thanks that helps. Thinking getting a proper coffee machine but really dont have time in the morning. I compared the semi decent one at work and Nespresso but couldnt tell any diff. Lavazza tastes even slightly better of 3 of them. Wonder if it is the coffee that counts not the machines.

        • I have a Breville Dual Boiler and the output is clearly better using fresh beans from Coffee Alchemy than a Nespresso machine.

However, I use Nespresso at work and it's clear why the machine is so successful - it comes down to convenience and consistency. You will always have a consistent shot out of the nespresso, where as with the dual boiler it will come down to how well I have adjusted the grinder, dose, tamp, etc… when you are just knocking down expresso shots you can tell the difference.

I also think the Nespresso pods are a notch above all the other compatible ones I have tried, that being said I only like 2 of the single o pods.

  • Got this as a gift for dad, he couldn't handle the complexities of a fully auto machine (a Jura), and the Nespresso pods are far more available with more variety than other systems.

    Thanks OP!

  • Great deal!

Still doesn't beat the mother's day special from Harveys last year though!! $74 that was from memory

Just FYI, the Red Nespresso U Solo is not eligible for the cashback promotion. Only the White Breville and the Black DeLonghi!

    • Where does it say that? From what I can see it is any Nespresso U https://www.nespressopromotion.com.au/Fathersday2015/cashbac…

"Offer 2 applies to the purchase from the Essenza, Inissia, CitiZ single and U range"

      • When you input your claim information it will only specifics these two models. Try entering fake info and go through the process and it will show you a list of eligible machines.

I see, you're not wrong. Strange, because when I posted the Myer website had the link and stated it was available for cashback…

        • @ghostbuster: No worries, my suggestion is to return it and get your money back from Myers. I think it is partly Nespresso's fault for not clarifying the eligible machines upfront on the website.

    • Not true. I submitted the claim the moment I received the machine. It got approved within a couple of hours. Just selected the other U Solo (which shows the correct model ordered).

      • That is good. So you selected the white/black model and went ahead with the claim?

        • No, U & Aeroccino3 it will show the exact model that Myer was selling.
