Still on Intuos 2. Remember, it's the artist, not the tool

    • +11

unless the artist is also a tool. so the tool is also the tool.

    • so, perfect for artists without the tool?

    • I have a huion gt-190 and a intuos 3…..now to learn to draw….

    • My tool (Intuous 1) doesn't work any more, no drivers with anything above Windows 7. Would have loved to have grabbed this deal. Too late to the party again.

    • Got my daughter a MonoPrice 10593 (8 x 5 inch) tablet for xmas. She loves it and it hasn't missed a beat…even after upgrading to Windows 10!

    • Intuous 2 as well - hate the smooth surface on these things, it's like writing on glass. I do the paper hack and then nibs wear down like crazy.

  • Looks like it may be QLD only, sorry to all for the confusion.

  • "Sorry, some of the items in your shopping cart are out of stock. Please remove highlighted items and proceed."

  • Tried setting local store to Adelaide St, Brisbane (I'm in NSW) and it changed to showing as In Stock. Might help those buying

  • Wonder how the iPad Pro will affect Wacom sales…

does it have a proper digitizer?

      • +2

Just had a look and they have a thing called Apple Pencil. When using the pencil it turns up the input scanrate(vs fingers) to help with lag. The way iit is worded it looks like the lag may be still an issue but the blurb is trying to cover that. It is also pressure sensitive, but no mention of how many levels, and has two tilt sensors - so can emulate different mediums used at angles.

I dont think it will affect the serious Wacom tablet and the combo hi gamut screen/digitizer users, but might be some competition for their Android digitizer. I guess competition is always good in niche markets, even if it is from Apple.

Wacom has been a monopolist even with other active stylus like n-trig, etc has been around despite having huge flaws.
Frankly speaking, I don't think Apple Pencil would be able to compete with Wacom tablets nor have a huge negative effect on Wacom tablets.
Tilt function was supported on Note 4 and Samsung is planning on releasing a new note tablets, so I've heard (gazillion times since 2013).
I'd assume they would implement the S-pen technology used on Note 4 if they release a tablet that utilises wacom tech?

I have my doubts. I will definitely try Apple Pencil out, but the situation just reminds me of when Surface Pro 3 came out and how people, MS even held AMA on reddit, were like n-trig would be as good as Wacom stylus.

That said, I think Apple would increase the market size since a tablet with stylus would now feel relatively less expensive as long as it's under $899 USD.

      • Samsung's ATIV range of laptops/tablets has a wacom digitiser in it already, along with the Microsoft Pro Surface range. I'd have thought if tablets with digitizers were going to steal wacom's business, they'd have done it by now.

        • The Surface Pro 3 isn't Wacom. The 1 & 2 are, though.

        • Wacom has a similar line already (Cintiq Companion), that's why I've blurred and didn't separate the tablet PC and drawing tablet (though I do admit that I've neglected the need to seperate these partially because I am not an artist of sort).

Also, there was a rumour that the reason that MS moved on from Wacom to N-trig was Wacom didn't want to have competition in their product line (12+ inch tablet PC with Wacom EMR tech support). At least, there is a rumour that Wacom asked MS to not advertise that they use EMR technology from Wacom (I couldn't find a reliable source on this).

    • Complete different use case. iPad is standalone while the the Intuos and Cintiqs (even the Companion tablets..) plug into computers.

    • The ipad pro cant even run full photoshop and you can get the bottom level surface pro for the same price.
I was really hoping apple was going to bring out a competitor to the surface, appears not :(.

  • Has anyone managed to get one now? No stock anywhere in QLD (confirmed this with OW staff) and the site says Unavailable Online…

  • This is out of stock everywhere.

  • I've been wanting to get a tablet for a while - does anyone have a Huion branded one? I'm thinking of the Huion H610 Pro, which are around $85. They seem to get good reviews ( a fair amount of good reviews on Amazon too), for their budget price anyway, compared to the market leaders (Wacom etc).

    • I have a huion tablet monitor and its pretty good for the price(minus colour accuracy) and I've heard the regular tablets are pretty good..

Guys, why do need a dedicated graphics tablet when you can use something like this?

      Are you joking?

    • If you have to ask, you don't need it.

  • Does anyone know if new Intuos Pro models are actually coming out soon? I've been eyeing a medium intuos pro for ages now and would love to pull the trigger if there was a price drop.

  • (profanity) I bought medium for $398 couple of weeks ago. (profanity) you Officeworks.
